Hello Russ....thanks for posting on the BH Discovery 3300 model....I have been using this machine for 2 years now and I am very satisfied with its results.
The device is very user friendly and I have found many valuable items both historically and monetarily. I also purchased mine through Amazon along with the pin-pointer and headphones...the latter two are very cheaply made but are ok for the $ and for first time users... You covered most of the basics with this 3300 model except for the balance function which I perform as a must do prior to detecting any location. I also utilize the pin pointer feature with a trick I learned from another video posted here on RUclips which allows the pin-pointer feature to be dialed in by continuously pressing the pin-pointer button on the control unit....this feature intended or not gets me zeroed in to an inch or so and that allows for less digging with my small trowel. As with all machines its mostly about location....but this model is very nice....thanks once again for posting this video on behalf of the 3300 model.

Thank you for taking the time to talk about this metal detector! I am considering this one or the much pricier Garrett AT Pro and since I know nothing about metal detectors, I hoped your video would be illuminating and educational. Yes! My feelings so far is that this detector might be the perfect choice, as I don't know how hog-wild I'll go with this hobby and perhaps breaking the bank isn't necessary for me to have a good time looking for treasure! My treasure Hunting group never uses discrimination mode. Gold and silver can hide under heavier iron or metals. We dig up everything from pulltabs to relics and other valuable metals. Plus when everyone metal detects, they never demonstrate the maximum search depth the unit can detect. The Discovery 3500 could detect as deep as 4 feet deep and reports of finding heavier metals at 6 feet on pin-point.

Ive dug a ton of single targets and still get tones from the hole but I cant find anything else . Given my sniffer is a cheapie but it works to find the original target . I ve been hunting the same spot since I started and I have found other things in holes I dug with my Sharp Shooter 2 ...... am I doing something wrong ? So I've had this detector for a while. I never really understood it. Great video. I have a question. When you detect something is it with the center of the coil or the front edge? I know it may be a dumb question and also the pinpoint function. Is it pinpointed at the highest pitch sound?

    • @AmericanDetection

It’s dead center of the coil in the middle of the round hole in the coil. Us highest pitch will be when the target is in the center of the coil.

    Hi Russ,
Thank you for this informative video. I am just getting started so I appreciate all the info. I used my Discovery MD for the first time a couple of days ago and I realized quickly that I need a pinpointer also. I was trying to detect on a rocky beach, and I found that I was spending a lot of time only to find junk. I noticed that you are quite good at visually finding the Item. I think of that is probably a matter of practice. My real question is about shovels, I bought the Lesche digger, but I found myself using a lightweight entrenching tool much more. Does one really need both?

    Awesome video, thank you!
Update: Just tried it out and I was confused about the ground balance at 2:55, it seemed to affect sensitivity.
Edit: This video helped with ground balance ruclips.net/video/Klm5yjbiDvs/видео.html

The Discovery 3300 is actually a pulse system metal detector. No common metal detector would detect over 1ft under ground let a lone 2', 3' or even 4' deep.
Set your detectors for all metals. Iron could hide gold or even silver if there is to much of it. Camouflaging it, matter of speaking. Dig up all metals, youll be surprised what you'll find. The 3300 is to good for finding shallow objects. It's for finding relics and heavier metals at greater depth. Dont discriminate, its foolish with the Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300.
