You guy have inspired me, so on a recent holiday l spent hours walking along the beaches collecting the rubbish and fishing lines from the waters edge. Bless you.
I live near a beach, and I walk my dogs there every morning. We always come back home with a bag of garbage that has washed up. I wish there were more people like you, doing the right thing! Its worth noting that picking up ANY trash is good, because all rivers eventually lead to the sea, so even garbage on land has a good chance of tangling up an aquatic creature eventually, unless we pick it up and dispose of it properly! Everyone can contribute, even if y'all don't live near the ocean.
Oh dear sweet girl if ever there was a perception of a seal understanding- it was in her eyes as she followed your movements during her procedure. Even in biting the bolt cutters she didn’t bite in anger but in cooperation. What a good patient!! What a great “surgical team “. Well done OCN
I don't think she understood, she was probably terrified. If they took that net off at any time she'd be gone in an instant. My guess is it was submissiveness in the face of overpowering force.
Ellen Schneider. I couldn’t agree more! Every word in your comment rang true! She DID understand ! Sometimes we just don’t give animals enough credit. But she knew exactly what was going on! And with all our guys talking to her, and encouraging her! Her cooperation, and our AMAZING OCN team working together , made for a Wonderful outcome!!! ROCK ON OCN!! Rock on!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏💯💯💯💯💯🥰
One cannot imagine the pain the seal is going through, and the fear, not knowing what's gonna happen next ... and being so quiet under these circumstances, unbelievable. Thanks to the team!

I have wondered the same thing, are the seals getting to understand the situation. With the response of some of the seals I would say no. But after this rescue and another where the seal turns a sits beside Naude for a moment I think it could happen. I do hope though that one day these rescues will no longer be necessary. Until that day keep up the great work OCN.
Certainly the result is visible. Some RUclips uploaded by some gentlemen show how some sea animals like turtle, whale, sharks are coming near to humans seeking help from them. After sometimes these poor fellow will also understand that all humans are not alike.

Naude: "The hook is out, minimal damage, still not very fun, but at least she's HOOKLESS now."
I didn’t understand why the hook wasn’t cut. It was barbed on one end and the other was a large eye that was pulled through flesh to get out.
I think Naude didn't cut it because it was too far back; maybe he thought, if he cut it, the seal might have swallowed the barbed piece.
@@TheBooban They did say it was lodged in the jaw so maybe that was why?
@@TheBooban At 12:23 he explains the bolt cutter wouldn't cut it.
