- In today’s video I review the new Bauer SCT ( surface conditioning tool ) by Harbor Freight and put it to the test to see if it will remove rust and old paint, clean, and prep the surface and have it ready for the next process.

Thanks for the great review. I've seen several of them but you actually took the time to show the difference between the grit AND the speeds and how they work. Appreciate seeing the differences between the speeds and the grits.
You’re welcome and I appreciate you checking out the review!
Appreciate the time you put into your reviews...It’s real helpful King 👑
I do my best to help out Sprayway and I appreciate you checking out the videos and reviews 💯💪🏾
Best review I've seen on one of these, thanks UPK!
You’re welcome and I appreciate you checking out the review!
I bought this tool but still haven’t used it as it’s been rainy and windy. Finally glad I ran into a video that shows a rusty roof, mine looks a bit more rusted but should be fine based of this video
Let me know how it works out for you when you use it Steve!
Thanks for sharing this great demo with a great tool, you are always doing great jobs 👍
Thanks Lotfy I really appreciate you checking out the review!

You’re welcome and Happy Holidays to you as well!
@@UndergroundPaintKing Just wanted to thank you again, man. The Bauer SCT came in today and it’s a beast. Made my work so much easier than toggling between sanders and grinders.
@@bradh7601 you’re welcome! I’m glad I could help and I’m glad it worked out great for you 💯
Came across your channel from watching lake side auto repair

Thanks Timothy I appreciate you checking out the review and I hope you enjoy yours!
Looks like a great tool, thanks for the review, your videos definitely give me confidence to redo the body work and paint on my old Volkswagen. It would be cool to win it, but it’s a great buy at $130
Definitely a great buy and would be great for your project David…I appreciate you checking out the review!
Very handy tool got the job done thanks for the review👍🏿
Thanks Willie I appreciate you checking out the review!
Man UPK, great video! The raffle is a great idea. That tool- with the drums- is a great buy. I've been working on my project for a lil while now and wanted to strip a few panels down to bare metal. Chemical strippers are horrible now and some other sanders just seemed to be slow motion or uncontrollable. Thanks for the he review- is on my list!
I agree with you Jamal on the chemical strippers they just don’t work lol they use to but this will definitely work for you bro!
Looks like it works well ! Thanks 👍🏼
You’re welcome Mitchell I appreciate you checking out the video
Excellent review upk. That bauer stuff that h.f.t sells is pretty good we use the sawzulls they get a workout. Plus when they go bad the warranty at h.f.t is good. All for the raffle. Keep the reviews coming my friend
Thanks James and I know you guys put those tools to the test daily!…appreciate you checking out the review
Hey UPK, Thanks for the review. I would to use this on a couple of my projects.
Thanks for checking out the review Mike and stay tuned because I plan on doing a raffle for this tool so if interested you could possibly get it!
Im good wit a raffle! Keep the videos coming homie! Ur really doing alot of good 4 alot of ppl
Appreciate you checking out the review Bug and I’m doing my best to help my people out!
Kick ass brother will look into one for doing my 1953 Chevy Belair for door sedan
You’ll like it Jody and it’ll work well for you on your Belair…I appreciate you checking out the review!
Nice Demo Bruh! 🔥
Thanks Djuane I appreciate you checking it out!
Yeah I need it for this old box chevy that I'm going to try to paint myself. Going to be my first paint job.
Definitely will get the job done for you George
I also purchased one of these from Harbor Freight. I am also getting a Chevy Truck ready for paint and I have areas of heavy surface rust. The tool did an amazing job on the lighter rust but some areas it just can't seem to pull it off without putting some serious heat in the metal. Areas that still had paint on it was a breeze with the Black 40 Grit Drum. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing it. John
Thanks John I really appreciate you checking out the review!
Thanks John I really appreciate you checking out the review!
Keep the reviews coming UPK
I’ll definitely keep the reviews coming!
Looks good thanks for the review
You’re welcome Johnny I appreciate you checking out the review!
Thanks, I purchased one during the HF parking lot sale for $99.00.
That was a steal 💯💪🏾
Great Video great Tool. I myself already bought an eastwood SCT but i wouldnt hesitated to get one from H F. One thing i noticed is that you have a soft voice and couldn't here you to well. Thanks so much for the info.
Thanks Adam I appreciate you checking out the video!
Going get 1 now fam 4sho! Keep.droppi g that fire footage teach!
That’s good to hear Fam you’ll definitely like it and I’ll definitely keep dropping content for my people!
I am glad that you do these reviews of Harbor Freight tools. My tool cabinet and tools are HF. Pittsburgh brand is a lifetime guarantee. They used to make fun of me at the shop i worked at but if I broke a tool I could get a new one just like Mattco etc. They have great tools as well but could not afford the thousands. Keep up what ya do!!!
