Sometimes I'll start a sentence, and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope to find it along the way. Like an improv conversation. An improversation.
Here’s the thing: 1. Leverage their intake style - visual, auditory and kinesthetic 2. Lean on their behaviors - demanding, social, laid back, analytical 3. Learn how others see you - they see you through your eyes 4. Lay them down in writing first 5. List them out with a structure 6. Learn the words - expand vocabulary 7. Lose the stage fright - fear of what others may think
Actually I see this differently. Other people see me through their eyes, not through mine because what I say is being filtered through their experiences and beliefs and that gives rise to their perception about me, e.g he looks frustrated when he said that. But I may not actually feel frustrated. Grace are u trying to say that other people see me through my behaviours ? I don’t see how they can see through my eyes... can u explain what u mean?
My biggest challenge is when I get asked something that i have not prepared for , then I feel like I cant digest the question quick enough and response with the answer that I want to give. ( usually I will have better answer after I do the reflection at the end of it ) 🤣
Same here! But it gets better after... So what I do is I seek experience.. I just get trouble expressing a certain thought the first or second time.. 😊 I learn not to be afraid of making mistakes..
Sounds like everyone! I think the best thing that works for me is to not feel like you have to rush an answer. Actually slow down and listen to the question. Even pause to reflect and even ask the person to repeat themselves or clarify before you answer. I found that gives you time to not rush and say something crude or confusing until you fully digest the question and collect thoughts. Sometimes I also repeat parts of the question to myself or out loud and that provides a prompt to collect an appropriate response to what’s being asked.
I most definitely need this. I often struggle to articulate what's going on in my head. I think a lot of it is to do with confidence. Thank you for making this video
The craziest thing is that I was thinking to myself “ I need to articulate my thoughts better” , tell me why I open RUclips and this is recommended, also I rarely watch content like this so that was crazy
When I was 11, and the only Spanish speaking student present, my teacher asked me to translate for a latino parent who had shown up in class inquiring about his child. I froze and couldn't get my words out. That stayed with me. 30 years later and I still feel guilt over letting my teacher and the parent down. Back at college in my 40s and beginning to have those feelings of failure again.... I will make it about them Dr Grace Lee. You're an 😇 🙏🏽😭
“People don’t see you through their eyes, they see you through yours!” ... this is true... this explains why at times, depending on the people you are talking to/ who you’re with determines one’s confidence level... hmmm, makes sense!
It's more like, how you see yourself influences how the other person sees you, and it also influences their confidence level in you. They don't determine your confidence level; they don't have that power!
Thank you. I once learned four types of learners: 1. listeners, 2. listeners who are major note-writers✍🏽 3. people who experience (listen or watch) an example, and 4. people who do the example, themselves, for themselves (and/or others). Will listen🎧 to this again. I certainly agree with you re parallelism. Cheers📣.

I'm glad it was a big help! I hear you say that you live in your thoughts most of the time. I challenge you not to place a judgment on it like it's a bad thing. Find all the ways that you can leverage that for growth, influence, and achievement. Because every trait we see as bad about ourselves has an equally good quality.
My greatest challenges are #7 fear of what others think and I feel like to my words and thoughts are not aligned ... Sometimes thinking faster than in speaking
I’m glad I found your videos. I feel this might just help me grow in my speech. But one of my challenges is gathering my thoughts when being approached quickly by someone that is in authority, now this happened one time, but I want to make sure it doesn’t happen again.(My Job) But, I show respect nod my head but it’s like they’re stern and don’t speak back but be quick to point out the wrong that I’ve done. Also, my issue is those deep thoughts I have, and I want to say them but it’s hard to dig them out and speak I think it’s because I don’t know how to articulate them.
That's amazing that you got instant results with your speaking!! Congratulations for implementing right away. I hope to hear more WINS from you again soon!

I've never had issues with articulating my thoughts even speaking publicly. But ever since the lock down I've been struggling a lot with socialising and expressing my thoughts in a fluent way. When I talk now I need a lot of time to find the right words and phrases. And sometimes it's hard to convey an idea in a grammaticly correct way, and often after I've spoken like 2 sentences, I'd forget what I was even trying to say at the start its quite frustrating. Sometimes I'm not even sure what the problem is. Is it ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, lack of socialising, lack of practice because I've graduated from uni or something else? Right now I'm taking English class hoping that would improve my situation a little.
I have trouble even forming sentences to even write. All my thoughts are jumbled. So.much so then I think, well, it's nothing original so it's not worth it. I get an "it is what it is attitude". And that is just further debilitating. I think it's lacking in confidence, anxiety and ADD. We can be such hard critics of ourselves.

Haha I was just practicing a conversation in the shower the other day and was thinking about how I need to articulate my thoughts better. So glad I found your channel, Dr. Lee!!
Dr. Lee, good morning! Thank you for making up so great points! I have heard several times about expending vocabulary. I deeply agree with you because I can say that one of my main challenges are vocabulary. I know that it would take some time for me to accumulate those words. But I don't have time. I have to do it ASAP! Also, the scope is too big for me to accumulate them! Would you please recommend some resources, like books, videos...? I really feel that your words and the combination are very precise, very smooth, also very easy to be understood. I hope that someday I can speak like you! Thank you so much!

Learned a lot from this. Need to rewatch this and go over all the points. And yes, I love the last one on how to lose the stage fright, taking off self👍💖

“Practice doesn’t make perfect, it makes permanent.” I’ve tried to explain this to teachers that assign at home assignments but students don’t fully understand the content.
I appreciate you! Thank you for blessing this space with your presence. I'm cheering you on. That which you believe and work consistently towards, you shall achieve.
Practicing does help of people can feel little increments of improvements but I think sometimes people bomb and then they almost get PTSD and they don’t ever want to do it again! I agree that it’s more about inner confidence rather than just practicing 🙂

“Practice doesn’t make perfect, it makes permanent.” I’ve tried to explain this to teachers that assign at home assignments but students don’t fully understand the content.

Absolutely excellent help and pointers. Thank you
Practicing does help of people can feel little increments of improvements but I think sometimes people bomb and then they almost get PTSD and they don’t ever want to do it again! I agree that it’s more about inner confidence rather than just practicing 🙂
