- Yes, we always want screen adaptations to honor source material, especially when that source material is an iconic Anne Rice novel. But, one of the most exciting things about seeing such a story brought to screen multiple times is it gives artists the opportunity to bring their own unique voices to it. That’s what we can expect from the team behind the upcoming Interview with the Vampire series over at AMC.
Based on Rice’s 1976 novel, the show stars Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid as Louis de Pointe du Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt, the roles played by Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise in the 1994 film. As the show’s official synopsis explains, Louis is struggling with the limitations of life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans so becomes tempted by Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape - becoming a vampire. Louis accepts, but his new powers spark violence and also great responsibility in the form of child vampire Claudia (Bailey Bass).
With the Interview with the Vampire series heading towards an October 2nd debut on AMC with the series’ first two episodes available on AMC+ that same night, Anderson, Reid, Bass, and Eric Bogosian who steps in as journalist Daniel Molloy all visited the Collider interview studio at San Diego Comic-Con to discuss their experience working on the show and how it differs from previous versions of the story.

6:59 I rewarched that moment like 10 times like yes, Jacob is actually gonna eat Eric😂😭
Great questions! I've been watching all the interviews with this cast and usually it's the same 3 questions over and over.
How come no one asked Sam and Jacob, "Curiously, why are you two wearing the same jacket, just in different colors?...Was that intentional?"
Who makes this jacket? i want one.
Omg youre right
Oh darlings they went to the store together
Hahaha great eye!! They’re twin souls 😃🥰🥰
I didn’t even notice it until you pointed it out
Damn eagle eyes 😂😂😂
10:02 The family dynamic is so obvious
45 seconds in and I already love this interviewer! Great energy right from the start and really interesting questions too! Awesome :)
Also, she actually seems professional and doesn't giggle all the time like I've seen other interviewers do.
To me, it'll always seem like the 3 of them are staring at Eric Bogosian's neck and ready to pounce on him and eat him every time he's interviewed with them.
👍👍👍 Love this! They are just a great fit together! Absolutely enjoyed their knowledge of the source material and looking towards developing the future of the show. They are building such a great friendship already and it is wonderful to see them all laughing and joking about themselves and their characters.
Yes, these are fantastic questions too! Also really enjoyed the last one! 😁
8:16 lmaooo Sam is so happy he starts giggling
She is a great interviewer! I've seen a couple of her SDCC interviews and she always has insightful questions that shows she's done her homework on the people she's interviewing. These types of interviews always tend to be a little awkward because we have so little information but she always seems to keep a great flow. I'd def watch longer videos if it's her asking the questions.
I can't wait to see what Jacob Anderson does, I believe he's going to be so good in this role.
I thought he was great in his role as Louie, but after watching the series i really thought Sam Reid stole the show as Lestat.
Idk but I didn’t see the romance in these books the first time I read them, but now that I’m rereading I see it, but it totally went over my head the first time around 😅
How old were you when you first read it???
After watching the show, i decided to start reading the whole Anne Rice vampire series. I am more than halfway through Interview with the Vampire (i'm a slow reader) and to be honest, i do not see much love or romance between Louie and Lestat. Of course it's told from Louie's point of view, and all he really does is talk about how much he can't stand and resents Lestat. The only time i could sense any kind of emotional attachment is after Claudia attempts to destroy Lestat, and Louie feels regret and loss after thinking that Lestat was gone. I'm a gay man, and to be honest, i was really looking foward to reading about a relationship like the one in the t.v series, and i have not really seen it as far as i have read. Maybe in the later books their relationship is described as one of a more romantic nature.
@@cullenarthur8879 I started with The Vampire Lestat and then went into interview, when you get to Lestat's book you should see it then and in Queen of...
@@dreadee5757 oh, so the relationship is told differently from Lestats point of view? The Vampire Lestat is next on my read list.
@@cullenarthur8879 yes and then some, I don't want to give any spoilers.
Also just enjoy the books doesn't matter your pace of reading, Anne Rice is a great writer RIP so her books are fun to read.
