  • Discrimination in metal detecting refers to a feature or setting on the metal detector that allows users to accept or reject specific metal targets based on their conductivity.
The primary purpose of discrimination is to help detectorists focus on specific types of valuable targets while ignoring unwanted items like nails, bottle caps, or other trash metals.

Thanks Russ!! Some detectors have silent rejection/discrimination and some detectors have audible rejection/discrimination. Some detectors we can adjust the volume and tone pitch of rejected/discriminated targets. I can't wait for next week's 3 minute Thursday!!

It has its advantage and also can have disadvantages, Use it wisely depending on location and how much trash is in the ground/iron and those pesty unwanted items. Thanks .. Happy Hunting. Peace

Very wise words. You can sometimes discriminate out good targets if you're not careful.
