Hi, Marty, my name is also Marty. I have been following you for a while. After college and attending Duquesne University, I started my first band. Played professionally till about 10 years ago that they told me that I had neuropathy and couldn't play keyboards or guitar. My hands and feet hurt all the time. I have been practicing my guitars but I can't coordinate or syncopated my little finger and hand finder. I have begun therapy after I had cervical nerve surgery to help me. The doc said I may gain 70 percent back, but it can take as much as 7 months. I go to occupational therapy and I seem to be making progress, so I can wait for your advanced program. Keep up the great work.

I really hope you get well, or okay by now. I'm sort in the same boat. I am under control now but I have bad days. My nerve disease is called myasthenia gravis. It's more a muscular thing. It's a lot easier for me to play piano than it is guitar but my love of guitar is too overwhelming. I don't necessarily watch these for lessons as such as you probably don't because you're a professional guitarist. I look for short cuts for finger shapes. There's another guy you should check out called Justin guitar. He's also amazing. I'd love him and Marty to collaborate.

I learned this song a while ago back by you when I was at my most highest times in life and loved guitar but a few months a go I went through a break up with my girlfriend and it’s really split my life, my family and my school under going suspensions it really threw me off my hobbies and I stoped guitar but just recently I’ve decided to try to learn all the old songs that I learned up to 3 years ago with you on your videos and learning this song YOU taught me a year ago. brings back so much nostalgia and all the great memories your songs brought me are flooding back in my head and this feeling is a feeling i haven’t feelt in a long time. I just wanna say thank you marty music for bringing me out of my worst times with your music.

Being that this video is no longer new, I wouldn't be surprised if you never read this, Marty.
However, I feel compelled to thank you enormously.
I'm in my middle twenties now, and this song was sort of a theme amongst myself and a few really close friends I had in my formative years. Unfortunately, in the last few years they've all since passed away, far too soon for such young guys, all of whom were younger than I.
I've wanted to learn to play this for years, but for whatever reason I never bothered to.
Well, now I have, and I'm so thankful that I have.
It brings back some small piece of them that I've been missing dearly for far too long.
    So, thank you Marty.
    You're incredible.

hi marty. i’ve been following your channel since june of 2017. years ago i was in the car with my father- we were on the way to have my beloved dog who ironically was named marty cremated. on the way my father passed in a fatal accident and i was the lone survivor. guitar was my fathers world, i have so many memories of him playing it growing up. i took it up as a hobby after he passed in his honor. i was then thrusted into a cruel cruel world and faced years of abuse in the foster care system. my fondest memories of these times were sneaking out in the dark of night and walking for hours on end to my friend marty’s house so i could play guitar and bring some light into those dark days in my life. i later escaped and left this place armed with nothing but my guitar and a dream. i was homeless for so long and occasionally would crash at my friends place. seeing your face on the screen always lit up my insides and brought me solace. you also brought me the joy of discovering what my true desires were…. i am a 47 year old man and truly you awoke something in me.. you made me realize my true identity. i am proud to say that i am a HOMOSEXUAL and you , marty, were the perpetrator. you stole my heart, you reside in it at all hours. it’s yours for keeping. see you soon.
    love,

Am a complete “just got a guitar out of the box”!beginner but this lesson was perfect to get me playing something I wanted to hear.
The pace of the lesson is just right. The instructions and tips spot on (albeit I gotta couple of cheats of my own).
Stuff like chugging to get started really helped... but after four weeks I was finding I was naturally dropping into the rhythm my ear wanted to hear.
Final tip for everyone... after Marty’s lessons, listen to the FF live at Wembley... play along... slows you down to get cleaner and tighter... but then you can let rip.

I would personally love to have an interview with Dave grohl just to see what his creative style is like and how he came up with this particular track is something I really really want to ask him. It is very clever and sounds magnificent, albeit, simple. The best music is written very simply and comes across as multi-layered and complex. This is quite simply one of the best songs of all time

Long time user of your super clear and accessible lessons Marty, cheers once again! Couple things i found fun once you get the basics down; i like to stay on the 5th fret and just get off the A string in the pre chorus instead of making a "cowboy" d there....i have no clue what that is but it sounds like another d and its just throatier....also like how it sounds to hit it open once coming off that walk up and hitting the 7th fret power chord, super fun song to play with.

Hey Marty! I just graduated college and found I have a lot of time on my hands. I've ALWAYS wanted to learn to play guitar. Everlong is one of my all time favorite songs. I have no music theory knowledge but out of curosity I decided to just look up a lesson video on how to play this song. I watched many videos but I kept coming back to this one. After watching and listening I decided to grab my boyfriends acoustic guitar. I've only been playing for 3 days and I was so excited when I heard myself playing AND it actually sounded like the song. I'm still on the first part but that's ok. My poor fingers can only handle so much lol. I just wanted to say thank you for being such an amazing teacher and explaining things in a way that someone with no prior experience can tap their inner rockstar
