Weckl... He's one of the drummers who will be remembered forever ... he's just perfect, you can not do and feel what he experiences and creates from his enormous talents ... he just created a revolution in our perception of a drummer who is also a musician ... a genius
How do you get more creative, musical, precise, and fluid, than this? I never see him play a solo without causing me to laugh out loud from the sheer joy of watching this dude effortlessly display his genius. This guy makes my life better.
And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why Dave Weckl is considered one of the best. I saw him with Chick Corea what seems a billion years ago now. He was amazing then, and he has continued to go further and further. He is so bloody relaxed and fluid that he makes his technique and speed all look so easy. And talk about creative, melodic drum soloing. Wow.
Loose as a goose but right on! His beat is widening and getting more soul each time I hear him. Part of it is his sound, but he is loose now! GREAT !!!!
If you needed one guy to drum for your life, DW would be a pretty safe pick. I've yet to see him disappoint. Can't say the same about many of his peers.
I think everything in life climbes to a point, gets there at their peak and then begins a graceful decent. Dave is at that decending point now. He is still awesome and will be, even when he reaches the end! Great man, great player and I'm sure a lot of people wish they get to any level of his.
I went to Hackett in Portland and there was the same crap. I think 90% of the howlers are drunk. It's like STFU you trying to let us know its good or something

Dean Pana Decline? Hardly...he keeps getting more musical and technically proficient each and every year I've known him...
It's 2023 . If anything You are in a decline. He ,is a MUSICIAN , that is still very impressive.
Perhaps he needs to play with players at his own level. I prefer to watch him solo!
