What is the best setting on the oiler on a timberwolf cs590 ? I use my cs590 only 4 times and I never adjusted the oiler wen I took it out of the box .I already hat to change the bar and Cain because I used fram chin oil and I just found out it was to thin of a oil
In the early 60s we had a pulpwood business in Sw Louisiana. I was using my saw to clear briars to get to a pine. As I swept the brush sparks flew. I had hit a 1926 Fordson tractor that was only sticking up about a foot. Another time I hit a cannon ball that was imbeded in a sweet gum tree. Needless to say I needed new chains. We used pulpwood bows on our saws.OSHA killed those.
Whenever I hear of a saw being run on straight gas, I have a memory of the time back in the late 70s, when my Stihl 041 seized up after having run on straight gas. While it was still warm, I filled the cylinder full of oil and let it sit until it completely cooled. Then we slowly pulled the started a couple of times and drained out all of the oil. After emptying out all the straight gas we added a slightly rich mixture and after quite a few pulls it started and continues to this day to start and cut as well as some of my newer saws. The only down side to this saw is a saw that was once very easy to start and handle forty five years ago, really taxes these seventy four year old arms and back.
Arkansas should be proud of you for your informative mechanic videos and place your name in the Arkansas mechanic hall of fame, if they have one! Good Job!
really enjoy watching your tutorals on small engines im a new Zealander an i work in the tree felling an we use a good oil made Aegis oils they make very good 2stroke oils an chain bar oils an i really enjoy watching your channel an thought i would say hi from your fan from new Zealand
Forty years ago I taught small engine repair at the North Little Rock VA. Your channel brings good memories and the reminder that anyone who fixes chainsaws and string trimmers deserves what ever they charge! Now subscribed and alerted. Happy Birthday.
Wow! I was watching this one again one year later. You had just hit 100K subscribers, WOO HOO! But Today, 305K!!! Sooo happy to see how your channel has grown Bree. You are a big help to so many, (including me), and You always give the best advice. Thanks again for all you do Bree, God Bless
BREE , your a good Mechanic. Good knowledge. !! I am oler man., been at this profession for many years. Enjoy your podcast. Ps...... Kudos to your Husband. Nice looking young lady. No rudeness intended. Enjoy.
Just such a joy following you - your presence, skills and way of presenting are fantastic - and as you radiate honesty, I can’t help but enjoying your vlogs. Respect!
I find this chick very impressive. Not only can she repair a mess like this but she can do it without profanity!! When I repair a mess like this I create a completely new language!!
CONGRADULATIONS!!! on hitting the big 100K! I've hit nails, fences, rocks, dirt, more odd junk than I can remember. BEWARE forks of big wood people! But I have NEVER completely ripped a whole tooth off! And then to continue to use the saw? I can just picture THAT conversation, oh well. I thought you were going to have to replace the crank when you started.Great job my lady. Always learn something with you. Be careful and God Bless.
Hi Bre , Happy Birthday tomorrow ! Also , please wear eye protection when messing with E rings or any type of spring clip . You can't replace your eyes sweetheart ! Enjoy your videos very much . Kelly from Atlanta , Ga .
I watched one of your earlier videos about trimmer line being brittle and breaking. Low and behold I had that problem. Put the pack in a bucket of water for a couple hours. No more breaking. It works. Have a great birthday. Thanks for your help and your videos
It's truly a marvel every time you discover that engineers designed something with maintenance in mind. Definitely give the guy who did this props for designing it to have a very long tube in the oil tank.
Bree, have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂🎁🎈🎉🪵! Hitting nails, fence and junk in trees does a number on chainsaws. Good to see you are able to repair and share the whole thing.
Balls to the wall 😆 love that quote .. some people should take some kind of instruction period before using machines . But every one knows everything?????
I just always taught clean machine is a good operator, I think I would have cleaned all that ground up metal out first before replacing all that stuff Love your shows the best Happy Happy Birthday
Love your site i find it very helpful. A lot of stuff is similar to what is my problem. I learn something every time I see your show. Didn't know about the gas deal at the gas pumps and now I do. Thanks
When I worked on these regularly , I pulled the spark plug the pushed starter rope into the plug hole enough to let the piston push up against the rope so I could tighten th clutch.
It always amazed me how little mechanical knowledge most tree trimmers have regarding their equipment. Some years ago our power company was in the area doing cutbacks. When they were at my place 1 of their saws wouldn't start. When I heard him trying to start it with no results, I asked him to come to the shop with it. I gave him another of mine to use while I fixed his. Now everytime they're in this area & have saw trouble they'll drop 'em off & sometimes take 1 of mine to finish their job.
