One of the best peterbilt trucks ever made was the peterbilt 359 extended hood with the 3408 cat engine and 13 speed trans now that's legendary. Old trucks rule

The split window was so iconic for trucks tbh like you said if you put at 389 and 589 side by side just opinion but they look identical besides the windshield but camera probably does do justice

The doors are very different. I hate the doors on the 589. Looks like a Western Star.
I love that they went with a black sleeper and roof cap matched to the frame on the legendary model.
I love the flat windshield on the 389, but this isn’t TOO bad.

Ha ha ha the hood from the classic Peterbilt 389 was stuck to the Peterbilt 567 Heritage!))
Love it. Being a Driver for 27 years that is 6’6” tall. I love my 567 because of the Leg room. I’ve driven 379’s and 389’s with my knees rubbing the dash. That’s a 567 cab with a flat hood.
How’s that possible? Can’t you slide the seat back into the sleeper a good ways?

I'm 6'6 and have a 378 and fit very comfortably in it. It is a sleeper though. The day cab I can't fit in
I can already tell I like the fact you don’t have to squeeze into the sleeper.
Absolutely gorgeous! Love the one piece windshield. Interior is killer
With the subtle changes to add for a better driver experience, wondering if you should've waited to order your truck to get some of the benefits of the 589. I'm glad that they kept the tried and true classic look, many fans were probably worried that it would've had similar headlights to the W990

I like the short nose a lot. The traditional hood and grill style will always look best.

I love the short cab and I love the the short nose but the one thing I don't like is the steering wheel they should have went with a proper retro-style two-spoke steering wheel

While nothing will beat a true long nose, this is a reasonable replacement for modern day stuff. Nothing looks worse then the trucks companies make look aerodynamic. This atleast has some class to it.
I was a bit worried they would get rid of the classic look but they did good with the 589.

It just doesn’t move me, but that’s because I mainly like conventional Peterbilts made pre 1973 with the little window cab

It’s a tough one glad they didn’t loose the traditional style but it’s kinda odd looking the windshield should have been a 2 piece and slightly less slanted back would have kept it more authentic I meant he’ll nobody buys a traditionaly style peterbilt for fuel mileage lol

They to redo the cab it needs a two piece windshield and the cab does not need to be that wide.

Not that my opinion matters. But it’ll never beat a 359/379. I lost faith when the 389 came out. But who knows. Mabey it won’t squeak after a couple thousand miles 🤣
I agree I tell everyone I will still drive my 64 6&4 all day 351 needle nose before I buy a new truck and the newest truck I bought for my business is a 95 379

All they did take a 389 hood and Put 579 cab in between the sweeper and good at least they could have cap the classic Dash that they had in the 389 and 379 and it's very obvious they changed the Sleep windows to the 579 windows that goes in their sleepers😊

It's a beautiful truck but the sleeper isn't big enough for me I'm used to the ultra cab 84 you put that on this truck and you got the true Pete that truck with a 285 wheel Base is a true Pete

I'm 33 been around and in peterbilts since I was a kid. Still would rather have and drive a 379 or 359. The cab being longer on the 589 just throws the whole look off plus I've always hated the 389 headlights

Only thing that sucks on bigger trucks is the changes aren't as dramatic as cars,trucks,vans,etc the noses are still similar to last year
i bet next year they will launch a new big dog cabover to give you something dramatic :)

Freightliner needs to bring back Coronado back…it looked so much better than any other classic truck.
Are Peterbilts connected to DAF? As the cab over range appears to be rebranded DAFS and the indicator stalk is also from a something like a 2003 DAF bus here in the UK.

@@elliotease4390 Paccar also owned Foden trucks in the UK from 1980 to 2006.

Looks like a fat 389, and it really shows with the Mid-roof sleepers. Just looks very out of proportion compared to the hood, and the high roof of the Daycab section of the mid-roof sleepers emphasizes this.
Sorry, I regurgitated a little bit when I saw those headlights, never been a fan of those, gotta respect the classics, the original square ones or dual round ones will always look best. Other than that, looks like a tidy truck, do miss the split windscreen too though. 😊

You can suggest Peterbuilt to produce new line for the world a CENTER DRIVE TRUCK where the driver sit in the Center nit left side or right side. It’s gone be super hit cause this truck is for Domestic Market or can export any country on this planet without redesigning for different countries. Example UK, Australia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Japan and other are Left hand Drive the steering wheel is on Left. US, European, Russia and others are Right Hand drive, steering wheel is on Right Side. If Peterbuilt manufacture Center Drive they will be the only one to introduce this unique design product.
