      Was it burned? I think I read that a hurricane destroyed the wood buildings and the Spanish governor ordered the city to be rebuilt with brick and mortar

      Es lo mismo en el resto de lo que hoy día es Estados Unidos. Salvo la costa Este todo el resto formaba parte del Vireynato de Nueva España, junto a lo que hoy día es Méjico. Sin embargo Hollywood hizo una película protagonizada por Fred McMurray y Charlton Heston donde "se cuenta" que los primero exploradores del medio oeste, la cuenca del rio Missisipi, fueron Lewis y Clark...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    The fact that you think the streets are empty because it's siesta time, is both funny and sad😅😅😅 siesta is just like a quick nap after lunch, 10-15 minutes and you are up again, ready for whatever comes next. But only SOME people does siesta. Most of the people don't get lunch at home, just like any other country😅😅😅
    Loved the video and your energy!! Hope you had fun in Spain, next time come to Penedès, it's the Cava region, you'd love it😊😊

      @@sierralovesdogs Ham (jamón) was carried around, and eaten in public as a sign by Christians to "prove" they were "Old Christians" and not "conversos" or Christians of Jewish origins, nor, much less, crypto Jews or crypto Muslims. This was in the 15th, 16th centuries during the Inquisition. The exhibition of pig legs is a survival of this social and ethnic prejudice.

    Those colored trash bins are for recycling different kinds of waste. The green dome-like ones are for glass bottles and jars, blue is for paper and cardboard, yellow for plastic and metal containers (bottles, cans, etc.), brown is organic and the other one is for the rest of the waste (non-recyclable). Recycling works quite well, except for plastics, I'd say.

    Of course it reminds you the streets of New Orleans.
    New Orleans was a part of the Hispanic Monarchy.
    It belonged to the Captaincy of Cuba and to the Viceroyalty of New Spain.
    (1763/1803)
    Spain left its mark specially on architecture.
    The balconies on its facades are essentially spanish.

      The crown of Castilla extended throughout América, in the north to Alaska and in the south to Tierra del Fuego.
      Wherever you go you will find vestiges and reminders of The Hispanidad.

    OMG that is how my husband would react to me - if he even would film me - LOL No Parkour. Brilliant escalators! Wow wine making has changed since the days when Lucy stomped on them (I love lucy reference). Do not know lavender blue - the animal storage inside was really cool. Agree Hugh Jackman impersonating Napoleon.

    Ohh, how exciting that you got to go!! 🤩 I like your ball cap, too! Oh, and watching the grapes. I'm not a big drinker, but I like sampling. And the process can still be interesting. I especially liked a type of ice wine I had once and thought that was interesting! I bet you would make it interesting enough for me to watch. I liked seeing the bell that was on the label in this one. And the place to dump the wine in the floor. 😅

    Logroño isn't a bad place to start in a spanish trip, but Haro should probably be the next logical step to get into the wine culture of La Rioja.
    I used to loves blackberrys (moras) when I was a child, but only the ones which came from a zarza (as the ones you pick there).
    13:05 The cabra, which is also the name for the goat in spanish, is a fish which tastes like shrimps. There aren't cobras in Spain, and we don't eat snake meat.

    If you come back to La Rioja, be sure to visit the La Estación district in Haro, the largest concentration of century-old wineries in Europe, and Laguardia, a charming medieval town, the first 40 km from Logroño and the second 12 km from Logroño.

    I just finally had a chance to watch San Sebastián video #1, which was so much fun and definitely makes me want to watch part 2 now! I’m relieved you didn’t hurt yourself in this video either at the airport or on that skateboard thing. The tapas all looked so good, but all the scenes with wine were my favorite!!! 🍷 🍷 and more 🍷 videos please!!! I’ll watch them all. I love all the details and observations in your videos. From spitting in the middle of the floor to Hugh Jackman in the wall. Everything about this video was so well done!!! Does it take you longer to edit these vlog style videos? Did you start editing on the flight home? And P.S. hope you had an awesome 50th birthday!!! 🎉

Yes because I start with the footage which was like 75 mins and then cut down and do voiceovers and last add some stills. But it might be my favorite “style”! That being said, it’s not hitting my “target” audience so you’re about to see a lot of content aimed at my target coming next!

      @@elreydelabaraja75 Hay quien tiene mucha historia pero lo que podrías ver ha desaparecido, tienes el ejemplo de Valencia, siendo un reino apenas quedan un par de torres y una penosa catedral, Ciudades como Granada, Salamanca, Córdoba entre otras si han cuidado su legado, he visitado la ruta de los monasterios yes una gozada desde Cantabria hasta el monasterio de Piedra en Aragón, España tiene mucha historia pero hay quien ha sabido cuidar el legado y otros lo han destruido por construir viviendas

    There it didn't say "cobra", but "cabra", ("goat").
    Specifically "Rulo de cabra" or "Goat roll", a way of denominate goat cheesse cause usually is in a roll (rulo) form.

    Hello… I’m spanish (good video by the way). One comment however. Is crszy to me how you areicans don’t seem to know your history. You were surprised of the resamblence of New Orleans or California to what you hsve seen… Did you know those places belonged to Spain? They belonged to spain even more time than to mexico (spanish heitage anyway) or the USA.
    But a good video anyway.

      @@jacoboderegoyossainz3104 we don’t really learn state history except our own and US History is more of an overview. I have been to New Orleans several times but I live 2500 miles away so I don’t know the history of it well. Not sure if that makes sense.

    I prefer it to "feel dirty", than to watch on US television how the American police just killed another innocent civilian (including women and children) for a minor traffic violation, or for not obeying their order quickly enough, or because they didn't understand English, or for, "oops, a mistake", with total impunity (make that "the police will investigate its own crimes...) Let's say nothing about the food, housing, health, etc, etc.
