I grew up in Jasper, FL. For halloween, they used to make to Old Jail a hunted house. If you could make it all the way through there was a huge cauldron full of candy you could dig into. It's crazy to see how abandoned the area looks now. *As A kid I thought the suwannee river was sweet tea.. lol
Amazing how many of these run down towns exist! So many people have left for the city and jobs…. Shame few come back as these towns are still beautiful if fixed up and loved again
Oh man. You came by my area again. You definitely have to let me know when you’re coming through the Gainesville area again. I’ll treat ya to lunch and I have some places to tell you about for possible future exploration videos. Safe travels, friend.
@norinesimmons9174 Because there is nothing there. No job opportunities, no nightlife or entertainment. For young people desiring to grow in life, unfortunately, Hamilton County is a dead end.
I have to say I love your background music! I love that I can still hear you talking while it plays, it's a really nice effect! Jus' sayin'! This was a great video, I used to live in White Springs, which is not too far from Lake City. Loved it there and did lots of exploring when I lived there!
I did not know Tallahassee was as hilly either until I went to FSU there in 1971. I did not have my license yet and my boyfriend (now my husband for 50 years) taught me to drive his stick-shift and I kept sliding back down the hills! I finally got the hang of it. Love your Florida Roadside Attractions videos!
Hi Jay. I lived in Live Oak from 1953 to 1958 or so. Spent much time hunting and camping in Suwannee Springs, Ellaville etc. Was able to go into the remains of the Drew Mansion before it burned. Seem to recall that it had a cellar that may still be visible. My brother and his atty. friend from Jasper toyed with putting a restaurant on the S Spgs bridge but being on the Suwannee River it wasn't doable. Suwannee Springs was a very popular resort in the late 1800's. You may want to do a vid in the White Spgs area. Tks for the memories!
Love these episodes roadside attractions & abandon places. I miss Florida are used to go around Georgia and Florida all the time looking for abandoned places when I was younger watching these bring back lots of memories. Thank you, Jay.🔥🔥
@TampaJay As Cheryl said above, I love the electric guitar background music. Sounds like a Gibson. It is perfect! I was hoping to see it listed in the credits. We also live on Old Tampa Bay just 300' from the water. So enjoy these exploration videos. Keep up the good work. 😉
Hey Jay!! Great video!!! You were really close to the Drew Manson foundation... but when I looked at google maps? I also saw a "Hidden Cemetery" near by... Oh the Jasper abandoned buildings were giving me a Sawyer family vibe!!!!
Geez Tampa Jay! You sure do make me nervous with those abandoned places. Especially the ones all grown up. Snakes, Snakes, and who knows what else. 🐍🐍🐊 Please be careful, my friend! ❤️🙏❤️
Morning Jay! Looking forward to this one 🙌 Omg that mannequin in the jail freaked me out haha 🤣 this place is amazing. Definitely on my list of old Florida places to visit. Wonderful video so far man!
@@TampaJay of course you're welcome! Haha I would have for sure almost crap myself if that happened to me. Still watching my friend! Enjoying this adventure my friend, looking forward to what's ahead 🙌
I really enjoy seeing placed places like this especially the ghost town and haunted civil war hospital there in Jasper i think i have seen the hospital on several paranormal shows on RUclips before and it is really interesting to hear about thanks.🇺🇲🛣️🇺🇲
Amazing series Jay...never gets old seeing all the unique and interesting places around the state...thanks again for all your hard work bringing us these awesome adventures.😎🇺🇲👍🚘😇🌞
Oh, wow! We live in Jasper! Wish we had seen you out and about in our hometown. I definitely would have pulled over and gotten a selfie with ya! My husband, 2 girls and I love your channel! 🤗 P.S. - They do some haunted stuff in the old jail around Halloween time. Hope you can check it out, sometime! Take care and we look forward to your Much Ahead.
Hey there, that’s so awesome. I appreciate you. Please tell the hubby I said hello. Hate that I missed y’all, so cool. They do a Halloween thing there. That would be so cool to see.! Much ahead my friend
My husband was born and raised in Live Oak, FL (1950) and he, his parents and I went to the Hillman Bridge and, of course, Suwannee Springs State Park back in about 1977. You could drive right up to the bridge and walk across. My husband's Dad was born and raised in Wellborn which was filled with neat old houses. Sadly, before I got to see the really nice two story house with several fireplaces in it, the house my father in law was raised in burned down because of faulty electrical wiring which was done during a restoration of the old house. That house was built in the 1800's and, since I love old things, old places, and history, I never got to see it. It burned down in 1978. It was the McKeithen house.
When Jay says " hello" and gets answered😂😂😂😂 That maniquin would have totally freaked me out at first😂. We totally and thoroughly enjoy all your adventures Jay! If u ever come to Oregon look us up. We will take u around. Thanks for the fun!🖤🐈⬛
I've been watching your videos for a short while. And I've noticed every so often as I read the comments that you comment on each other's videos. That is Beyond Sweet ! ✨️✌️
Wow!! That was way cool!!! The adventures on the backroads of Florida with Tampa Jay!! I think you met a ghost my friend. 👻👀I got the heebeejeebees when the meter spiked! Yikes! This is one for the books! Loved seeing the wildlife and old architecture, definitely interesting to see the old homes. Thanks for sharing!!
I missed you again Jay! Would like to meet you when you get back in the Tallahassee area. We use to race go karts west of Jasper. As far as that governor's mansion you need to check out Florida Trailblazer video. The foundation is still standing.
I hope you keep boots, gloves, a first aid kit and water with you in the vehicle, and wipes too! I wonder about some of the furniture in these old places! Old wood is lovely!
I was a little kid visiting my aunt's home. Richmond Va. There was a blood stain in the living room. It was once a civil war hospital. I played dolls with the girl in the white nightgown. Just kidding about that last part😮 Super cool memories as a kid. My brother and I collected bullets in the backyard. The house was torn down years later.
The iron stars that you mentioned are steel reinforcements rods. That red brick wall has little strength by design. I love these places that seem like time capsules of Florida past.
I always like cruising around seeing things like this TJ. And with your help, I don't have to start the car. HA! Thanks for another great video. That dummy hanging up would freak me out too. Lol
That watertank you saw in Madison is called a stand pipe very old and very rare l think their only two in the state of Florida and you saw one great video and many thanks 😂😂
Great video! Like all your videos. I will say when doing abandoned places, here in Florida or anywhere, you should always have a friend with you. I can only say for Florida, there can be some sketchy people in some of those places.
I wish I would have known you were here…I am 4th generation from this county, and my family has a cabin that was originally built in the mid-1800’s, and was restored into a hunting cabin, and an old sugar cane mill…I could have shown, and told you so many stories…..
The Florida Capitol building is 22 stories high . The top floor is an observation floor where you can view the area in every direction. On a clear day you can see the coast.
Hi Tampa Jay I always love ❤️ watching your videos can't wait to watch your next video from Michelle over here in Nottingham in England ♥️ never stop doing your videos Jay it wouldn't be the same without your videos 💗 😊 😀 😉 😅❤❤❤❤
Holy Moly!!! That arm inside that door really weird!! That was amazing when the meter went off when you asked them not to go with you. Maybe they liked your speaking politely to them. Actually would be a good idea for you to have snake boots when you are in that growth. Never can be too careful. Thank you Tampa Jay.
The Quiet Place bridge…wow I thought the same thing immediately seeing it! By the way seen the new one Quiet Place Day One and it was good but still like the original the best…Joseph Quinn did a great job in the new one too!
Hello Tampa J !!! I live over in Brevard County, I’ve been following you now for a while, Thanks for posting all the super cool videos of our state! I see you exploring all the vacant pieces of land, perhaps you could get a drone to get aerial views of these places.
you couldn't find the mansion..but you were in right spot. decades worth of sediment have covered the true location. that other Mansion that served as a hospital..now that was intetesting.your Deep divers into old Florida have really got my interests up for more in the much a head.
They should remake Jeepers Creepers and film it right in JASPER, you have all the abandoned buildings and vegetation so you don’t need to build a soundstage in a Hollywood backlot
I believe I’ve driven by that big red structure a few years ago. Florida has many buildings that are hidden in plain sight, you just have to be on the correct road.
Amazing to see just how many of these sort of towns exist all over the US….Loss of Jobs 8 guess So many people have left small towns go the city and not come back
Hey brother that’s my old stomping grounds that’s awesome your coming up this way. Fun fact chef art smith is from jasper. What are you doing in tally I live here I can show you around some places.
Tampa Jay there was another Civil War battle fought south of Tallahassee. The Battle of Natural Bridge just outside Woodville Fl. Because the Confederates won Tallahassee was the only Capital that didn't fall to the Union

