I thought it was only me who thought that. I was 11 in 2000 when I saw Foo Fighters on TV so that's the Dave Grohl I knew (short hair and sideburns). Then in 2002 I got really into Nirvana and to me it was like 2 separate people. I never thought about the drummer from Nirvana when I listened to Foo Fighters and never thought of Foo Fighters when I listened to Nirvana. He just looked so different, to me he looked younger in 2000 than in 1991! Now the modern bearded long hair Dave is kind of like a mix between 1991 and 2005 Dave.

Dave's voice is iconic, unmistakable, powerful, raw, and often quite beautiful; and without question, his drumming is just as equally impressive and iconic. He's an absolute legend within the realm of rock music, and he'll certainly remain a powerful influence and source of inspiration for many future artists. Respect.
