Hi, Marty, my name is also Marty. I have been following you for a while. After college and attending Duquesne University, I started my first band. Played professionally till about 10 years ago that they told me that I had neuropathy and couldn't play keyboards or guitar. My hands and feet hurt all the time. I have been practicing my guitars but I can't coordinate or syncopated my little finger and hand finder. I have begun therapy after I had cervical nerve surgery to help me. The doc said I may gain 70 percent back, but it can take as much as 7 months. I go to occupational therapy and I seem to be making progress, so I can wait for your advanced program. Keep up the great work. Martin Pearlman
I really hope you get well, or okay by now. I'm sort in the same boat. I am under control now but I have bad days. My nerve disease is called myasthenia gravis. It's more a muscular thing. It's a lot easier for me to play piano than it is guitar but my love of guitar is too overwhelming. I don't necessarily watch these for lessons as such as you probably don't because you're a professional guitarist. I look for short cuts for finger shapes. There's another guy you should check out called Justin guitar. He's also amazing. I'd love him and Marty to collaborate.

Hey Marty, how bout a huge favor? Can you teach the song "ONE STEP UP" by Bruce Springsteen?? There is NOT a lesson on you tube for it, and you'd bring this song to life!! Please and Thank you fine Sir!!
Thanks Partner, would never figured that out on my own..love ‘Drop D’ adds a lot of fullness..the picking intro reminds me of Andy Sumner’s intro on ‘Every Breath you take’ subscribed!
Long time user of your super clear and accessible lessons Marty, cheers once again! Couple things i found fun once you get the basics down; i like to stay on the 5th fret and just get off the A string in the pre chorus instead of making a "cowboy" d there....i have no clue what that is but it sounds like another d and its just throatier....also like how it sounds to hit it open once coming off that walk up and hitting the 7th fret power chord, super fun song to play with.
Marty I know I am commenting on an old lesson, but while I love the tutorial, I think I may like the comments more. You are more than reach and teach, you reach and help. Wonderful. Congratulations for what you do.
Hey Marty! I just graduated college and found I have a lot of time on my hands. I've ALWAYS wanted to learn to play guitar. Everlong is one of my all time favorite songs. I have no music theory knowledge but out of curosity I decided to just look up a lesson video on how to play this song. I watched many videos but I kept coming back to this one. After watching and listening I decided to grab my boyfriends acoustic guitar. I've only been playing for 3 days and I was so excited when I heard myself playing AND it actually sounded like the song. I'm still on the first part but that's ok. My poor fingers can only handle so much lol. I just wanted to say thank you for being such an amazing teacher and explaining things in a way that someone with no prior experience can tap their inner rockstar

can you show how to play - lern to fly - by the foo fighters
Looks like you only touch the top strings with your right hand. Why do you have to hold the other strings with your left hand if you don’t use them?
@@midgarden to mute the other strings you dont need....
So awsome that you are back ! I've been following your tutorials for 5 years now, time flies ! Keep rocking !
Please do Stranger things have happened by Foo Fighters please. It's my favourite and I can't find a good tutorial on it.

That was great. I thought it was much harder , I was getting the feel for that after 15 minutes of practicing. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your videos. I'm a beginner and you've helped me a lot. I love this song and always wanted to learn how to play it. I just can't get the strumming pattern right. Any tips?
Adam Godwin slow down. Its the only way to get fast and be accurate. No shortcuts in guitar unfortunately.
Adam Godwin Practice makes perfect 👌
The Schwartz is with us even during the time of Covid. Cheers

Marty Could You teach how to play Hey Johnny Park by the foo fighters or the pretender also by the foo fighters?
Gotta say you're the best online teacher Marty! Thank you so much for all your help.
Long time user of your super clear and accessible lessons Marty, cheers once again! Couple things i found fun once you get the basics down; i like to stay on the 5th fret and just get off the A string in the pre chorus instead of making a "cowboy" d there....i have no clue what that is but it sounds like another d and its just throatier....also like how it sounds to hit it open once coming off that walk up and hitting the 7th fret power chord, super fun song to play with.
that chugging is a hand work out
Discover Shangri-La indeed
Marty I know I am commenting on an old lesson, but while I love the tutorial, I think I may like the comments more. You are more than reach and teach, you reach and help. Wonderful. Congratulations for what you do.
rip taylor hawkins 🖤
I don’t know how to tune down a step🤦♂️
If your D string is properly tuned on standard tuning, play both the E and D string and let them ring out and tune the E string until they blend
Press the second fret of E while tuning and tune it to standard E
I use the GuitarTuna app, I learned if you tune the top string to -20 it is where you’d want to be to be in drop D
get a tuner
Watch Marty’s tuning video
Let’s do autumn house ending by muddy drawers. Yay! 🥳