Proud of you babe !
I graduated highschool in jasper back in 84. Sad to see the old town dying. The red barn building used to be a window factory. Thanks for sharing t.j.
I graduated HCHS in 03 😀
I don't understand why people don't want to live here anymore?
@norinesimmons9174 Because there is nothing there. No job opportunities, no nightlife or entertainment. For young people desiring to grow in life, unfortunately, Hamilton County is a dead end.

Jasper is my hometown. The brick building across the street from the old jail was used to store corn.
Love your town thank you for watching and of the update. Neat they stored corn there
No problem. Thank you for the video!
@TampaJay I did a little digging over the weekend and found out the building was originally a cotton gin, then later used for storage.
Love your videos! I’m from Central Florida currently living on the West Coast.

When you got out of the mansion, in the driveway when you were saying you were a Yankee the birds stop chripping. So weird!😱
You could try to find the mansion ruins again in winter when the vegetation dies down. It might make it a bit easier to spot the remains.
Oh woah 😮❗
You're right, I was going to say it too, that Mansion reminds me of the haunted Mansion at Disneyland.
Good video keep it up ❤

👋Hi, Jay!! Internet says the Suwannee River is the most polluted river in Florida. That explains the strange copper color.
The Brooksville Paranormal Investigation Team and I have investigated this jail over night before
Oooh, if the walls could talk‼️
I am sure that was not the only spray can left behind I bet all the others went into the river.
True and sad you’re probably right
You need to check yourself for ticks after wandering through the woods! There’s a tick that causes a kind of gout that can cripple you!!!
Thank you I actually had a tick on me. Got it off quickly. Appreciate the heads up and thanks for watching.
That house that was big after the barn where you heard the water dripping actually wasn't that bad inside considering all the overgrowth outside.
Amazing to see just how many of these sort of towns exist all over the US….Loss of Jobs 8 guess So many people have left small towns go the city and not come back
