for anyone struggling with the bar chords you can play it much easier by barring just half of the strings on the GBe side of the neck instead of all six strings and it still sounds great. Just focus on the lower four strings, though it doesn't matter too much if you strike the low E or A string on accident, just have fun and find what sounds good to you! There's no rules in playing guitar play it however you want!
yeah thanks, Ive played accoustic only for over 10 years but have a lot of pain anytime i play bar chords so i cant believe i never thought of that, i just only played chords at the head of the guitar for years. crazy. good tip.
Loved what you said about no rules playing guitar, i have a pretty crappy guitar and i discovered that if you hit the bass strings really fucking hard they distort like crazy and It kinda sounds like an "acoustic overdrive" and its pretty cool
Marty. I’ve picked up playing like about a year ago when going through divorce. These vids helped me out so much and it’s free. I even bought that Taylor you play. Wish I could pay you. I’ve come a ways in a year but long way to go.
All I'm gonna say is if it sounds weird when you try and play, just keep doing it anyway. The muscles in your fingers will build up and it'll start to sound good eventually.
Trust me, it's just as hard for people who can play bar chords, the real challenge is playing through the entire song with all bar chords without your hand hurting like crazy.
YOU MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER TO LEARN gosh I have been looking forever on how to play this song with a good tutorial. Marty you did it again, made a fantastic video with an easy step by step set of directions. Keep coming with these awesome videos! ROCK ON DUDE

Fun fact about creep Thom liked this girl in college and always looked at her. He never had the guts to go up and talk to her. He once got drunk to try and make talking to her easier. Thom then started playing in raidiohead and that girl came to one of the shows. The song is about Thom and the girl because Thom said that he wished he was special and also he was a creep and a weirdo for always looking at her. And he calls the girl in the song an angel and says that she is so special So boom there is something for you.
Asides from being an excellent musician, Marty Schwartz is capable of what few others on youtube can do, which is to teach brilliantly. Much like most beginners, I found the process of learning daunting and scary at the start, but it was an absolute joy to sit through your lessons. Keep up the good work, man!

Breh so just got back into playing & writing & I just bought pretty much that same Taylor you’re using. I was in a rut & my house flooded about 6 months ago, I’m a former employee at the PRS factory in MD & I had some very special, sentimental guitars that I built from scratch destroyed in the flood. Crazy how just having this acoustic to pluck around with has made my days increasingly better. Thank you for providing me some of the best & most accessible, stripped down lessons I’ve seen on RUclips. I’m saving up to join your course but in the meantime I will mirror you with my Taylor as you help me re-discover my passion for making beautiful sounds. Love you Marty.
Thank you so much Marty! I've only been playing guitar for 2 weeks and everything I learned was through you. Once again thank you so much and I hope this channel grows a ton.
I wish you tube was around when I was learning guitar all those years ago - after watching a few of your videos I've learnt more than I ever did trying to learn from books - a huge thank you! keep up the good work!
Your the best brother. You get me excited to play and learn. I gave up years ago and finding your videos inspired me again and now I play many many songs. Thank you

I've only been playing for 2 months and I can almost do the bar chords half decent! Also Marty is my go to man for learning just about everything, thank you Marty
It’s not easy but you make it so easy - simple format to learn a song. Makes me feel it’s not hopeless to relearn guitar and enjoy it. Used to play classical as a teenager. How the hell did I do that?!? Foreign to me now.
A cool thing about this song is that if you play the barre chord version of G, you can shift each chord up or down the fret board to play it in a whatever key you feel like :)
Marty you are such a wholesome man. My friend Harry put me onto your videos and my journey of re-picking up my guitar playing has been incredible. Learned some nice finger picking and brilliant songs from you. Have a good day sir.
Great tutorial. It would be better if you could add some on-screen text to identify the chords. I'm a super beginner here, struggled a little on the differences. Still, it's a great video! Here's a thumbs up! (Y)
Hey Marty, I subscribed not just because you're a great teacher but because you asked so sweetly and sincerely. Gonna practice this a while, many thanks.
I love estcging your videos man genuinely alesys make what can be a stressful and frustrating process of learning into something fun and light hearted. You are the big Ross of guitsr
Tad Ghostal that's such a shit philosophy. Music is like conveying a message or giving a speech in public. if you're not going to even bother being deliberate, it's not going to just turn out great.. This video is a testimony to that, at least for me, I think this sounds like shit. Im also the kind of guy who cannot stand the typical guitarist moping around with his shitty, typical acoustic guitar, strumming away at any social event or opportunity, the same patterns for every damn song, changing the key distastefully low on a whim because he doesn't practice singing at home.. disgusting.. it's lazy and if you ask me, people like this are a pollution, playing for the wrong reasons. Yet, people who aren't that into music (red flags) are more than happy to pet and feed these dogs, which encourages more. It's like a shitty music apocalypse Jesus help us all
Anyone here due to Life is Strange? I thought MArty was rediculously quick in uploading a tutorial when I looked up "Alex Chen guitar lesson" but this is 5 years old :-P
Marty, I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while, and you have helped me so much when it comes to my skills developing. You have been a huge part of my teen years thus far and there are no words to express how much I appreciate you.

Hannah Witt just keep at it, I was the same way now I can get all the strings to ring out easy but just having difficulty transitioning
Same here. I can't play bar chords dues to overuse/carpal tunnel syndrome. Perhaps I should use lighter string gages.
me too
thanks for this very nicely done video! super well explained and just in 7min!! learned it super quickly, I'm following you to learn more songs :)
Hey Marty, I subscribed not just because you're a great teacher but because you asked so sweetly and sincerely. Gonna practice this a while, many thanks.
You're so my new best friend! I can't wait to get home from work so my bud can teach me how to play my favorite songs...I thank you for this

Love that you did this classic. Thank you Professor Marty 🙏
Subbed. Because you asked so nicely. Good luck to you, sir.
please mention strumming patterns as well
FunTom I think am not sure but it is 'down down up up down and up' it is for all of them
Choose any :
DD UUD DUDU
or
DD UDUD DUDU
Or you can play the song correctly and not be painfully annoying
Play it now it feels, comrade.
It's like a shitty music apocalypse Jesus help us all
Thank you Marty for making these videos. Really appreciate it.
I think this is the best guitar teacher on RUclips, thanks for your wonderful work!
Anyone here due to Life is Strange? I thought MArty was rediculously quick in uploading a tutorial when I looked up "Alex Chen guitar lesson" but this is 5 years old :-P
Brother! How long have you been teaching!!?? I feel like I’ve been watching you since a teenager ! You pretty much taught me how to play guitar

Thanks again Marty another great lesson I need to learn for my band. Much appreciated.
