Tip one, cleaner diet hah. But seriously it works. Exfoliator - calcium bicarbonate (baking soda) Toner - apple cider vinegar Moisturizer - coconut oil. Sounds like the hippy version but it is! And all that might cost ya 8 dollars for a month. Great video Maxx Fashion

I keep seeing people using these really light methods for exfoliation, am I doing it wrong? I literally just rub a bar of Irish spring on one of those rough shower cloths and rub my face until it feels smooth. My skin seems to have gotten used to it but is it unhealthy?

+LifeRuiner Tyrone damn, Irish spring on your face? that us definitely a no no. irishb spring is a deodorant/body bar. I really like St Ives green tea or apricot scrubs. they are oil free/ natural ingredients and my face has responded tremendously to them. only about 3-5 dollars depending on where you get them.

From mild to severe acne cases, it is best to consult a dermatologist so they can diagnose your acne type + prescribe you a topical antibiotic w/ a skin cell turnover cream (benzoyl peroxide / tretinoin) + possibly an oral antibiotic. If those don't treat the acne, the dermatologist will likely bump up your prescription to a stronger medication.... such as Isotretinoin (Accutane).
If the visiting the dermatologist is absolutely out of the question, I think it would be beneficial to look for products containing benzoyl peroxide / salicylic acid. However, these products should be those that stay on your skin for a few hours. A lot of the salicylic acid / benzoyl peroxide containing washes out there don't work too well because the actual medication doesn't stay on the affected area for more than a few seconds at a time.

I use Cetaphil (face wash) and I really love it! It's very gentle. My skin is dry, but it gets oily because of the dryness. My "T-zone" is what gets oily, so forehead, nose, and chin, but my cheeks are always very dry
Also, even if your acne may not be so bad to where you need to go to a dermatologist, I'd definitely recommend it! My acne wasn't bad by any means, but I still went because I'd get pimples every now and then, and I got prescribed low-dose antibiotics and my skin cleared up a lot. Good Rx creams/gels that have worked for me are Tazorac and Aczone.
    I hope this helps!!!

I'm late, so I dont know if you will read this. Here's some advice regarding facial cleansers, if you are acne prone skin, be careful with foaming cleansers, most foaming cleanser have a high ph level which can break your skins natural acid mantle and make your skin more alkaline which makes it a breeding ground for bacteria which in turn results in acne, also make sure your skin is acidic and opt for a cleanser at a ph rate of 5.5, it will keep your skin balanced. I highly recommend the Paula's Choice Pore Normalising Cleanser, Cerave Foaming Cleanser and Avene Soapless Gel Cleanser, all of which work wonders and affordable. Also just like you, I've tried plenty of products and most are just meh, I've rarely ever come across a product that is holy grail, however the Paula' Choice CLEAR anti redness solution with 2% bha (regular strength) is holy grail for me, it prevents future acne while tackling current acne that you may have, ive seen results instantly with it and also noticed a reduction in acne scarring.

Quick tip, try padding your face dry instead of wiping. Wiping causes irritation witch is one of the causes of acne. Also try visiting acne.org they have a great regimen that has been working for me very well.Great video Maxx!

I've found drinking loads of water helps me personally. In terms of products, I use clean and clear essentials facial cleanser for sensitive skin, clean and clear essentials deep cleansing toner, and Cetaphil daily advance lotion. Make sure all your products say "non comodegenic" (something along those lines), because that basically means it won't clog your pores. For me, I have found that low percentages of salicylic acid and products designed for sensitive skin works best. Also, i saw another comment about changing pillowcases frequently, and that is extremely important. Changing nothing else in my routine but the frequency of when I change my pillowcase improved my skin drastically.

MAXX, Braggs apple cider vinegar is liquid gold. Mix half with water and put on your face after wash before moisturizer. It works insanely well. Why? Has the same ph balance as your skin and acne will disappear, but be consistent . Look up some videos , give it a try

  • @benilaria4166

Hey Maxx!! Tip for you that has given me lots of success.
I've found that changing my pillow case every couple of days really helps keep my skin clear. All the oils from your face build up on your pillow very quickly, so changing the pillow case regularly provides a clean surface to sleep on.
    Try it out!

I used to have the same problem and what really made adifference for me was to stop using the towel to wipe my face when I washed it. Just use paper towels or even toilet paper! It's so simple but it makes such a big difference. Remember, towels are really dirty!

I look at my acne treatment similar to muscle confusion. You wouldn't do the same exercises with the same weight everyday and expect to consistently get results, so why use the same face wash every day. I believe that after a while my body adapts to the face wash i use and after using it everyday ill eventually start to seen acne appear again. Because of this i use three different products to wash my face and cycle through each of them everyday, and this has worked extremely well for me. I use: Clean & Clear Blackhead Eraser scrub, Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask, and Neutrogena All in 1 acne control. I bought them all at my local grocery store and they're pretty cheap (less than $10)

Hey Maxx!/everyone! Here's what I've learned from the spa, research, and experience:
    1) As tempting as it is, don't wipe it off too often because lack of oil triggers your pores to release more. Wearing a mattifying day cream & super moisturizing night cream will trick your pores into thinking there's enough oil
    2) Avoid skin care products with ALCOHOL because it can dry up your pores and make them want to release more oil
    3) Don't exfoliate more than once a week for acne-prone and oily skin. It can stimulate oil glands and (if bacterial) spread bacterial acne.
    4) Dupes for Clearasil are at Walmart and have done the same thing for me. :) L'Oreal ~$35

I found out some friends had been taking this medication called accutane and their skin was perfectly clear! So I decided to try it for myself. It's been 3 months so far and my fave has cleared up about 65%. It takes about 6 months depending on severity to clear up skin completely

Try not using face cleaning products for a while. Your skin has probably built up a tolerance to them. I had been using facial cleansing products since freshman year of high school. Just stopped using them (senior in college), and my skin has gotten way better.
Also, i think it's admirable that you want to cure your acne on your own, but why not try seeing a dermatologist?

All these acne washes, face scrubs etc. they're all cheap chemical shit that your putting on your face. From my personal experience I cleared my acne from the inside out i.e Nutrition. If you eat rubbish its eventually going to show on your face. I know this is a fashion channel but I've been told to wash your hair regularly and don't use hair products. Also, Don't scrub your face as it will only aggravate your skin. Roacutane will clear the heaviest, Filthiest pimple the world has ever seen. Your skin will be as clear as Guzman's.
