    I made my own version of this recently. I'm a machinist by trade, so I used aircraft aluminum instead of wood. Mine was more toward function than beauty, however. This model is absolutely gorgeous, and the woodworker in me is jealous!!! Planing on incorporating your wonderful ideas of beauty into a Mark II version of mine. Wood will undoubtedly be slightly more weighty, but what is the world if we can't add our own beauty to it.
    Thank you for reminding me of that.

      @@woodarttg Absolutely. Though don't expect it any time soon. My current design took me a bit short of a year to design, re-design, and build. Have made a high-tech reminder to post a pic or two here when it's done though. By high-tech I mean I thumbtacked a post-it-note on my worktable. 😄

      @@TREETOPCHOPPA762 I see your mistake. I did not make my design based on Wood Art's design, or video. I made my own design, which took me a year, off and on, to finish. I actually finished mine in Aug '22. So I was not saying I took his design and then took a year to make mine. I was saying I made mine over a year, and THEN saw his.
      I was commenting on Wood Art's design and use of wood, and expressed a desire to incorporate many of his ideas into a re-design of my own. As an example: I used a lever action to reload mine, instead of the pump action Wood Art used. I intend to test that pump action design and see which works best for me and mine.

    Nice project and good use of simple tools. ;)
    Little tip for ya: When you glue wooden surfaces, cover the entire mating surface in glue. Any area you leave bare will react to moisture differently and since this will be going outside and be stored inside, you are going to get lots of moisture fluctuation. Furniture built improperly can and will tear itself apart, even when it spends it's life inside. If you want real durability switch to Titebond 3 after you prototype with CA. I love CA, but its got nothing on the strength of proper wood glue. Cheers!

      @BenKingEagles Год назад

      @@djdynieldaniel1395 He got thin CA along the joint lines, which is great as it will seep in and seal, but CA is a brittle glue with very little strength when it comes to lateral movement. And more moisture = more movement. As for the finish, aside from high grade marine spar varnish or similar, any finish can and often will fail somehow. When you use a wood glue and cover the entire surface you create a bond so solid that the wood will fail first the majority of the time, moisture-be-damned. :)

    • @BenKingEagles
      @BenKingEagles Год назад

      @@djdynieldaniel1395 So much of woodworking is trying to mitigate the potential failures. The glue, the joint surfaces, the finish... it all comes down to use-case and materials. I'm just offering advice on upgrading the product along those lines.

  • @jeffreywitty3088
    @jeffreywitty3088 Год назад +12

    Oh, this is well designed! Much of an improvement over the typical "single shot breech" versions. a small, jointed wood, lever arm (Winchester), incorporated in to pump slide, could VASTLY improve tension and reduce user fatigue (not assist, just removes slack motion). A "Rear Passthrough Chamber Slide" (aka a port on rear of breech) would allow you to manually load a single plumbata/bolt (an short arrow) for larger game
    /
    О, это хорошо разработано! Значительное улучшение по сравнению с типичными версиями с однозарядным затвором. небольшой шарнирный деревянный рычаг (винчестер), встроенный в золотник насоса, мог бы ЗНАЧИТЕЛЬНО улучшить натяжение и снизить утомляемость пользователя (не помогает, а просто устраняет слабину). «Задняя сквозная камера» (также известная как порт на задней части казенной части) позволит вам вручную загрузить одну плюмбата / болт (короткая стрела) для более крупной дичи.

    Great design, but if I may I can see that if you make a MK 2 version that either the stock or the body is elongated so the hilt of the stock can sit on your shoulder for those accuracy shots. Elongating the body would add more weight on the front end, You might also consider adding some lead into the elongated stock so that it counterbalances the front body with the fulcrum somewhere around where you place your front hand, this will give it much better balance - I've seen stocks that have a longer curved top section so that it partially sits on top of the shoulder for even more stability.
    Otherwise a GREAT zombie apocalypse design.
    My only slight criticism would be to use proper wood glue instead of CA considering the forces you are putting into this, CA glue has a low shear resistance and you REALLY don't want this to have a failure while fully cocked.

    Very beautiful workmanship
    In a survival scenario I'd opt for a rope-sling

    Beautifully done, but this slingshot is not for "survival". The first fall to the ground will turn it into garbage (.

    Your info says you can make anything out of wood. How about a 40" flat screen TV? *not just the case, all of it, LED's included out of wood. No copper wiring allowed. I have to admit, this was a good idea and where do I get the plans?

    • @woodarttg
      @woodarttg  Год назад

      a wooden TV. You have to get a copy from a real TV. To make the smallest details, it takes quite a bit of time.

    Why not just cut the shoulder stock big enough to be useful or cut an ergonomic pistol grip if your going to shoot it free hand, addressing the piece properly provides a steady foundation for consistent accuracy,,,the Gunny, USMCR

    That is a very nice design and craftsmanship. I do have to agree that it isn't a shotgun though, maybe a marble gun. I don't think English is his first language so maybe that's how it came out in translation. I do have to say that it's really sad that so many people have to get on here and bitch about his choice of words instead of just commenting about his work.

    Very good result and also powerful enough for defense. The one who is able to copy this, can call himself "wood artist" - but for me it would be too complicated to build.