Hi from Australia, more specifically Tasmania. Loving your work, I enjoy working with my hands & have tinkered with different small engine appliances. You have shown me what to expect when digging into problems, having a little confidence makes a world of difference. I have thought you could use 2 or 3 battery powered drill drivers yoou can fit all the bits you expect to be using, changing sizes/types quickly & with a little less effort & extracting & installing more quickly. Perhaps I'm getting lazy, but I'd be considering making the investment. Please keep the projects coming. Blessings, Gavin.
Happy Birthday Chickanic! Your really a damn good instructor. Isn't it something the way birthdays seem to come so much faster as we age. Be safe in all you do.
Happy Birthday 🎂 I subscribed to your channel recently. I am a mechanic on 2 cycle , 4 cycle outdoor power equipment as well. And I wanna to say that your videos are informative, fun to watch , and you give great tips and do a proficient service there in Arkansas . 😎✌️
This makes me feel like I've been insanely lucky. Doing a lot of chainsaw work on a farm means lots of fence posts and "fence trees". I can't even begin to count how many nails, fence staples, and sections of barbed wire I've cut through, not to mention the time I went clear across a 1/4" x 2" piece of strapping. The strap totaled the chain, but at most the others have needed a bit of sharpening to be right back to work. Most of the time I haven't even noticed until I finish a cut and see the bright spot in cut face. Amazed to see that much damage from just hitting a nail.
I love to watch your videos your very good at servicing everything I have learned a lot thanks I just wish I lived closer to your shop cause you would be my dealer ,
Great video. Love how much conversation is happening that is definitely not directed at the audience ^_^. I've never met a decent mechanic that doesn't talk to their tools, parts, fingers, and other inanimate objects, I approve.
Great video, procedures, commentary. I am Shocked! Shocked! at the number of customers that dump their chainsaws onto your desk without making any attempt to at least blow them clean. I wouldn't drop off my clothes to the tailor without running them through the laundry first. I guess this is the way that they.......
My favorite tool is a pick for jobs like this. One I have big sausages for fingers, two when something runs together let's that you tend to have shrapnel with sharp stuff all through it.
Happy Birthday! I'm using your vids for training. I haven't needed any small engine equipt for a few years, but am heading back into soon. They're all VERY enjoyable! Thanks!
Though I enjoy your channel a great deal, As you would likely agree. You very basically just perform basic mechanical common-sense repairs. Nothing wrong with that at all. It's a good honest way to make a living and it is very helpful to people. That being said, there is one thing that I just have to learn from you. How the heck do you keep your hands so darned clean? impossible! this is black magic!
I looked at that borescope, $67.99 is a great price. Not long ago it was 79.99. Also make sure to check the updated vertical model to see if they have a 20% coupon off the normal $89.99.
When you atart your saw let it run an xut wide ipen or jt sull the teeth unless your run into a wire fence but im from Arkansas we do this with the Work Force labor!! But you need to turn your bag upside down an change youemr small sprockrmet every 2 bars an every 2 chains change a bar and wide open i worked fir Tennesaee Valley A Authorities but i cleaned my carsb an got ne fuel lines for tbhe 235 Xtorq! But you do a really good job mam!
Happy Birthday tomorrow you'll be 20 what lol hope you have a fantastic day came across your channel and I'm on love with what you do take care and keep up your awesome work
This reminds me of my first Stihl. I have a MS170. I had the stock 16-inch bar and a 12-inch carving bar. I switched from the latter to the former to cut down some trees and lost the needle bearing cage. I destroyed my bar, oiler, clutch, and sprocket from overheating. I ended up buying a MS180C until I had the money to fix the other saw as I needed a working saw to cut firewood for heating. Now, I always check to make sure that I have all the parts in place and in working order. I think it was a $100 repair on a $170 saw.
The MS170's are nice little saws, great for small trees and limbing. I own an MS170, first day of owning it I bought the felling spikes from the dealer with screws and installed that. Then I bought a side chain tensioner of Stihl manufacture on eBay for half of what the shop was selling it for. To this day, those plastic crankcase housing spikes have never been touched by wood.
You must put the E clip on the crank, fully in its slot and make sure you did not damage it putting it on. I use a pair of kitchen pliers to snap it into its slot on the end of the crank. I lost an E clip on my ms 241 a few weeks ago and stopped using it as soon as it started acting screwy. I did not damage anything but I had to replace the E clip and sprocket washer the next day at my local Stihl dealer. The needle bearing had come off the crank but was inside the sprocket cover. My rule is - anytime a saw acts differently, cut it off and check it out. This is why I always take several saws on cutting jobs. If one craps out, I crank up another one. I just love to get saws stuck and often need another saw to cut them free.

I'm trying to learn, but it's like mfgrs don't want us to learn and maintain things.
Happy birthday and blessings to u Chicanix 💐
That was pretty simple to do! Thanks!
