    Hey Everyone,
I'm so used to making videos by myself that it's going to take some practice learning to make videos with another person.
I'm working double time on finishing part 2 of the latest Cobain case video. People are still signing the petition everyday & I think part 2 will help us reach the gofundme campaign to hand deliver the petition to the new Seattle Coroner. Thanks to everyone who is helping out. Thanks for stopping by!

What we like changes. Kurt bought a lot of the Univox Hi-Flyer guitars and loved the pickups. These were Mosrite copies. Kurt owned a Mosrite MK IV and gave it to Pat (this was the “bathtub” Mosrite. He treasured it and put it in a bathtub with his journals when he went on tour to keep it safe. Unfortunately a pipe in an adjoining apartment burst IIRC and subsequently the tub became a back flow for the water. I understand this Mosrite was semi-damaged). He also owned a Semie Mosley made Gospel MK IV which was super rare (he probably didn’t know how rare it was, it was used on Nevermind and at the Nevermind rehearsal sessions. IIRC it was stolen out of his car around the time he was living in his car in L.A.(?) and now has been auctioned off a couple of times since for big money.) Earnie Bailey was working with Loretta Mosley to have a couple left handed Mosrites made for Kurt when he died (murdered!). Kurt was also really into Steve Albini’s all aluminium Valeno guitar and recorded a lot of In Utero on it. Around the time of In Utero Kurt played his white Univox Hi-Flyer on Saturday Night Live and in the Heart Shaped Box video. Kurt really did not like the Jagstang sadly and rarely played it. Had Kurt lived he would have to promote it.
If you want a really interesting story I can tell you you about the Courtney Love Mercury Guitars debacle and how she screwed them over BIG TIME. I would love to tell your viewers this story!

You're wrong about the Jagstang, Theres really no where that was mentioned that Kurt didn't like it and he rarely played it due to evidence, He looked quite happy about it and content when interviewed by Narduwar backstage at the PNE Forum Canada in January 1994, and also he did talk about it on the MTV December 10 1993 Interview with Kurt Loder (During the last minutes of the Interview) He doesn't ever mention he did not like it. He was still softening up to the Jagstang, He only had a main major complaint about it and that was it not having contours, which was due to a result of miscommunication between Larry Brooks (Kurt's friend and Fender custom shop masterbuilder). He used it actually pretty frequently throughout the In Utero tour, more times than the Oranj Stank (Red mustang) and more than Skystang II, making it the second most used guitar on that tour only being beaten by his main workhorse the Skystang I. Otherwise couple of shows he played it almost the whole setlist.

@@mirata7748 he rarely played the Jagstang on the In Utero tour he played the 3 built-for-tour Mustangs mostly. Nirvana had European TV appearances on that tour, had he liked the Jagstang wouldn’t he have played it on TV if only to build hype? Think about it

Credit where due though… Courtney’s voice on that album is really good. Great screaming but also the softer singing.
I think Hole benefited from jamming with Kurt. While he may not have directly contributed with writing, he could have almost served more of a producer’s role informally suggesting variations to existing melodies and arrangements.
He could have also helped to shape and develop the material by being part of the jamming process.

What Kurt DID like about the Mustang is that they are made with not only a thin neck but a short scale length, only 23 1/4" compared to the Stratocaster which is 25 1/2". Kurt had small fingers so he liked the small frets. You are still right the he preferred Jaguars. He said that if Strats were made with a short scale he would want one. Which is a great book. When I finished it, I screamed, 'I need more!!!' But it does say it was a Kurt t shirt, & not Nirvana. And Marie, I have had a MASSIVE crush on Dave Grohl since Nirvana, so I get the fascination. Though if my wish were to come true, I probably couldn't keep up with him at this point in life. He loved and babied his Jag because it was unique and rare. Let's take him at his own word here. The Fender Mustang was his favorite guitar.
His favorite single guitar that he actually owned was that Jag... but his favorite model of guitar was clearly the Mustang.

Yeah, he did smash a couple. if you watch closely, he always brings out a Strat for the last song or two... then proceeds to smash it to bits. There are websites dedicated to tracking every guitar he ever played live. Strats are by far the most smashed. I think that's because they were so easy to find left- handed models.
I'm just trying to share what I know from years of loving guitars and Nirvana... but, yes, it's funny to see how hurt some people are that the Mustang may not have been his favorite.
In my eyes, there are two favorites, in a way.
His favorite singular guitar, that particular Jag, and his favorite model in general, the Mustang.

Dave and Kurt appear now to me to be a yin and yang of Nirvana. Maybe a Johnny Rotten and Steve Jones, if you will.
So I do think that to not recognize Soundgarden and what they did with the extraordinary vocal ability of their lead singer, even the ability of the lead singer of Pearl Jam for that matter.