They have some nice tools at HF David and you can’t go wrong with a lifetime warranty so I’ll continue to get tools from there…I appreciate you checking out the review!
@@UndergroundPaintKing Yeah you will see more comments on the way lol I am binge watching you so if you have a video ya did from 1990 well ill be commenting and liking! :)
@@davidbretz6345 lol I appreciate that David and I’ll be replying back!
Upk , takes care of his people ! I was wondering if it was a good buy now I now . Thank you for the video. Let’s raffle it off .
Appreciate you Doug I definitely try to take care of my people and I’ll keep everyone posted on the raffle!
Great demo look like that works the hood was clean too big for motorcycle. Thanks for the info
Yeah it definitely works well and it may work on a motorcycle if on a stand and stable…appreciate you checking out the review!
Great tool!
Yes it is Bayou Biker…I appreciate you checking out my review!
I’m also down for the raffle. I had my eye on one of these but from Eastwood and it wasn’t cheap. Cool to see that HF offers a quality alternative
Definitely a great alternative Rusty Ryan I appreciate you checking out the review and I’ll be keeping everybody posted on the raffle!
That thing is sweet.... good demo my man
Definitely look into it bro…appreciate you Grant!
That was awesome! I'm good with a raffle. :) could definitely use it on my project. thk UPK!
Appreciate you checking out the review Andy!…I’ll keep you posted on the raffle
Looks like a good buy! That's for the vid UPK!
Definitely a good buy Cartia…appreciate you bro!
There is also a model by VEVOR that is a interesting beast, the way they undercut harbor freight was just using a beefy angle grinder head with a longer shaft and i hear good things about them.
Thanks for the info, I’ll have to look into it
I'l get it just for the 3 included drums, the tool is the bonus! My favorite in my shop, is the flapper 80grit drum, that leaves the surface in a almost ready to urethane 2K primeable surface. The 120 grit didn't do anything for my auto projects. Cars stripped in hours NOT days!
I agree Jason that the 3 drums are the best thing about the purchase and I don’t see much use of the 120 and 240 on my projects but that could change…appreciate you checking out the review!
I wanna know if it leaves lines or any warpage on panels u see thru paint..
@@joshloenzio8463 not with the 80 grit scotch brite flapper drum. Leaves a nice smooth conditioned finish, that is more or less, ready to put urethane primer on.
And great review
Thanks JusCoolDude I appreciate you!
Oh yeah I was waiting for this I got one a week ago and it kicks butt at a great price...same Damn tool as Eastwood's at a cheaper price with 3 drums once HFT gets the drums in stock they will be cheaper than Eastwood's which can interchange with the harbor freight tool.
I agree Moparnut62 once those drums are available that’ll make the Bauer SCT a better purchase in my opinion…I appreciate you checking out the review!
Just got a 67 f100 that runs and drive with the original motor and tranny, only issue is its pretty much covered in rust and where there is paint it is pretty dull, debating on the eastwood or Bauer rn, seems like the Bauer works better than most people give it credit for
I have both Eastwood and Bauer and both work great in my opinion so I take cost into consideration and in my opinion Bauer wins Dillan…I appreciate you checking out the video!
Yep could use that
It works great Dustin, I appreciate you checking out the video!
Didn't know that existed. Porter Cable has has a smaller version of that made for flaking paint removal on wood out for years.
Eastwood has this same tool and they came out with this version first and now Harbor Freight has a copy of it
Another great one UPK. Does it get the surface hot when using? A raffle would be awesome. This is why you are the peoples Champ. Thanks UPK
It definitely doesn’t heat up the surface which is good…appreciate you Frank for checking out the review and I have more content and info on the way!
I need it for sure. Two cars I have to strip.
This will definitely get the job done 67dodgepolara…I appreciate you checking out the video!
Just got mine on sale for $99 that thing is crazy good
Yeah it works great 💯
Good Demo👍🏾👍🏾 time for me to get one... A raffle would good
Thanks Tweet you’ll definitely like it bro…if enough people want to do the raffle it’ll definitely be a go💯
💯💯
Big daddy needs a new tool for sure
Definitely a good tool to have MetalHead68…appreciate you checking out the video
I think it's great it's something that I would use and I'm just getting in the paint and body work really I think Home Harbor Freight has made a great hit with this
I agree with you HF definitely came through with this tool Undray!
Great video. Was thinking of buying the Eastwood one but now may have to check out the Bauer STC. can you tell me if they weight the same and are they the same size?
I don’t remember the weight of the Eastwood but will look into it but from what I can tell they could be the same size…appreciate you Tony for checking out the review!
A raffle and or a giveaway would be good idea!
Thanks DIY Solar Energy for checking out the review and I’ll keep everyone posted on details of the raffle!
