Yeah man, always rode with minimal stuff n cant get me head round folk that carry so much stuff and pull trailers, on a bike, each to their own i spose, these days i'm gettin comfort in the van with all, or most, mod cons, but i do miss the days of tarp toothbrush n a burner ❤

Ah man I took too much this time , definitely need to re-think . Although the tent saves of arses later in the series . And I do think after that . I will always carry some form of shelter . I took too many clothes only normally take one pair trousers 2 tees . I’ve become a tart . Swapping trousers etc haha Tarp toothbrush n burner best if you can get away with it !

Loved it Mark ❤ amazing production . Oh Granada , what a place. I loved the old cobbled walkway up to Alhambra with the statue of the flamenco king. I got up early and had the place to ourselves . I nearly wept when I walked into the cathedral too. What a pace , fancy going again ? 😊
@@bolton737 Yeah I know the cobbled road up … that view as you go up is just mind blowing. 100% will go again . Tbh I’d like to go there without the bike sometime so I could book to go in the fortress . And spend a week there , looking at the guitar shops and eating a lot haha . But when that side of Spain I could never not stop there .
@@LeanIntoTheWindit’s one of those places where getting lost is the thing to do. Yep I would love to spend a week there and like you would love to go inside the fortress we just saw the free stuff 😅. We stumbled upon a place called Mirador de San Nicolás it overlooks Alhambra. We sat there with a beer listening to the Romani playing guitars and doing flamenco it was intoxicating to listen to and watch.

Hi Mark and Lisa, another alternative to Camping is, Most Campsites have on site Chalets, Vans, Glamcamping Tents for rental. Really reasonable prices per night. I am planning a Spain bike tour in May and this really does appear to be a fantastic compromise. As you said, why load up the bike. Keep In The Wind Cheers
@@russellmanning4439 Yeah that’s good point . I did stay in chalet in Spain some years ago , was with two mates and we each had a tent , but less than 3 tents was chalet that slept 3 So was good choice .

Share your pain; its exactly what Lizzie and I said when touring the UK recently, re camping or choosing a guest house or air bnb. Carrying far to much gear and lugging it on and off the bikes at our age was just getting to much; we both ride and split the gear, btw, oh, and we love camping. We mostly have a two-day rule and check out the local area as much as possible. Honestly, the extra money for a room was well worth it, but the UK is very expensive.
@@BionicBikers Yeah you are dead right , uk is so expensive, we camp here , and many places it’s too much money for us . But good old Spain is very reasonable. The camp site was 5 euro less than some hotels we stayed . Crazy . We go to Scotland in spring and will wild camp , as hotels too expensive there and wild camp legal , I love camping but hate campsites . I like to wake alone , just the birds and nothingness. Two day rule is a good one !

Been there was awesome The place tapas were invented and one of the homes of flamingo So many great tapas bars 😮 and yes my sat nav kept trying me to ride up the pedestrian path to castle loads of peeps in uniform waving and getting excited spotted a nice tapas bar and parked outside then walked to the castle Granada is a wonderful vibrant city been 5 years since I was on these sweet roads thanks for the memories. As always quality video guys one love ❤Rest of Europe I do carry a 1 man tent. But Spain is great for cheap hotels every time I travelled it respect to the brother on the sports bike for the stop I love the camaraderie of bikers in Europe also you can also get great value chalet hotels in all mountains like dolomites alps etc as there expensive season is ski time and they always have a garage for the bike and often include a kitchen hotel prices here in UK are crazy bro as are cost of an expresso compared to Europe must be a real shock when they. Life is a learning process. I stay in hotels always now, especially if touring with my wife. It gives you an extra three hours or more a day to relax or explore and, although it is more expensive, in Eastern or Southern Europe the cost is manageable. You get a better nights sleep and a shower or swim every day. You can carry fewer clothes then use the hotel laundry service as well - many think this is overpriced but it's seldom more than the cost of a tank of petrol. I tour in the same way as you, so your videos are a joy to watch!

Totally hear you about hotel v camping. It's all about what works best for the trip really. Just about the rules on camping in Spain. You CAN but the rule is you should pitch at sunset and pack up at sunrise. Maybe just take a tarp, a double wool blanket and a couple of foam mats cause that time of year you dont all the super warm stuff as its not freezing cold. Plus a tarp means lighter and a nice open space to look out at the stars at night. Either way, great series and LOVE the fascination at the vending machine 🤣

