- A young lawyer, Jane Liu, is assigned by her mentor to help Mdm Wong, a 75 years old repeated shoplifter, as a pro bono defense counsel.
What seems to be an easy open and shut case suddenly takes a weird turn when Jane discovers that Mdm Wong’s repeated petty crimes are intentional and deliberate.
Jane suspects and worries that Mdm Wong could be a victim of elderly abandonment and decides to take action upon herself, only to realize that her ulterior motive is to relief herself from being her son’s burden.

@@rehkak3409 Well its true but i was just trying to say that it is so sad that elderly wants to not be a burden so they purposely want to leave or find a way to not be one and some of the ways are bad and they are torturing themselves. I just wished that they wouldn't do that.

Unfortunately this is a problem in a few places where the elderly are too poor or too lonely. They commit small crimes like stealing so that they can go to jail and be taken care of and have people to talk to.
Some of eldery from other country such as Japan also do crimes intentionally so they will be taken care of by the goverment in jail.... At least they could get free place to sleep, nice food, & can do their hobbies such as knitting with no worries of the rest of the world there...

This is one of the reasons why people choose to become pro bono lawyers. To defend those who haved erred and for good reason. The helplessness the lawyer must feel for that elderly lady in that situation.

this is so sad..i’m crying hysterically. singapore should help old citizens like the grandma greatly! it’s so heartwarming on how grandma wants to help her son! If i were there, i would help her out in anyway i can!
The way the grandma talk,walk & looks totally looks like my favourita aunt,i haven't talk to her for awhile as i am too busy with work & life. I miss her so much as she has always look like my late mother.. maybe that's why i'm avoiding her unintentionally.

my grandmother would always sacrifice everything she has for me and my cousin. She is poor but my family and her other children are financially stable so whenever i go to her house for a sleepover i would always bring my mother that i have saved from my savings and from my school pocket to give her for her meals and medicine . My cousins also helps so that gives her a total of more than $500 every two konths we go to her house

often old parents are left behind in the rest of their lives. whatever the reasons, busy, long distance, child , etc. I so sad to know this fact but on this film, even grandma don't to be a burden to his son and go away from his son. I don't have any idea what I will say to grandma if I in that son's position. I just thinking that don't care anybody is cruel enough.

Had the grandma chose to live with her son, would have taught wisdom to grandkid and her son. Instead it was the pro-bono lawyer who learnt a life lesson. Singapore boasts of programs caring for elderly. It is a lesson learnt to handle this emotional yet realistic truth that as a society we are cruel to elderly, animals, planets, children and in effect to nurturing nature. What a way to see our lives thru the prism of an old lady. Have we failed ourselves.

This story shows the reality for most elderly people especially Asians who worked hard to support their kids. They thought their kids would support them when they get old. The sad reality is Asians worry more about their own kids than their parents. They have forgotten how much their parents scarified for them. Elderly people do not want to be burden to their children. It is the government who needs to support them so they can live with other elderly people or their family so they feel they are useful again.

This grandma is so nice and caring of her son unlike my grandma who keeps gambling and my family paid huge debt even till today there’s so much debt left. My grandma not only is not grateful to my mom still call her a bitch and my grandma was the one torn my family away my mom and dad fight and divorce cuz my grandma hated my dad and stepbrothers. The main reason cuz they don’t give her money.
