Sweet build. Wish I could do this. My state would probably charge me with manufacturing firearms though. New jermany sucks. Keep up with the awesome builds. Bravo
That was very impressive! You can see your dedication with the final product. Only one safety issue I hope you remember with the band saw...drop the guard down very close to your work project. It does several things other than not chopping your fingers off from the top side if an accident hits you from behind....seen that. Next, it was designed to control the blade wiggle for improved accuracy while cutting. Last, with both, safe feelings and closer accurate cuts, you'll see your skill level improve and do less "rasping"...get a small hand planner or a "pull knife" for the longer rasping spots. Good job!
Good job, myself I would have saved some rasping time by using a roundover bit on a router to smooth the corners. Myself would have left a bit more wood around handle area as it is the weakest point, nice Job!
The saw you are using is a Japanese style pull saw, you cut on the pull stroke so you can have better control of the cut and make it straighter. No need to push the saw into the wood to cut it with this type. This is why the blade can be thinner than on a regular handsaw, since you are pulling the blade it doesn’t deform and get bent making the cut irregular (western style wood saws need a thicker blade to stay straighter since you are pushing it from the rear end well away from where it starts cutting the wood
@@allentuggle2837 Not everyone has access to "The Woodrights Shop, PBS" that I did growing up. I'm just passing along what I was taught by Roy Underhill, he introduced me to it. Now at 60 I own 7 of them two of which I made myself.
Wow from the land down under where we arnt allowed to throw a pencil without getting fined for launching a deadly missile that is one beauty of a rifle well done, love that nice action that devides when you pull the trigger, never seen anything like it.
Fantastic Hudson.... You definitely win the McGuyver woodworking award. I made a couple out of some baltic birch and an old wooden Hockey Stick shaft. they work so well. The first one was OTT, the second was TTF like yours and so much easier to aim. The scope and Bi-pod are such a Tacticool touch. Well done :)
Great build!... here in ''overregulated'' Australia, you can't have a slingshot, unless is something you build by yourself... (!) I guess they mean the old wooden Y-shaped slingshots, but the ''letter of the Law'' can be translated to something like this... great for target practicing and small game hunting...
Pro tip: those plastic wall calendars people have in their offices that you can write on with a marker, glue won’t stick to them. It’ll dry up and just pop right off. They make awesome glue mats for this kind of thing!
Nice work my man! 👍 real craftsmanship. Stick to what you love. Share, and you’ll be a successful. Either in the real world, or on RUclips. Sending good vibes from Alberta, Canada. 👋
You can use 20 to 30 hacksaw blades, same direction teeth, tied up together as a grinding tool. It's much better than the one you are using here. It saves time.
Amazing work! You could use a palm router to knock down those edges in no time if you want to make your life easier. Ryobi makes a decent palm router for around $100 I believe.
You need a router for the edges. It will give you a uniform look all the way around. Kind of cartoon looking. But it takes off material fast and uniform. Saves a ton of rasping. Also you should look into kutzall disc's for grinders. I lost my rasp when I discovered them.
Very nice! The handle kinda reminds me of my dogs but sack, but hey, looks like it’s comfortable. Do me a favour though, please make sure the sling anchor at the top of the rifle is rock solid. Looks like it is, but just always check it. Rock on 👍
Hi there, Great job but you could make it a lot easier, just get yourself a farriers rasp. It should be easy to get one in a country full of horses. They are brilliant and fast for shaping wood. Be safe. A
As most of us do not have have all the heavy tools like you do. I hope you will use simple tools in your upcoming beginner's slingshot build video. 😅😅 Happy new year to you ! 🎉🎉
You inspired me to get a little crafty and make one of these with scraps I had laying around. Found some 1x4 pine boards, slapped them together, carved them out, stuck a long 1x2 on top, and made a little lever action trigger out of an old hex wrench and some screws. All I had to do was buy a slingshot and I went with one of those Daisy P51's with the grip and arm brace, because the frame had a little bracket that held it together so I used it to mount the frame on the end of the rifle. It's crude looking, but DAMN does it shoot hard. It's got a 3 foot pull. I'm nailing a small tree in my backyard 100+ yards away. I can't wait to experiment with bands. Excellent work dude! Keep innovating!
That’s awesome, glad you figured it out. I might make a beginner slingshot rifle video in the future so if you wanna follow along you can make another one. Great job. Good luck👍
Looks great, but why don't you just cast the slingshot rifle entirely out of epoxy resin? With a stainless steel rod as kernel? Then all you need is a mold. You can also build a matching slingshot pistol while you're at it.
@@hudsonhertz I think so myself, but I don't have your carving skills. If all goes well and the product is sound, you can start serial production and maybe make a pretty penny or two (or three). Приклад нужно опустить под углом вниз легче будет целится (как у всех ружей). Молодец руки растут из правильного места.
I would have bought a vintage bb-gun stock off E-bay for the project... you are already on to the next-level. Wow!
Beautiful job! Really enjoyed watching from the UK. I teach carpentry and woodworking for a living and you done a great job.
The bandsaw would cut far better if the blade guides were set correctly, lowered to almost touching the wood, far more accurate and safer.
Sweet build. Wish I could do this. My state would probably charge me with manufacturing firearms though. New jermany sucks. Keep up with the awesome builds. Bravo
Hard but very nice work

True skill and dedication, that’s a brilliant job
Pretty impressive woodworking skills for a young fella - great job. I am however a bit concerned about your rather twitchy trigger finger!
Might I suggest starting with a simple draw knife in the beginning to move material faster with less effort. Then to the rasp and file.
He looks too young to be familiar with Draw Knives..
I guess we should educate ro inspire research and learning.
Then on the other hand, He did a good job. Let him continue on and let him learn, like we did.

Another cheap addition - could be the use of a Laser Pointer, with a small range of adjustments, to aid the aiming and accuracy to the Target.
