Louis and Lestat are the one couple in the novels that are written as soulmates, but I've never heard a more accurate description of their relationship than when Jacob Anderson said they're like home to each other. He clearly understood the assignment.

I had this very thought yesterday--how she never got to see this version. I think, in every single way possible, THIS version is what she had in mind when she originally wrote the books. There is no other Louis, Lestat, Daniel, or Claudia. The time period change is absolute and utter perfection.
Watching the other three lose it laughing when Eric just spoils a huge reveal of the show is so funny.

It's good to see a Lestat that is "Lestat". For as much as I enjoyed Tom Cruise and Stewart Townsend in the role, Sam Reid is owning and "killing" it.

This show is so good. So so good. From the writing to the performances to the overall aesthetic, A+. And nice to see all of these actors who are at very different stages of their lives and careers, debating issues relating to mortality and humanity. Just amazing. Thank you guys for this.
The way that Jacob and Sam are mirroring one another in their postures is utterly dazzling! These two are closer than close and it is brilliant to observe❣️
Oooo! So instead of being an eternal child, Claudia is an eternal crazy hormonal teenager with all kinds of super strong emotions all over the place and mood swings and she will probably be rebellous and other teenage things. Interesting. Looking forward to see how they do this.

I saw both versions. This version is amazing. To me the characters are more developed. I love the dialoque as well. Very seldom do you see a remake better than the original.

I really love this show. And I really appreciate that they have given Louis more than what his was in the books. They have evolved him let him have more agency and presence. I also like today let Lestat be more than what the first book was about all the books into fill out lestat. In looking at some of the books I always felt it was a shortcoming of Anne Rice that she did not let Louis evolve that she kept him at the same place. I think it was a very neglectful mistake. That I have loved about the show they're not neglecting Louis they're letting him evolve.

I have 4 cats named Lestat, Louis, Claudia, and Akasha. 2 boys and 2 girls! I rescued Claudia off the streets this summer as a tiny kitten and she is still so tiny almost full grown. Akasha is a beautiful black goddess cat, Lestat is a Norwegian forest cat and Louis is a Siamese cat. Just wanted to share my coven of cats!

IWTV is absolutely amazing. I read ALL the books and the way they've updated the story is perfect. I had my doubts about making Louis black but the change made this character more awesome and complex. Can't wait for season 2!
I actually paused when I first saw Louis as Black and the time period change. I thought "why did they change this--how will this affect the story?" But then I kept watching and this current version is **absolute perfection**. Every change to the story, the time period, and making Louis truly Creole in order to explore the implications of the racism as well as going all out on the queer aspects of the relationship has just been amazing to watch. There are so many layers to every scene. Season 2 can not come quickly enough.

@@dogquixote The show is just a feast for eyes and ears. I wish more people would give it a try. It's sad it got so much hate before release. I'm glad it has a following now, but if it wasn't for the pitchfork, hate train, I think it would be even more popular.

I've never been hooked on a show this fast and with only 2 episodes watched. Sam and Jacob are so perfect in these roles, I need more. I haven't read the books or watched the movie. Ordered the books and can't wait to read and imagine Sam and Jacob as my Lestat and Louis. Beautiful casting and their chemistry in the show and in interviews is insane. You have another hit AMC. Promote it well.
How can You Say that if You don't read any book ? This is so stupid, bc they allready demolish the original stories, Claudia is a Big girl, that just ruined her entire arc. This is not gona be dropping many seassons i tell You and that is for sure.

The series is wonderful. The acting is top notch, the look of the show is splendid. I watched the first season and immediately watched it again 😁.
so refreshing to see a cast that really seem like family this is the best-written show and best cast the chemistry is very welcoming I cannot wait till the second season to start.

