  • Hi everyone. We have a few family friendly SUV style electric cars / EV's in the warehouse plus a couple of popular ICE cars to compare load space. I run through a very quick pro's and cons of each, what to expect for real-world range and how many Ikea packing boxes each one can hold.
    Included in the line up;
Audi Etron 50 or 55 incl sportback
    Jaguar iPace
Tesla Model Y Standard / Long Range
    MG ZS
Hyundai Ioniq 5 - this is the Namsan Edition. I had a p45 myself before
Kia E-Niro (sorry no EV6 available today but we have tested that before)
Tesla Model X 6 seater (5 and 7 seaters also available but it's the 6 seaters where the seats do not fold - is that an issue?)
Sorry no Ford Mustang, VW ID.4 or ID.5 or other cars you can think of but this is what we had on the day and maybe we've tested one of those before in another video.
As we also have a Mercedes GLC and a BMW X5 in the showroom we can show you how they compare too incase you have one of those now and thinking of going electric.
    Thanks for watching

For the sake of those of us with kids, could we have a box test with the rear seats in place? Ok to slide the back seats forward on cars that can - e.g. Ioniq 5. Apart from that lack, a helpful and informative comparison, thank you. It's interesting to see the driving reviews, but this sort of practical comparison is also vital.

A very helpful video for new buyers. I have a Volvo XC40 recharge twin (and Tesla Model 3 LR with acceleration boost) which is very well equipped, but noticeably a smaller vehicle. I really wanted a Model Y, but my wife wanted a narrower car living in the countryside with narrow roads. Ironically she finds the Model 3 much easier to drive, shame we didn't get the Y.

It is funny to notice the comment: Tesla Model X has so much room you don't need all of it. In the UK that might be true. In the USA it is considered a jellybean shaped coupefied car with compromised space management, inability to use a luggage rack on the roof due to gullwing doors in the rear.
The full sized 3 rows SUV are preferred instead. So far only Kia EV9 and Rivian R1S can provide a better space inside but not the efficiency of Model X. The upcoming Lucid Gravity will beat all of them in both efficiency and space inside.

What about towing for caravans, horse boxes, and car trailers all things that are not a problem for an x5, Range Rover sport, Kia sorento etc. 500 mile range, towing 350 to 400 mile range. Easy to refuel with trailers attached. What’s the ground clearance and torque when towing on to campsites, and field car parks.
Also which cars have roof rails and can accommodate roof bars?

@@mamba101 There are 1.1 million caravans in the uk more than BEVs an industry that employs 130,000 people. BEVs will decimate this uk industry.
Some of us use are SUVs for practical purposes it’s not all about virtue signalling single occupancy company cars. If we are going to have to use BEVs then some of us will need to tow. Wales for me is 220 miles with a caravan , south of france 800 miles one overnight stop, then there’s my MX weekends all done easily with a diesel SUV. The future isn’t looking all that fun. Still we can always have weekends at home.

I think Bjorn Nyland calls the Audi the FAT Etron. Big, heavy, mediocre performance and lowish range. I think they're an OK BEV [way better than ICE of course], but I do wish these legacy makers would lose their fake grilles. Drives me nuts - its a symbol of the past. Lose it.
On the iPace, I still scratch my head as to why it didn't/doesn't sell that well. There's no reliability issue with this one - it's a BEV.
The MG ZS EV is great value, as is the Robert [de Niro]. When I sit in a Model X it's like being in a room with some comfortable chairs and entertainment. Fabulous car, and actually, I don't like SUVs as a rule.