Love the energy from this cast👍🏽 Can’t wait to watch this remake🥰
Great questions! Please interview them again for season 2
MISS ANNE RICE; THANK YOU THANK YOU; FOR SUCH A GREAT REMAKE AND BEAUITFUL TV SERIES , LOVE LOVE LOVE THE CAST AND SERIES 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💜💜
Best interview i have seem so far. Very good questions!!! So clear and interesting
Great interviewer and good questions 🤩
Louis: eyes, lips, deep laugh, intensity
LeStat: swagger, butt, sexuality, brat
Claudia: confusion, impulsive, vindictive
WONDERFUL !!!!!
I liked them all, but after watching the series, i came away blown away by Sam Reid as Lestat. He's not even the type of guy i usually go for, but he is absolutely gorgeous and charming.
So enjoyed the first episode, great update. Will keep watching. Great to see Aussie actor Sam Reid, going well.
I love the questions this interviewer asks. She is amazing!
these questions were amazing!
2:15 sam your lestat is showing
Omg😮🥵🥵🥵🥵
I loved the first episode and i loved the books that I read of this series and i loved the movie i liked queen of the dammed movie so i would love to see a better version of that. I love how tragic Louis is and so far this actor is portraying that very well, it’s obvious that the actor loves Lestat and he’s doing a very good job so far. All the blood makes me shield my eyes lol
These are nice questions
Sam is just a sweet heart !
Sam Laughs
10:45
11:03
12:20
don't mind me I just miss Jacob and bailey
Sam looks like he surfs.
Why is Assad Zaman (Rashid/Armand) in none of the press interviews ever? :(
I’m only assuming it’s because how they left the season finale where we don’t know if he is good/bad especially how Louis fake smile saying he is “love of my life”
I want the Louis character to rock dreds as a vampire!!
Ugh no
@@nickimillennium why
💖💖💖💖💖💖💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜SAM REID XOXXO
Grey worm 😂
Jacob is gonna nail this role, he's so underrated as an actor and musician.
Claudia has to go already. I'm annoyed by her.
Ah, poor little man.
She was written that way
And why is that?
i'm so disappointed about claudia.
Why
She's fantastic. Get over it.
cry abt it
Claudia actually has one of the best development in the series. All you have to do is just sit down and watch it. This is not a hardcore adaptation where everything is 100% accurate. Even Anne knew that when she gave them permission. All that matters is that the main essence of the original characters are there.
Why, she’s an amazing young actress, and she’s gorgeous and sweet.
let the story seduce you ! me: your boring me
*you're
It was so bad and so much like a rape and slaughter of the original novel that I could even make it to episode one. I was so disappointed. They changed the timeline completely they changed Louie's character from a tormented sweet soul to a conman with a chip on his shoulder. Bad bad bad if Anne Rice had not passed away this would have killed her.... It's a vulgar interpretation made to appeal to the lower base instincts of mankind today. Garbage... Anne's books were filled with beauty and at level of intimacy completely missing from this mishmash of a nightmare that AMC is torturing us with. Even Lestat's character is lacking... I remember that she wanted somebody closer to Rutgar Hauer whom she envisioned while writing the character. And the battle was set when Tom Cruise was cast and Anne and her fans including myself were in an uproar. But Tom proved himself and this gentleman that is playing the character on the character on this horrible TV series is lacking. And why why do you have to ruin everything with PC bullshit... And I heard an ad where someone says AMC loves characters and Anne Rice has them in spades. Don't you dare think you can associate yourself with Anne Rice. AMC murdered everybody in interview with the vampire....
Louis Pointe Du Lac (in the novel) let Lestat kill one of workers when he was still a human. He also a killed a priest inside a church (as a vampire), He let Lestat feed on his slaves on a regular basis. He let Lestat kill all his slaves after he burnt his plantation house. Yes, he is a tormented sweet soul. Good thing Anne Rice didn't pass away right after criticizing Tom Cruise's casting or else you still would have been having a fit over it.
That’s ridiculous. Open up your mind a little bit. As a matter of fact Anne Rice had a lot to do with this. She had not passed yet when they were developing it. She also changed over the years on how she originally wrote it.
Also apparently you didn’t understand the book.
Wow, You're a very angry person. Go sit down somewhere and figure out why
"ruin everything with PC bullshit" - And again with the racism and homophobia...
You also clearly either never read the book(s) or at least didn't understand them if you think that Louis is simply a "tormented soul" who never did anything wrong.
11:07, 11:29 ++ lol