Nice review. Have a good weekend UPK :)
Thanks Jerry I appreciate you checking out the review…have a good weekend!
Yessir heat review I just dropped a review unboxing on it yesterday great minds think alike 💪🏾💯
How is it working out for you?
@@UndergroundPaintKing so far so good found additional drums on Amazon for like 27 bucks a drum for the 40 grit stripping ones
@@LSCHEVYRYDER254 that’s not bad…I’ve never had to change drums so I should be good until HF starts selling them
@@UndergroundPaintKing yea i guess only reason so extreme is because of all the paint layers on my car im trying to finish it up have in birthday suit by end of the month but estimating 3-4 drums and that should take care of it all
Hey King, I tapped a vacuum hose under it and collected all the dusts.
🤔 that’s a good idea, I’ll have to give that a try!
Thanks for the review. Raffle SCT for sure! How are you going to deal with the rust pits on the Monte Carlo roof? Thanks
I plan on cleaning out the rest of the filler out of the pits and probably will sand blast the pits…I appreciate you checking out the review!
@@UndergroundPaintKingDo you fill the pits with regular body filler or fiberglass filler? Thanks
@@Gomer8759 I personally would go with fiberglass to try and prevent moisture and rust forming again
Saw some other reviews that said this thing gets the surface too hot. I see below that you disagree. Looks like you had to hit some spots on that roof pretty hard, and no warping right? Sure seems like using a 7" grinder with a disc would build even more heat and be a lot harder to control. Nice video, thanks for the info!
No warping at all John…I don’t dig into the surface nor do I sit in one spot for a long period of time so just like any other striping tool I keep it moving …I appreciate you checking out the video and I’ll be doing more videos with the SCTs
Nice review. Would make stripping a hood fast and not warp it. Keep the videos coming. Raffle would be cool. Andy
Definitely good for stripping without having to worry about warping the metal…I appreciate you Tygger6069
Definitely Raffle this one..Yes!
The raffle is going Sharon and you have until April 15TH to get in if you’re interested…I appreciate you checking out the video!
Do i need to ad reducer and hardner to single stage paint?
Depends on what is recommended by the manufacturer Johnny
Great review, I have a rusty Yukon roof I need to strip. It was hard to hear you though... volume was low on your voice.
Thanks Bruce I’ll see what I can do to make the volume better I didn’t know that was a issue…appreciate you checking out the review!
Which grit do you recommend finishing too for an epoxy primer?
@@fluorescentmug8333 really depends on what I’m doing but I think 80 grit is good
Do the raffle, great review
Thanks MrManushe I appreciate you checking out the review!
Did that one 40 drum do the hold top
Yes just the one drum Joseph
I have the eastwood version it comes with one but I bought another separately and they are pricey
I have the same and I agree with you that they are pricey!
@@UndergroundPaintKing the bauer is hard to beat for the price
@@2koolforyou88 it’s definitely hard to beat at that price!
I would love a raffle!!
I already did the raffle on this tool but there will be more raffles in the future Michael! Appreciate you checking out the video
Which is better harbor freight or Eastwood. Harbor freight has 90 day warranty and Eastwood has 3 year, and it's price now is $179.00 Thxs I have learned a lot from you...
I think it depends on how much you plan on using the tool…from what I have seen the Eastwood is on sale for 179 but that isn’t the regular price plus the drums at Eastwood are double the price of HF so in my opinion I think HF is the better one and I believe you can purchase a extended warranty at HF so you’re not limited to the 90 days only
If that shaft is is steel the keyways can be locked into place with loctite
I’ll check it out…appreciate the info Chris!
I have one work great 👍
Yessir it’s does work great Dennis👌🏾
I've been waiting for a good review on that tool. I think it would work better than a DA on my wifes 69 beetle restoration. All the contours would be more of a pain with a DA.
This could definitely work as a one and done tool…appreciate you checking out the review
Yes Sir, drop it in a raffle I would appreciate it
Stay tuned for details bro and I appreciate you checking out the review!
Do the raffle, the people's champ!
Appreciate you Fisch!…stay tuned for details
Eastwood Contour SCT is the best one
They both seem to work well but at a price point the Bauer wins in my opinion!
@@UndergroundPaintKing Your right price wise. I just had mine 2 years to early lol
@@DARKCHILD1313 yeah I’ve had my Eastwood 2 or 3 years now too
The Eastwood is quite different and seems better built when compared side by side.I had to have both.
@@oscarhedden9524 I have both as well and have noticed some differences but I haven’t seen where the Eastwood is built better than the Bauer but that’s just my opinion
Take that 240 grit to a car with peeling clearcoat and let us know how good it gets it ready for primer. :)
If I come across a car with peeling clear I will definitely do a video…appreciate you checking out the review!
Doing my 71 grand prix
