1. Life experience is more important than intelligence/IQ- put more experience into your years 2. Effective communication- how others perceive you decides whether you get opportunities 3. Patterns of the past will continue in the future unless it is acted upon by you- get advice from mentors if you can't figure out what is wrong 4. Personal philosophy trumps effort 5. Personal growth is the key towards fulfilment 6. A penny saved is not a penny earned- time is more valuable than money, invest wisely 7. Pursuit of success is a lie- becoming the person that attracts/deserves it, success will find its way to you
still in school. What struck me the most is "It's not about putting more years in your experience but putting more experience in your years"! I believe that what people should hear is this.
Thank you 12 years auto mechanic. Went back to school at 29 and majored in psychology and electronics Yes, experience is important .. today, I meet , theory ,but on hands experience is much more real. Than you Grace.. Downey California
So true. Degree and intelligence can’t get me higher above a middle manager position. I have 3 masters but I feel I am stuck in a manager position and hard to be promoted to a director level 😢
The 1st tips hit me to the core. It’s so true. I remember my biology department head spoke to me like I was an idiot, because I failed his exam. Reason, I failed was because I was a freshman putting myself thought school with three jobs with my own health issues ; unlike my peers
Thanks, Dr. Lee, I hoped that I was able to hear these 7 points long time ago when I just started my career. Actually I wished that I was able to hear those videos you made when I started my careers long time ago. The more I watch your videos, the more I feel strength, power and confidence to approach my goals. When they bring me more energy, they do initiate my creativeness not only into my life, but also my careers. Thank you so much!
Good stuff. Keep it going. I’m here for it. Gained lots of nuggets of both knowledge and wisdom from this video. Edit after watching the whole video: My favorite tip was “Philosophy trumps effort”.
Thank you for sharing this Dr Grace. This is Great!! I actually also made a similar video in my channel regarding things I wish I knew before starting Mechanical Engineering. Thanks for the inspiration :)
