WOW!!!!! This is one of the cleanest vintage videos from the 1980's featuring the NYC Breakers, the Dynamic Rockers and other dancers!!! I love that Poppin, Lockin' and Electric Boogie styles were featured too. Right before the final routine the ladies got there shine too.
The old timers were pleased to see old break style moves re imagined, look at old films from 20’s/30’s etc, them great acrobats of yesteryear got down & it was revived through breaking.. everything is cyclical
Thanks for uploading a high quality version. It was a landmark event for break-dancing which was still relatively young in those days. Nice to see so many of that audience smiled, clapped and rose to their feet. It was something so different in their lives, so genuine, unique and still a little underground they knew it was special. We take it for granted these days but in those days this was revolutionary music, dance and culture which challenged peoples perceptions.
Check Mr Wave out….he was on one….popping, floatin across the stage, check him out in the end in the back hitting his moves…..lol 😅 he rocked that shit!
Je n'ai qu'une chose à dire : vive l'option sport en distanciel ! Ps: belle performance Pss : mon devoir va rapidement être rendu, je ne connais rien au hip hop...
THis footage is edited… Check FlipRock at 3:38 going into his backspin, him being magically out of it at 3:40, then back into the SAME EXACT BACKSPIN at 3:42. I wonder why this editing was done.
also at 2:11 the guy in red (sorry, don't know his name) has on a white glove or something when he starts to spin on one hand, then it magically cuts to him with his sleeve pulled down over his hand
I loved hip hop, because it was inclusive and invited all walks of life into its tapestry. I grew up seeing all types of people displaying their talents and abilities. But somewhere down the line as I grew older, I have seen how racist it can be, and has become. Hip Hop is not Rap, it’s a movement inspired by and influenced by all races of people, not just one. It saddens me to see how ignorant it has become and how it seems it’s only based on how much of a criminal you can be and less on whether or not you have any talent to do any element to it.
Exploitation and commercialization ruined hiphop. Even here they take the dance but leave out the DJ, graffiti writer and MC. But the birth of hip hop was from the black community. The Up-rock was taken from line dancing done in the BLACK COMMUNITY in the 20's. B-boying/B-girling was done by blacks first and the Puerto Ricans put it on it's back.
I realized I'm only 15 and I like shit from NY and the Bronx Manhattan everything but I'm sadly from Vegas where there are not a lot of b-boys and b girls
White folders are like: oh my gosh so wonderful these poor kids... So amazing! Let's just hope they stay in their neighborhoods 😂😂😜 Then when the dancers run down the isles at the end WHITE FOLKS starting yelling SECURITY, DEA, HOMELAND SECURITY PLEASE HELP 😂😂😂😜😜😜😜😱😱😱
STILL SHOCKED AT HOW CRYSTAL CLEAR THIS VIDEO IS. I WAS 16 AT THE TIME AND A TELEVISION THAT WOULD REBROADCAST IN THIS QUALITY DIDN'T EXIST IN STORES.
I was 15 if it was '83, what a time to be alive even though I lost my Dad the previous year. It was Joy & Pain simultaneously.
I’m 50 and still love this!!!
One of the most fantastic Modern day Minstrel Show's i've ever seen!! Bravo

THE AUDIENCE HERE WOULD HAVE APPRECIATED BREAKDANCING SHOULD BE IN THE OLYMPICS IN 2028. THE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE SO GOT IT WRONG.

I want to believe that there wore some white folks that wore not that ignorant, and knew these kids wore talented.
You obviously wasn't born at that era
Gotta love Ronald Reagan pointing out some moves he invented 😬