Jaguars are an amazing guitar and they were supposed to be the best guitar leo fender made back in the day. People didn't get it tho and the Ventures and the beach boys were the only big rock stars who used them. Mustangs are retarded but cool and when tweaked are good. The irony is the bridge on the jag is horrible and while Kurt's had a completely diff type (his jag was seriously modded) most people replace them with a mustang bridge. Kurt said he loved his jag in the "corporate magazines still suck" article.

Definitely not. Smashing Pumpkins were in Chicago doing their own thing. They had no idea what was happening in Seattle at the time. None of their early music even follows the fast, slow blueprint. Smashing Pumpkins were more of a gothy new wave band in the late 80s. Closer to the Cure than anything else.
Grunge was literally called "the Seattle sound." As in if you weren't a band from Seattle between 1984-1989...you're not it.

There’s an MTV interview where someone off camera asks Kurt about the Jag-Stang and Pat laughs about it, Kurt says he still likes his Mustangs better.
The Jag-Stang has more Mustang DNA than Jaguar.
Kurt’s custom Ferrington guitar had zero Jaguar features.
And Jaguars weren’t significantly costlier than Mustangs back in the early 90s. The 24” scale length kept them both in the lower price tiers for Fenders. Vintage Jags still go for much less than Jazzmasters (25.5” scale like Strats and Teles).
And finally, Kurt had Fender send him 6 Mustangs and 0 Jaguars for the In Utero tour.
Idk why he stopped using the Jaguar before the In Utero tour but it seems he preferred Mustangs at least by that time.
More interestingly, Kurt liked his Telecaster best at the end according to Ernie Bailey and Ernie was going to work something out with Mosrite.

Uh I wear Flannel shirts because of my grandfather, he wore them damn near every day from mid September till mid May he wasn't a logger he wasn't from Seattle, he was from DuBois Pennsylvania he was a state trooper and railroad police then he worked at the Philadelphia Inquire and then worked for PECo (or as we called is PE, Philadelphia Electric Company) I have pictures from the 70s and 80s of my grandfather in a flannel shirt at PE in the workshop drinking coffee doing a crossword puzzle on the tablesaw with the blade retracted all the way in to make a flat surface.
And I have pictures of me in the very early 80s wearing little tiny flannel shirts at the age of 3 or 4... Maybe 5
So your comment about people only started wearing them because of Kurt is wrong and completely out of touch with reality... you should stop projecting your follower poser reason for wearing flannel, onto everyone else. In other words speak for yourself. You.. you only started wearing flannel because of Kurt...
And to be honest... you are exactly the type of person Kurt said he didn't like... the kid who only dressed a certain way because they saw a band dress that way or had their hair a certain way because he did...

damn dude that seems pretty harsh tbh. I never wore flannel shirts I always wore polos like ralph lauren and then I got into american eagle, in fact you may hate this but american eagle occasionally produces nirvana shirts, which I know everyone is going to hate, and I don't buy them. But I always liked guitar, particularly acoustic guitar. Which, ok like the drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers is more like it. I can remember when people even here in the south east would buy sweaters and then tie them around their waist like grunge rockers do, for a time. You could totally dress punk or whatever other style and not be of the mindset or perhaps if you would go so far as to say that you're for or against a certain genre. It's all in whatever makes us unique individuals. I mean Kurt wore women's dresses, and you're grandfather I would wager didn't wear dresses, so I think that's more like what he was talking about, is like frat guys who bash on queer people and such. And disagree if you want to.

@@KenMabie Why seemingly so upset about over that remark in the video? Lol, he's not lying or projecting, of course people wore flannels prior to grunge music becoming popular, but it wasn't considered a trend or something that people were rushing out to buy till the early/mid 90s when grunge became big. I was barely a preteen but I vividly remember the "trendy" shops for preteen/teens in my mall suddenly started selling ridiculously overpriced flannels and tons of my classmates started wearing them around 92-93. In the same way that 80's hair metal bands influened and made certain clothes and styles trendy in the 80's, grunge DID popularize the flannel among younger people in the 90's, like it or not. I don't think pointing out that fact makes anyone a poser. Prior to grunge, flannels were mostly considered "middle aged dad " clothes or the stereotypical lumberjack type shirts. Grunge in the 90's just happened to make them "cool" among a younger gen. Personally as a teen girl back then, I didn't care for them. I also knew boys who rocked dresses, makeup and nail polish in middle school around the same years you mentioned. Though, they were mostly the goths who liked Twiggy Ramirez from Marilyn Manson. Wasn't anything ground breaking in 95, at least not where I lived, you sound as if you want a trophy or something.
