In 1996 I was doing security at Hollywood Palladium outside of the parking lot and Foo Fighters we're playing that night and a cab pulls up and Pat Smear comes out. What a moment I will never forget
You weren't around on RUclips in 2008, then? I saw people complaining about Pat back then. Not all the time, but it was like they thought he was an insult to Kurt that he was there. But it's been a long time since I saw any of that. I remember one particular complaint under the footage for the rehearsals to the Unplugged show, when Pat reminded Kurt about something or other. Never mind (no pun intended) that Pat's literally older than Kurt, *and* that Kurt wanted Pat in the band - none of these facts entered an irritated mind that decided to say its words and express its anger. I never got bothered by Pat being in Nirvana, myself.

It really had to be Smear. No one else had the skills, temperament and personality to make it work. Without Pat they would likely have stayed a trio IMO
To be honest, I think if Pat didn't join, the band would've imploded earlier in their tour. Kurt's addiction would've gotten way more out of hand and he probably would've ended up like Layne Staley if things didn't go the way they already did.

Grohl didn’t pick Pat over Krist… they play different instruments…
I know. That was odd.
The video doesn't mention it, but I think Dave said somewhere he wanted them both until he realized it would just be seen as Nirvana 2.
Random Mike Ness cameo! That man is slept on. I have the Social D skeleton tattooed on my shin.
The thing I am most jealous about with Pat is that signature Harmony Buck Owens guitar. I need one so badly.
i wanna hear the 'COLOR and THE SHAPE ' with Will on drums and see how different it is
Probably terrible
Rolled my eyes at that narrator blunder too
There are demos of those songs with him on RUclips. Definitely way different
Every music enjoyer needs to hear the germs 🔥
😂 I remember when Pat showed up, I was like, "who's this extra dude??🤨" 😂🤷♂️ 🤷🏽♂️
He was a punk rock legend carrying the guitar in the band of an MTV darling, that's who the extra guy was
@@neilpatrickhairless like thirty years later, thank you so much. Perfect timing.
having seen the Germs first show which was pretty bad and remembering him sitting in a gutter with a bunch other punk kids in Hollywood, to chart his rise since 77 is breathtaking. His peers back then, X, the Weirdos, the Dickies and more no one could have guessed that it would be this guy who would out fame everyone, except perhaps the GoGos, its a remarkable feat of talent and skill.
Should have mentioned that Darby Crash also died by suicide
most nirvana history vidoes I watch have that deep chorus guitar song in the background, but I don't know what it's called.
It really had to be Smear. No one else had the skills, temperament and personality to make it work. Without Pat they would likely have stayed a trio IMO
We always talk about Dave but losing two vocalists prematurely would hit hard for Pat...
Foo fighters too, he lost Taylor Hawkins. Pats never been big on drugs or alcohol either he's like the calm center of all the bands he's in.
I never hear anyone else bring up his name. There's gotta be someone who finds it funny, also.
That's my "in" not my "Aunt" lol Would it kill youtube creators to proofread the AI generated stuff? That's ok - great video!
If Pat Smear had not joined Nirvana I would have liked to have seen and heard Greg Ginn from Black Flag.
To be honest, I think if Pat didn't join, the band would've imploded earlier in their tour. Kurt's addiction would've gotten way more out of hand and he probably would've ended up like Layne Staley if things didn't go the way they already did.
There's a story that mike McCready from pearl jam reach Cobain and ask that he hears Cobain and vedder will make a record together. McCready says that he want to join them as a lead guitar .Then cobain said, " we will talk about that in other days" .
Kurt hated Pearl Jam
Kurt being polite.
Kurt Cobain said he wanted a 2nd guitarist just to make it easier on him, singing and playing the leads he did play...
What version of everlong is that at the end, it's Good and fast!