I was only on AMC for the zombies but then I decided to give this show a try and OMG I was IN LOVE immediately! Saw the first movie but THIS! Their Love is so chaotically beautiful and dysfunctional and CLAUDIA 😍

Bruh I felt way too emotional when Jacob said he couldn't wait to see other Anne Rice fans see the show and say "yes, these are the characters I know and love" because that's EXACTLY how I felt. These are the characters I envisionned when I was reading the books. These are the stories and dynamics and relationships I've wanted to see onscreen (no shade to the movie I still like it but. I mean. Come on)

God, I really, really, really hope they do Anne and the books justice. I'm intrigued and very excited to see the show, so I guess that's something. I recently reread all the novels when Anne passed and the nostalgia of reentering that world was strong. I hope the show can touch on that.
It’s so significant that Sam and Jacob haven’t ever fought while working on set. The show would honestly never have been nearly as excellent if they didn’t have any chemistry of some degree.

I've been really reticent about the time shift (mostly because it messes up the rest of the storyline so much, even if they've kept Lestat being born in the 1700s), but I do think that this being a "second interview" rather than a straight adaptation is a pretty neat idea (in that yes, it allows for more of the latter books to be added in and it solves the problem with repetition once -- fingers crossed -- they get to The Vampire Lestat). But most of all, the way the cast (Sam Reid being a true fan especially) has been talking about the characters and the books has been so perfect that I'm willing to put the rest of my suspicions aside and just be excited for this.

Gotta say, I was unsure what to think after I saw the trailer but the cast's passion for this version of the story is contagious. After watching a couple of interviews I am genuinely excited for this show to come out. Also love love LOVE the lack of queerbaiting, knowing this version of the story is openly and cannonicaly queer (on the screen!!) gives me life.
One thing I will say is that the costume design in the movie had a wonderful color theme (basically blue, green, purple) that I wish they'd kept. It really channaled anne rice and helped solidify the charecters as even more iconic (especially lestat with his blues and louis with his greens). Oddly enough the fact that didn't make it into the show saddens me more than the time period change or the changes in charecters. Then again, what do I know, I'm just a little costume design enthusiast. Still excited for the show!!!!

They wanted to keep Armand a secret for season 1. The actor himself thought he was just gonna be a side character until the filming of the last episode lol.

I like all of the characters but I do find Lestat's Queenly nature to be annoying. Dude talks so much I wish someone would knock him out 🤣 but I never read The IWTV novel so maybe he is this annoying in that book.
I just know the character from The Vampire Lestat and he's so cool in that book. I want that Lestat.
I kind of felt like Louie was way more cool honestly. The show kind of seems like it's making Louis Lestat in the whole outing the vampire race thing which is super weird. I haven't finished the show so I don't know what that whole bit is about yet but I do suspect the Middle Eastern boy is a character from the books probably Armand because I recall him being described as boyish.
He looks more Marius to me then Lestat
Superman does not need to be played by a super ripped actor, his strength comes from his alien physiology and not from his muscles, this is evident from his Superboy days and that scrawny cousin o f his Supergirl. So using this logic, lets say a movie studio casts a guy who weighs 400lbs to play Superman, and knowing fans will be pissed at this, the studio and the woke critics make the statment that anyone not happy with this casting is just a fat shaming bigot. Now I ask, do you the millions of pissed off fans are going to be pissed because they hate fat people, or are they pissed off because the character doesnt resemble the source material that they love?
Why are you ranting about Superman? If you don't like an adaption just ignore it. I don't know any adult who is of stable mind getting mad over fiction. Who has that kind of juvenile fixation when reality requires a lot of focus to sustain having a personal stake in? It's sad. Life is too short to live in other people's fantasies.

@@akira93_45 there’s no way to film a series with an actress that young. Kids that age will visibly age sooo much in short periods of time. It could work for a movie but filming a series takes years, she’d have noticeably aged if she was younger. This was the only solution.

would be pretty boring to make something almost identical to the cruise/pitt movie. the change in certain elements (while keeping the basic storyline the same) gives it a twist that makes it even more exciting to watch. first episode was amazing, change isn't necessarily bad.
