There was a garage to the right of the building as you enter. I saw it as a child in the early 1960's. The house had been patched up (exterior) pretty well but the garage was full of poorly patched bullet holes. For many years there was a bamboo hedge blocking the view from the road. Do you know if the bamboo hedge was there during the gunfight or was it planted later to keep curious people from viewing the house?

It took me 13 years and several attempts to try to get inside of this house, in my former hometown of Ocklawaha. Yesterday, was the day it finally went down! Thanks for joining me for this long awaited tour! I didn’t feel the need to edit down the footage as much as I normally do, because this video is very important to me. They also had a home in Minnesota. We owned a bar that had a tunnel during the bootleg days. Story was the Barkers and John Dillinger used those tunnels to get away also. The gas station down the street was a hang out for Al Kapone, Dillinger etc. Th3 tunnels went down to the bluffs toward the Mississippi.

Not the same bead. check out the slats in the head frame. There are 7 in the current frame and only 4 in the old photo. Also the guide stated that there was originally only a single bed in that room. What is amazing is that the bullet ridden chair was kept by the new occupants and survived all these years. Great Job !!!

I'm just learning today, March 24, 2024 ! I'm a Florida native - born in Orlando 1975, moved to Tampa suburbs 1984 for my dad to start a construction materials and supply company. Tampa was booming for big buildings and warehouses, which were his specialty. We still spent a lot of weekends in Orlando as that is where all the extended family was. I started showing horses and went to a trainer in Ocala every weekend. Beautiful pastures still today. At some point, my aunt bought herself some land in WEIRSDALE. Now I'm wondering what connections I may have through my cousin at the Lady Lake preservation...that could get me an "in" to Ma's. 😉 Why we've never had a party at Gator Joe's....the threat is gone! Maybe for my 50th next year. Tampa Jay, I appreciate you sharing your adventures. I dig the hat....as long as NHL postseason is complete. ⚡💙⚡

It's not that often one finds historical places with this much detail still intact. Although most of the furniture and decor at the Lizzie Borden house wasn't original to when the Bordens lived there. I knew I felt a lil connection between You n Chris!
You guys remind me of my son I took him from NYC(queens) to Ocala 2015 promised a business had some shady relatives in Ocala and was roped in!!! Lol what a mess?! Ocala is a strange place for people from the north!
My son played with the "Misfits" and is a bassist Ocala isn't the place for that! Glad to see u made it out the other side just another experience in life !! Much luck to you both ❤️

My first video of watching on your channel. This was great. You didn't miss a beat. I like how you held up the original photo to today. Awesome!
The house is very cute. An old house indeed but looked freshly painted with beautiful colors.
History stories are always nice to know. What the Barker's did was bad however they did get their come up ins. Lol Evil never wins.
Thanks for the tour. I guess that means we all owe you $20. Lol.

You owe me nothing lol thank you so much for living vicariously through this video. Very neat you clicked on this one first. Meant a lot to me to get out there and finally document this unique awesome history. Thank you Melinda appreciate your comment and you watching so much! Much ahead, my friend.

I remember watching the Arther C Clarke’s documentary on the Ma Barker house. The elderly woman who owned it spoke about the hauntings in the summer home.
