I had adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder?) on my right shoulder for a little over two years. I can attest that it was no joke! I was in constant pain, unable to lift my arm, fix my hair, put in clothes, drive, even cut up steak was a pain! I had to do a guided MRI (arthroscopy?). I just did months and months of PT and two steeoid injections. Right shoulder is much better now but ROM is not 100% I'm 6 months from filing my claim theough the BDD process. Im grateful to have found your channel and sharing your knowledge and experience 😊

I am sorry to hear about your shoulder. I had adhesive capsulitis in both shoulders once and it was terrible. I am glad you are enjoying the videos and happy to try to assist if/when you are ready
Holy crap! I'm telling you wish I could go back in time to seek medical when I served in the military. My left shoulder injury that I had while seems to be affecting me now, but my right shoulder and elbow are in pain now.
Thank you for this topic this is your subscriber on the West Coast Los Angeles. This video was very helpful. Thank you the shoulder is one of the items that I had filed recently. The only thing is I wish I would’ve seen this video earlier but I think I’ll be OK we will find out, thank you
Just had mine for 3 different conditions . Back ankle and shoulders . He used goinometer for back then he didn’t for shoulders . He put 25 degree motion . Then for ankle he used it
I had totally left shoulder replacement 4 or 5 yrs ago with a 20% service connected while my right should was also not good, so I filed for it, and they came back with a deferred decision. What does that mean. Fast forward 2 or 3 years, and it's now popping ing and out crackling and painful. I don't want any more surgeries after they fused my neck and constant headaches. So I'm not sure what to do.
I’m sorry to hear this sir. As far as the claim being deferred is concerned you may want to discuss that with a legal professional like a VSO or an attorney
Should I bring medical literature for my specific condition (glenoid dysplasia) since it's incredibly likely that it affects both shoulders but I've only been seen in service for the right? I'm going through an MEB and have my head to toe next week.
I'm going through that now torn rotator cuff secondary to my left shoulder that was trashed 1 year before I got out. Service connected Lf shoulder and been denied 2 times on my right shoulder and I'm right handed, but now I have a MRI for proof, so I guess I'm in for a fight. I'm just getting tired of fighting for something I deserve. I had a c& p exam in August and she didn't take any measurements of my shoulders or my knees. Maybe they will believe me this time. Or they will say it just happened to discredit me. Because we all know that the VA will always take the side of the C&P examiner before the veterans.
Hey Leah, I have an pending neck and back case and I’ve also had my C&P Exam and is awaiting my decision, my question is I had shoulder surgery in September 2023 and is curious to know if I should file a supplemental claim now or just wait until after my pending case?!!!
Hi sir I am sorry to hear this. It is totally up to you. You may want to discuss strategy regarding the claims process with a legal professional for more guidance
My current situation is I was Marine Corps infantry. Got injured a lot and felt a lot of pain during my time but never went to medical because that was frowned upon and you don’t wanna be “That” guy in a victor unit. Needless to say, it’s been a struggle to get even 10%.
Hello Leah, I would like to thank you very much for your videos. I would like to ask if you have any knowledge on the use of Cipro causing Heart issues, depression, nerve issues, etc. I would like to hear what you have say. I have a long history of health issues that go back to me being prescribed Cipro for over a year while in the service. Thank again for all you do for us veterans.
Hey sir I am glad you are enjoying the videos. Medications like cipro have side effect profiles and are usually listed in the package inserts. I am sorry to hear you have been suffering from many of those conditions and I just would not want to speculate about it because there are just so many variables. Good luck to you sir and take care of yourself.
Hi, i have 20% r shoulder for full thickness repair which later retore. I also have a full thickness on L rotator due to USPS carrier (now ret). I applied for an increase for R and secondary for L and was denied. Seems like they should have approved for L secondary. What's your thoughts?
I am sorry to hear this sir. Every case is different so it is hard to say. Have you followed up with a legal professional? Also if you are interested in a nexus letter you can ask your treating doctor or you can reach out to us at info@prestigeveteranmctx.com
I had bane karte in both shoulders done during duty. Now i just had lebrum torn reattached in right dominant shoulder with bycep relocated. How do i go about this. Do i do a Secondary to right shoulder or what. Loss of motion pretty bad. Had a test done with a machine at a pt office. Just unclear what to do. Thanks
I went to the VHS twice for right shoulder pain on my right shoulder due to service connected left shoulder reconstructive surgery. I then lost balance riding my bike and got an AC separation. I'm claiming my right shoulder as a secondary due to overuse. Will the AC separation affect my rating if I get one negative or positive?
I just had shoulder surgery (3 weeks) for a 95% tear in the rotator cuff, torn labrum and acromioplasty. Have current 10% rating for same shoulder. Submitted for increase and have to perform a C&P. My ortho surgeon has me in a sling for 10 weeks with no use/movement other than gentle stretching with PT. I cannot lift my arm or use it right now and don't plan on letting the doctor manipulate my shoulder until I'm healed. Will they complete the C&P or defer? Can I get temporary 100% until I'm fully healed?
Hey sir that is hard to say. You may want to follow up with a legal professional like a VSO to get a better understanding of scheduling after these types of surgeries. I am also not sure on the temporary 100% but a good legal professional should be able to advise. Best of luck, take care of that shoulder and keep us posted!
So I had a severe torn rotator cuff and glenoid labrum repair surgery in september on my right shoulder which is my dominant side, and they discovered arthritis in my AC joint. I contacted my VSO rep and she filed my claim for me and its currently in stage 3 or evidence gathering. My question is, will the exam focus more on post surgery mobility of my shoulder and arm or will they focus on how bad it was pre surgery? I am currently in post surgery physical therapy and while they tell me i'm progressing, i haven't been cleared to return to work and i'm still super weak and within the last week was cleared to not wear my sling anymore and i can barely move my arm out enough to put deodorant on unassisted. The ROM test is where Im really concerned because number 1, its going to hurt and number 2 will that hurt me in the exam as far as what the reviewer takes into consideration? Awesome video!!
I hurt my shoulder during my last pt test have it all documented with incident report as well. I'm a software developer now. Even tho I don't do manual labor, trying to keep my hand on keyboard 6-7 hours a day is hard when my shoulder don't want to move inward. How do I explain that on paper lol
You mentioned LOD for guard and reserve but I literally had it checked off my illness was LOD by med board but the rater denied my claim stating it can't be discovered on duty. Even though I sent in paper that it was related to service and marked service connection😑
Thank you! You seem like someone who cares and I can work with with my secondary's. . I heard that even though the joint (Shoulder, ankle, knee) might have decent range of motion, because there is pain with the joint (secondary to service connected back), a 10% is warranted for it. True?
That is my understanding as well sir however you will want to clarify that with a legal professional like a VSO. If you would like more information on our service please reach out to us at info@prestigeveteranmctx.com
I'm 20% service connected for left shoulder. And my right shoulder has gotten worse. And wanted to file for bilateral shoulder pain etc.. I recently requested a MRI of that shoulder to see exactly what I'm dealing with. No response from doctor yet. It was treated with my left shoulder during the time I was going to physical therapy. So there is a diagnosis. Is this something to follow through with?
Hey sir I am sorry to hear this. As far as following up with your doctor is concerned we would not be able to advise on that as it is part of your healthcare plan.
@@scrapguy6816 Your last statement is that you were waiting on a response from your doctor. I would not want to advise you on how to navigate the communications with your doctor. I hope my suggestion will get to the secretary Mr. McDonough.
