You did very well considering the traffic on the M6. I use to live 18 miles north of Inverness and had an Aunt that I used to visit in a village called Blisland 5 miles from Bodmin in Cornwall, use to drive overnight leave at 7pm arrive at 6am 685 miles the only way to miss the traffic on the M6 do it on a Saturday night and the road was pretty quiet! This was in 2000s in several different fossil cars, Alfas and Fiats.
Brilliant! Just did a trip from Finland to the UK and back in our Model 3 SR, but nowhere near that much driving in a day! And on your own too! Awesome.
It took me ~ 26 hrs to drive my 2014 MS 60 ~ 1100 miles a few weeks ago. That was with about 4hrs lost to traffic caused by a car fire AND the fact that I was nervous and stayed for LARGE buffers @ every charge stop. It was my 1st long distance trip with the car and my nerves were shot! So now that I'm more comfortable with it all I'm pretty sure I could knock about 5 hrs off of that time. No autopilot of course. This makes me want to upgrade tomorrow!!! Lol. Well done!

I've had my EV for 18 months now and I wouldn't dream of deliberately letting mine drop below 15 %. Accidentally when delayed or diverted, sure, it's my buffer that's what it's for. But to PLAN to go below 15%? I'd be bricking it. It doesn't help that my EV doesn't actually display the capacity numerically in percent or kWh. The best it does is a bar graph with a red bit like you'd have on an ICE.

Richard, Great video, great effort well done! That is a long time to be driving, your new records are well deserved. You even trained your bladder for the event, total dedication, 😉 🥂
Ace video !! I have done Lands End to John o Groats... Total time was a bit less than yours ( because we set off in the evening and for some strange reason we had no roadworks !) in a Model S 75 - 2017 - so we had more charging stops but we worked it so we hit the charging sweet spot at each charger and only charged enough to get to the next main charging point. The thing I remember most was that the charger at Lands End wasnt working and it was a nightmare getting charged to set off with 95% charge !! Oh yeah, you get a form stamped at the hotel at Lands End and at the pub at John O Groats with time stamps on it to "prove" your time....
When the Raven upgrade was adopted, it improved the efficiency of the Model S by around 10% - meaningful, yes, but given the charging speeds involved it’s only a few minutes added to each charging stop.

Many thanks, this was very interesting to watch. One thing I would like to ask please, how do you think you would have faired if you had done this journey in January instead of July? How would the need to use your lights, the heater and most probably the wipers have had on your range? I've never yet owned an EV and I have no particular beef with EVs at all, apart from the mild concern that they can potentially do that thermal runaway stuff. I do admit to not parking by them wherever possible. The only thing I have to compare your journey with would be to do it in our good old daily driver, which is a 1990 1.6 Turbo diesel VW Passat estate which we have had from new. It came as standard with a 25 gallon fuel tank. At a steady 60mph it still consistently returns 56mpg. This gives a maximum range of 1400 miles between fill ups. According to gloogle maps, I currently live 604 miles distant from JoG, and 301 miles from Lands End. So, a full tank of diesel would either do JoG, there and back (non-stop if required) and still leave me with 192 miles worth left in the tank. Or, TWO round trips to Lands End (again, all non-stop if required) and still have plenty Diesel left in the tank. Again, according to gloogle maps, I could also easily cover the 1145 mile journey from home to Lands End, and then up to JoG, all without stopping. Apart from a new clutch at 275k (£75), and two sets of CV joints(£24 each) it has just been routine maintenance, all done by myself. The engine and gearbox are still the originals and running fine. The odometer is now north of 400k. I most sincerely hope that one day an EV can be made to safely achieve what my faithful old VW Passat has been reliably doing since 1990. I do wonder where your EV will be in it's life cycle after 33 years on the road? And how it's 'whole life costs' would then stack up? Kind regards David.
Well done Richard, getting ready for my first holiday away with my model 3SR+ LFP this year with the kids to Cornwall (just 300 miles). Showing the ease of charging and how good the supercharger network works is great thank you.
Did a 1350km (840 miles) trip recently in my Model 3 (AWD) straight across France and Germany in just over 14h30m. No problem at all. (Basic) autopilot makes it a breeze and the charging stops (about 1.5 hrs in total) are just right to get rested and have a snack/toilet break. Anyone saying that you can't do long distance in a (proper) EV in a reasonable time needs to update their info.

I was on the road for a total of 20 hours and 4 minutes, crazy I know however the increased time was mainly due to holiday traffic and extremely busy chargers. Having a Tesla and the supercharging network really makes a difference!
