    Thanks for this great memory. I think my friend, George Riddle (as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh) is on the upper deck, stage left. Thanks for the arrows! I saw this number that night in '88. I'd tuned in to see Miss Loy honored and to see my friend, Mr. Bobby Short.

    It's a singer named Chris Connor from her self-titled album "Chris Connor" released in 1956. I found it on iTunes when looking for music for my tap classes.

    That would make sense, wouldn't it? But no, not Ethel Merman that year. We were part of the section honoring Myrna Loy, an actress from the '30s and '40s best known for playing Nora Charles to William Powell's Nick Charles. Anything Goes just happened to be playing the National Theater in DC at the time and they invited us to be on the show. It was incredibly exciting, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
