Welcome back Lisa! Mark, you're punching mate!😁 Ramona is a stunner too and I'm glad to hear that the new tyres are an improvement. I have the standard Michelin 'Scorcher' tyres on my Sportster and they're pretty awful to be honest. Even in the dry it feels like the rear end steps out slightly. I'll try to source some Avons over here in Germany. Thanks for another great video!

I had a Road King Special for three weeks while my Road King was in for warranty work and I agree with you on the bags and handle bars, although I prefer the lower bars on my RK. What was an eye opener was how good the headlight on the Road King Special is compared to the Road King, so this is an upgrade I may have to make. If you really want to improve the ride quality then upgrade the suspension. I went for Legend suspension front and rear two years ago and it's made a huge difference; my wife finds it much more comfortable, especially on long tours, and the handling is much more confidence inspiring. The other thing about the Special is having to lean into the wind; ugly as it is, I really like the screen on my RK - it makes the ride much less tiring (and it's removable for when I'm just cruising). Keep up the videos, they're always well made and enjoyable to watch.
@@jjg1962 that’s really interesting bout the suspension, heard that a few times , I can’t imagine it being any more comfortable, it’s almost too comfortable already , but I like the idea of improving handling , the headlight is awesome . I was in Finchingfield that day. Anyways the tyres, yeah Dunlop suck changed mine out for Cobras on my Triumph Storm and the difference was unbelievable. Finchingfield very nice (when the bikes are not there) but for a real little, hidden gem try a visit to Wendens Ambo near Saffron Walden. Personally, when I am back in Essex I love visiting the villages on the Blackwater and Crouch- reminds me of teenage rides and sailing.
hi there... handlebar- and saddlebag design etc.. - it all remains a matter of personal taste and preferance, I reckon... just wanted to give credit to H-D reg. the stock version of the FLHRXS... -> I did not change any of those as I found it perfectly matching my personal needs. I am taking my bike on long hauls .... I mean real "long" ones, most of which 10k and more. The most significant mod. I did was adding the WILBERS NIVOMAT SUSPENSION, a detachable windshield, rear crashbars, and hwy pegs, plus .... -> the 7" daymaker adaptive headlight ... the rest was minor (e.g., blacked out LED indicator bulbs, a metal oil cooler cover, better shifter rod, luggage rack...)... and better looking mirrors of course
Couldn’t agree more .. it’s all personal and we all built differently, height weight etc and all have different needs . Great you didn’t need to change them . Saved you money to spend on suspension eh . Gotta have that bike just right for 10k plus trips .. good to hear from you mate ! Happy safe comfortable travels !!
I would love to ride in that part of the UK just once. It looks beautiful. We don't have anything like that here in the States. At least anything that historic. BTW the bars look good. 14s are over rated I think. Just get something comfortable.
Interesting how Lisa described the arse wiggle on the bike. I've just returned to riding after 40 years absence, and have started with an RE Classic350 before adding larger bikes to the stable. The RE's OEM Ceat tyres did the same wobble on me, and I thought I must have lost my nerve. I've since replaced them with Heidenau KH60s which are a tad aggressive, but we've shit backroads with potholes and gravel banks. Still not sure, but they're better than the Ceats. Avons next, methinks.
I’ve have to look that up ! Great roads out there , we took some tiny road out ended up like farm track , gravel in middle and two tyre tracks for miles , so thin bushes were whipping us haha was fun ..
Lots of roads like that in Essex and Suffolk. Ive done it many times myself, (ill just have a look down here) to then spend the next half hour contemplating my decision making whilst my old hardtail sounds like shes gonna break over every bump
Avon Cobra Chrome are amazing, I heard. They were designed in the UK, so I believe they should be able to cope with different kind of weather conditions. They are on my top for next tires for my Road King Special. The only sad thing is, the UK factory was closed down after 112 years! I heard they will come from French factory now, is that even true? I hope Cobra Chrome will be still in production, anyways. My Dunlops have 14000 miles and have still pretty good tread. But you’re right Mark, they’re not good in wet. Especially on wet grass! OMG!
Hi great vid as usual are the bars going to be on pull back risers sould be better fingers crossed ride free oh on rideing free government now looking at tests for over 60s

Regards the bike, you did a good thing changing those tyres, HD tyres fitted are to hard for our climate, wear well but lethal in the wet.
Also running apes on 97 RK and I no longer suffer the pain in hands or shoulders.
If I could reduce the vibes on the back seat, the Mrs might enjoy it more.
Look forward to the next Vid.

Really nice film - it’s the first time I’ve come across you guys. The beginning of the film and the music completely fooled me as I’ve never seen Southend look so good! Finchingfield is one of my favourite places to visit on my bike. You definitely capture why we do this. Ride safe!

Blondie’s back alright! Great video as ever Mark and Ramona looks the better for the new mods. I get that issue with the tyres. Already looking forward to your Spanish adventures. Ride safe

I’m pretty sure I’ll get this bike set up in a way I won’t have any pain .. even on long days . I got my last one right . I could ride 12 hours with zero aches . A tweak here and there . Bars always a risk as it’s not like you can try them first
Unless you know someone who got exactly same bike and set up
And if I did , I then wouldn’t want the same haha .
Yeah I still like long pannier also ,
I’ve packed them away safe . For another day . But it’ll help make it more mine and not look like all the others . I’ve only ever passed 2 or 3 Road king specials whole Time I’ve had it mind , not like I seen them a lot .

Great to have the versatility of an adventure bike … definitely times I see a lane and long for dirt tyres and that great tall suspension…

14's are gonna be super cool on the road king, I'm looking forward to seeing them on the bike!
@@Uncle_Tijikun Yeah I think it’ll be perfect for me .. always a risk ..
Great on dark country roads , night riding never been so much fun . . I got my new bars on yesterday, really stoked with them, it’s literally made me smile so much .. I was in Finchingfield that day. Anyways the tyres, yeah Dunlop suck changed mine out for Cobras on my Triumph Storm and the difference was unbelievable. hi there... handlebar- and saddlebag design etc..