She does wild camp on this trip , but not out of choice The Gods go against us later : But yeah I’m looking forward to going again and much lighter , but learnt one should always have a shelter . But yes blanket as doubled up to use on beach in day for laying on , and can get away with it for wild camp . Our therm-a-rest mats lighter and smaller than foam mat. I am gonna put together the lightest emergency wild camp set up ,
@LeanIntoTheWind yeah i have the thermarest mat as they are super light and warm. You can even get double hammocks which are super light and easy to pack. Love a hammock i do. I was gonna ask about the weather as i know when you were over Spain had a LOT of rain, even more since you left. Unreal this year rain wise. I imagine next year it'll be back to normal as this year was el niño and it's always bad. But as you say, when you can get a great hotel for €35 it makes sense. 👍
What to do? Leave the stuff somewhere and pick it up on the way home? Ship it back? Ask if someone has room who's travelling back to the uk? Or just grin and bear it and treat it as a life lesson. 😊 Love your stuff. Safe travels.
Minimal packing is definitely the way to go. It’s a real swings and roundabouts packing for a trip. My moto is pack light because you can always buy something if you need it. Try Euro camping where the tent is already up. Dirt cheap and usually have microwaves and beds off the floor. Just another option. Anything to keep the weight off the bike is worth considering. Another cracking video guys your keeping my spirits up while my bike is at the paint shop.
@@zozoa1 ah man I love camping , but never been fan of campsites . Hotels were so cheap , if I go that way same time next year I’ll do it different. Good idea with euro camp , but I think I’ll always take some kind of shelter , learnt when you need one you NEED ONE . I could do without the cooker as food was cheap to eat out , I need the coffee jet boil as no hotels have kettle , I can do without sleeping bags as we have a blanket , which we also use for beach , our camp mats weigh nothing and are very small . My tent is not huge packed up but I will look for one half that size , that way I think I can get all camp gear in one pannier . I’d hate not to be able to wild camp if opportunity arises . But for most part hotel if cheap . Hope the bike comes out that paint shop looking stunning !!!
@ Thanks man. I’m hoping it will too. Always a nerve racking time. Those hotels you guys are staying in look amazing and I can totally understand why you’re staying in them. I think if I was travelling on my own it would be a tarp over the bike I love the idea of being able to shuffle up at night and see the stars as long as I had a good sleeping Matt it’s happy days. However in reality with the wife on her bike it’s always a 3 man tent so we got room for the clothes if it’s raining. Having said that the allure of the hotel shower can be very tough to ignore not to mention the food and thick pile carpets. (Must be getting soft in my old age 🤣)
Shame to leave the camping gear behind for when the mood takes you… just a suggestion have you tried sitting Lisa up front on the ape hangers to balance out the load a bit? 😜

@@jhb0510 oh I hear you there . Almost everyone waves and stops to talk etc . How it should be . I pulled over a few weeks back as saw a young lad in a scooter in a lay-by . It was real cold . I thought he may just need petrol but he’d broke down , I have little idea about stuff like that but I had tools .. he told me it was going fine and then just cut out dead . No lights no nothing . So I took the front off and the battery lead had snapped .. so not connected , took five minutes to fix and he was off on his way and I felt like a proper old man haha . We mostly use booking.com on the day . Or if we close just wander in . And check price against online price Sometimes they beat it inside And sometimes it’s more inside And do it on the phone outside and go back in haha .

My tent is not huge packed up but I will look for one half that size , that way I think I can get all camp gear in one pannier . I’d hate not to be able to wild camp if opportunity arises . But for most part hotel if cheap . Hope the bike comes out that paint shop looking stunning !!!
@ Thanks man. I’m hoping it will too. Always a nerve racking time. Those hotels you guys are staying in look amazing and I can totally understand why you’re staying in them. I think if I was travelling on my own it would be a tarp over the bike I love the idea of being able to shuffle up at night and see the stars as long as I had a good sleeping Matt it’s happy days. However in reality with the wife on her bike it’s always a 3 man tent so we got room for the clothes if it’s raining. Having said that the allure of the hotel shower can be very tough to ignore not to mention the food and thick pile carpets. (Must be getting soft in my old age 🤣)
What month was that? I had that the same reflection on tent vs hotels and I love camping but... sometimes it's just not worth it.

I love camping and never thought I’d say that , but prices were so low, campsite was 30euro ffs .
@@LeanIntoTheWind I had that in many places. In Italy we paid once 45 euro per 2 small tents but the b&b was 46 ;)

@@theguitaristas hahaha not a bad idea . I’ am on hunt for the lightest smallest tent out there , as you’re right I couldn’t go away without it , and further down the road it becomes upmost necessity .

The thing I like most about Europe is that bikers are bikers, it doesn't matter what sort of bike you are on. There is none of the ridiculous bike snobbery that you get in the UK.

@@jhb0510 oh I hear you there . Almost everyone waves and stops to talk etc . How it should be . I pulled over a few weeks back as saw a young lad in a scooter in a lay-by . It was real cold . I thought he may just need petrol but he’d broke down , I have little idea about stuff like that but I had tools .. he told me it was going fine and then just cut out dead . No lights no nothing . So I took the front off and the battery lead had snapped .. so not connected , took five minutes to fix and he was off on his way and I felt like a proper old man haha .
We mostly use booking.com on the day .
Or if we close just wander in . And check price against online price
Sometimes they beat it inside
And sometimes it’s more inside
And do it on the phone outside and go back in haha .

Have you considered upgrading your suspension? there is area of them out there, myself im looking into Wilburs, the rear is self adjusting, always look forward to your adventures
