    Greetings from N.Ireland.superb series and your sense of Northern humour is brilliant !! We have been lucky ( me and sat nag on the back) to do over the years most what you done, but nice to see from another persons point of view !.
    You mentioned the battle of Anzio my Father was a Royal Navy Able seaman on the landing craft that put the British troops on the beach, he then went on to the D-Day landings in June that same year being in the first wave to hit Juno beach putting the Canadians on the beach. He told me Anzio was worse than D-Day in his experience. When I listened to you in the commonwealth cemetery you had me welling up also. He passed in 2017 aged 95 good innings considering !! Your comments gave me a good laugh, not enough signs? What are these big white arrows on the road for, only one way you can go, the roundabout route stops holdups out of the parking area when it's really busy. As for temperature the last time I used the tunnel from Calais in 2022 it was 30 degrees plus with around 30 minutes wait in the sun before the customs and around 10 to 20 minutes in the final waiting area. The bikes temperature gauge was over 40 degrees by this time. Found it no problem to go through checkout as I had prebooked it months before and had a code number to enter.

But that said your spot on re signing and also having to loop the loop from car park to train so no p*ss take intended. What did amaze me was finding out you cannot just turn up and buy a ticket. How stupid is that given you can if you take a ferry. Now looking forward to following your trip. Spring will soon be here.

      @@MotoTripTV the roads haven’t been repaired for 20 years man, you don’t think that shit roads just happened in the last 5 surely? The Tory effect is a huge contributing factor. But 50 years ago our roads were better , effectively maintained by people that worked directly for the local authority not some corporate subsidiary. The eu had us create test centres at vast expense using the best materials so that kids could do the cbt and milenials can pass their trailer test. The money was diverted from road maintenance.

    You've got that Merlin mesh jacket same as me, I've yet to dare go touring in it. I was going to wear a heated vest and a lightweight down jacket under it with a waterproof to go over it but seems a faff , i'm sure i would appreciate it when it gets hot, it's mainly my arms that suffer when it gets chilly. How did you get on with it and how did you layer up, would be interested to know , i've tried so much crap to find the perfect touring jacket i doubt it even exists .

    • @MotoTripTV
      @MotoTripTV  7 месяцев назад +1

      The jacket was comfy to all day ride in, its made to let air flow and it does so you need a windproof over layer when in colder weather.
      I wore and under armour zipped top underneath when it got a little chilly and if it rained i wore an Oxford Rainseal over jacket which is windproof too.
      The combination did work, but as you say changing layers each time you stop is a faff.
      Ive since bought a Klim Carlsbad jacket and pants which is better for all year riding but you still need a fleece under it in cold weather. in hot weather the merlin jacket would be better as the air flow through the vents on the Klim is poor.

    Ive used the tunnel many times on the bike. Lessons I've learned... Don't use satnav - follow signs off the motorway but pay attention, if you get lost there aren't any signs!, stick together if you all want to be on the same train, don't park up int at shelter near the terminal, go straight through the 2 passport controls as there is often a big queue. If you are early they usually put you on an early train to get rid of you. No need to tie bikes down - be careful as you get off your bike as the next rider will be closer than you expect. Don't fall off as you leave the train!

    Suprised you couldn't rock up and buy the crossing at a manned booth.
    I had to do that in 2019 when the bike broke down and need recovery. Finished the trip in a hire car so needed to get the crossing last minute. Turned up and paid at check-in. Also claimed it back as part of the recovery insurance.

    You seem to forget that this is a hard international border. Thanks to Brexit, it will even get more difficult when ETIAS is in place. Also in Folkstone you can only enter the tunnel via an exit of the motorway. For some reason you turned around at the first roundabout instead of young straight on. It seems you entered the address of Euro tunnel offices in your sat nav because that's were you ended up.

    He had to make a claim against the train operator.
