Seriously he just didn’t know how to place his shit. Like if he stayed quiet and avoided stepping on comedy he would’ve been great only interjecting when he occasionally had something funny to add. If he’d done that the show would maybe have survived despite Anthony’s racist rants.

"Weiner" is a fascinating documentary that lets you see the other side of all this mess. You get to see a guy publicly self-destruct in real time. Saddest thing is that he has no idea how toxic he is to himself and everyone else.
And while I can't stand anything Team Clinton... Huma actually comes across as a nice girl who always tried to help him, even after he fucked up, and just kept getting burned.
I can see where the documentary would be a killing blow - captures him on-camera saying “what if I try this [lie], what if I try this [other lie], oh wait I can’t say that because it contradicts [other previous lie], uhh I guess in hindsight trying to parse the language wasn’t the right strategy.” In some ways these are even worse than the original scandal.
It also killed Huma's chance of future political office -- she survived most of the Hillary-email-server inquest, but the residual bits of that, coupled with how-long-did-she-stay-complicit-with-this, were the coup de grace. There's a very telling bit, late in the 2016 footage, where Weiner tries to get her to appear in commercials, and on his campaign trail, but she refuses, saying "[Clinton PR-staffer Pedro] said it wouldn't be good for me." Weiner does a double-take, asks "Pedro said that?" Marriage was over in that moment.
There was talk of a lawsuit against the filmmakers, due to 'Huma's unauthorized inclusion,' but it seemed to fizzle, due to no actual written guarantee or limitation of footage.
Oh please. Just like with hillary, huma didn't stand by him or try to help him because of any sort of humanity, it was to salvage her future political career. If it was politically helpful to either of those she devils at the time, they would have cut and run right away.

The 2016 documentary 'Weiner' -- which apparently started as "I'll let you follow my mayoral campaign, but you have to edit + produce my ads, and, after I win, you can use all the footage for whatever you want," then went gonzo -- is a chilling expose on the backstage shenanigans.
Anthony (Weiner) is shown repeatedly spiraling, trying to rehearse what specific sentence he can say on-mic that won't contradict his previous lies, lashing + taunting his wife Huma for "not having better money-donor friends" and "not wanting to make public appearances with him, because someone might realize they were married" and, in one garish interlude, flirting with pretty young staffer, Barbara Morgan, before they both realize they're on camera, and Barbara goes silent, hand to her mouth. Weiner's first campaign manager (Danny Kedem) resigns after the new scandal, and did not give permission for his footage to be used; policy director Amit Bagga accuses Anthony on-camera of "lying to him" and "not being transparent."
Huma, though shown as the victim, doesn't come off cleanly either -- "her advisors" (apparently Clinton staffers) keep telling her what she should or shouldn't do or say in support of her troubled husband, she repeatedly makes a point of whining "I haven't followed your campaign, I don't watch your TV appearances, I can't answer what you stand for if someone asks." It's really a damaging reveal, Weiner's double- and triple-lies worst of all.
