I made these 3d printed tape guides for cassette tape looping instead of bearings. I expect the tape to slowly degrade from rubbing but haven’t noticed any yet myself. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4485661/comments
Lil tip if you ever have to saw by hand again. if you make contact either on just the push or pull of the saw instead of on both strokes, then you'll find more control. Same technique as filing with files. Supposedly this takes care of the blades but ive no idea on that. Kudos on thos dope idea and execution
It’s not the right method at all but we just added a wire between the spring and the red(+) on the piezo pick up. It worked for what we needed. Lots of proper DIY spring reverb tutorials online. We probably should have watched one before! Haha
@@BatteryOperated Hi, thanks for the reply. How was that delay recorded onto the tape if I am not mistaken the signal is going from piezo > record head > output of the tape player then to the delay and recorder/speakers? thanks
@@howva You're absolutely right yes, if you're talking about when it comes to us adding "The Quad" as we call it, you'd have to connect a line out from the quad(delay) to a line in on the dictaphone if you wanted the delay to land on the tape loop
Cool project! But you know you can use your dremel to make several holes in line to cut the box so you didn’t really needed to buy that funky new tool right?
The background music is from our small library of music that we have created in all our previous projects, i think the one in this video was made mostly with just an OP-1, however sample packs etc are coming soon so we will be making new music with it when recording that, hopefully everyone else can find some good use for the samples too. also if you're just interested in the background music in general we are going to start uploading the tracks to Soundcloud, links in description!
Great work!!! Love your creativity!
Cool Vid & project, going to go check more ov yer vids. What's that delay box, that thing looks killer...?
You guys are a pair of Geniuses !!!
This is epic!!! Please make an updated version 2
Would love to buy one
we wanted to bring it to the store but we've nearly run out of Dictaphones aha!

Thanks bro
Any time :D

nice one, we actually bought a vice recently too hah!
i respect the creativity and seeing it through! this is cool af
Awesome work! Love kalimbas and tape loops so... make them to sell! 🔥🔥
This is absolutely sick
I've got like a small 1/4" tape reel to reel dictaphone type unit that I think would work amazing for this
if you get a chance tag us on Instagram with a picture, even if you didn't make a kalooper, the reel to reel dictaphone sound very cool!
I love it guys! When can I buy one?
Hopefully January. Planning the online store at the moment! Glad you enjoyed it.
@@BatteryOperated Fantastic! I'd love it if it came with the customized loop cassette you guys made in the video. Fun stuff! :)
Those have to be redesigned slightly but they will be on the store also. The one we shipped to Magpie didn’t survive the journey!
@@BatteryOperated Great, thanks! Hoping shipping to the US won't be a Killa! Cheers
Any closer opening the store? Where would be the best place to get notifications for that? Your twitter? Anxiously awaiting :)
It's awesome! What about giving it an aux. input? 🤔 Then in theory anything could be added to the tape loop 😳
Already has an aux in.
Right on! I didn't notice. Could you possibly make one of those tape loops machines in a guitar pedal format? I would 💯 buy that!
that's a good idea, we will look into that... a foot-switch operated tape loop guitar pedal!
Cool stuff! I actually just got 2 of those kalimbas- I’ll probably put a pickup in one (or both, I have a bunch), but not gonna put a tape deck in 😁
a pick-up into something reverby and you're set aha!
@@BatteryOperated I've got several of those, and several delays 😁
You could keep a small magnet nearby to erase the tape when you want to make a new loop
Hell yeah! This is a solid idea 💡
Awesome! Truly! Where can I buy? 😂😂😂
So awesome!
Thanks for watching! More to come!
Great job, haha! I never start with the right tools either! It sounds really good also , definitely an idea to copy at a later date! :)
This is so awesome, thank you
🥳🥳🥳🥳😁😁😁😁
Can someone explain to me the connections of how the reverb is added to the tape loop thanks

Cool guys, Let's make a carbon case for this one too...Would look super slick!
I'm going to try and make one. So good!
nice one! the build isn't too tough, just helps if you have wood working skills.....unlike us ahah

AMAZNG! MORE TUTORIALS PLS
we got a new tape loop tutorial uploaded if you're interested!
Nice! The tune that sounds through the video was made with it?
