You can literally hear the air exhausting from the clutch, Bruce Wilson: “I think it’s hydraulic” 🙄
I had the same thought
Honest truckers review lol
Hydraulic with air assist. Have it in my 567.
Honest play trucker review.
It is hydraulic....with air assist
It’s like a an international and a western star ran a train on a 389 and 9 months later this popped out.🤔🤔😂
For me it’s the dash that kills it, A redesign 389 dash to fit the 2.1 m cab would have been nice instead of the 567 dash
Looks like the dash you'd find in a low end F150. What laughing joking numbnut designed this thing?
I feel like the 389 with the digital dash looks absolutely hideous with the way it was integrated imo. It looks like a retrofit gone wrong. The 567 looks okay with the digital dash, though.
There's no way in hell paccar will revert to using an analog dash now, especially with the newer models
I hate that they got rid if the classic cab now it looks like a western star
I agree. I think it's more like a Volvo with a hood.
We have 3 of the 567’s that’s a 567 cab we love them. Ours have sleepers and the room is awesome. Especially being over 6 foot tall. Can’t beat the room.
Hay my boss runs a 389 and I run a 579 for him we are supper glad they put the two tow together we run 7 axles we haul grain.
I definitely can see this being good for local work in this configuration such as tank trucks, logging, dump applications municipal units heavy haul and regional use. Now that caterpillar is a thing of the past sadly, i would opt for a series 60 Detroit Diesel as it is more reliable than Cummins or Paccar motors. I feel the government needs to step back and ease up on engine manufacturers as sensors and ECM's are way to sensitive for grueling over the road applications which are causing expensive breakdown's and loss of revenue which depending, can break a company. Trucks are getting way to expensive to purchase and finance not to mention maintain. This is a tough occupation to begin with so why make it even more difficult. I dont see a truck like this surviving long here in the great Northwest.
Air release 5th wheel had that since 91 there great when you drop and hook alot. Cool truck!!
KW had Manuel cab release in the 70s I had a k100 with one
It’s like a western star now. Big window same dash or very similar. I hated the new cab in 97 when they came out. It grows on you. I’m thinking I’ll
Keep my 379. It’s the power train I can’t get passed
The headlights design does not match the truck. But I love it
My next truck. Big window is the same as I have on my Cascadia and I love it, so I like this too.
i love it cant wait to put my order in for one.. DONT SKIP NO ADS PPL
I started driving Pete's in '72 w/ 351s, have driven 389s and 567s w/ and with out sleepers. Wish Peterbilt had added about 6 inches to the back of all (new) cabs so the seat doesn't rub the back wall or you could hang a coat behind drivers seat. I would like to see a vocational option of brake peddle on the floor, some times you had to idle up the truck and drag the brakes at the same time. I think it's faster to go from gas to brake with both at the same elevation.
Hopefully someone will be able to make some kind of light set up for the front and back sides of the air breathers like the 389. I remember watching the video of the debut of the 589. That was one of the things they mentioned, the way the breathers sits in a little. I'll miss the split windshield, but I do like the more roomier cab. Overall I like it, I'm actually in the process of placing a order for 2 of them. I'm just waiting on Peterbilt to release pricing and to start accepting orders for them.
I’m with Mr Berry, if we are going to be stuck with this cab, please turn that switch panel towards the driver. First time I sat in the new cab about 3years ago, it was my first thought. Maybe the aftermarket can come up with something, similar to what kw did years ago on the old dashes. We put that kit in 5 or 6 W9 Bs in the nineties
Beautiful truck. I think it’s time for you to get one Bruce!! You need a day cab
The 589 looks good
I just it would have a sleeper, so I can see what changes in that and what it looks like . Overall nice looking Truck.
DEF is on the wrong side for the pumps.
Options I'd like to see offered
Updated looking 389 dash.
Basic steering wheel.
Lastly a split windshield.
Well, I was wrong, You do have real driver checking it out!
Someone should make a windshield bar to break it up a bit. A different visor would be an improvement also.
I will bet SH tube would make them for you!
PUT DUCT TAPE ON THE GLASS. LOL ROF!
I love it. I used to drive a 389 it's a very nice truck. Now I drive a 880 kenworth it has basic same cab and I love it.
GLAD TO SEE THE REAL AIR GUAGES!!
LAST YEAR I PICKED UP
2 PETES FROM THE DENTON TX FACTORY LOT THAT HAD THE NEW DASH DISPLAY, AND NO REAL GUAGES!!
BOTH THESE TRUCKS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DISPLAY CHANGING ITSELF OR GOING TOTAL BLANK!
WAS A REAL PIECE OF SHIT TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE NO AIR GUAGES!!
I don't love it, but I dont hate it either. Drove an '18 579 delivering fuel myself, the cab was actually fairly nice. I don't like the split fenders though, not at all. After a bit of a wear, they never line up correctly. Can definitely appreciate the air assist on the clutch, went from a Mack to a 389, my arthritic knee misses the air assist the Mack had terribly! I think Peterbilt may have gotten closer to getting right than KW did, at least from where I'm sitting.
❤ dem trux with the invisible sleeper 🤣
I love it. Used to drive regional 400-550 miles a night drop & hooks. Jersey LI CT PA upstate NY. This thing is absolutely perfect for that. Woulda been fun driving this thing.
We have a 567 for a “totter” where i work. Its decent gutless. The dash has gave problems digital of course. Windshield has a crack in it to. But it gets ran pretty much every day. Oh wait the water pump exploded one time to. But they warrantyed it
I love the old modern day looks
With the right tires and a full size headache rack it'd make a good Swamp logging truck.
I need that for a car hauler day cab!
It seems to me everyone is taking a PC stance on this truck, me personally there is nothing about these new trucks that I like !
Awesome thanks for sharing
You know they're people out there that can make aluminum hoods Freightliner Classic and Kenworth W900 and other trucks so I can come out with the same rivet style Hood and put it on an Ultra Cab to just like what Peterbilt my biggest pet peeve is they didn't keep the dash inside and Chains the bomb and add more cup holders in
Just bring back the 359 already! The side boxes look just like the 70s KW boxes…. I don’t like the new design trucks but that is just me! Go old style
Battery boxes are like the ones on my 2007 t800 also the short fenders for the hood and interior is like the kw which is ok by me
Friday august 18th hope you can come to the pull in Paris Tennessee!!!
I like the short hood so i can stay light and i like the wider cab
To use ac with the temperature. You have to it the auto button first
Had a 2018 579 with the air clutch it was awesome for fuel hauling getting in the stores an stop an go traffic. Definitely a game changer from the older stiffer clutch
It's hyd clutch with air assist and 589 uses the same setup
I wish kenworth would have done something like this with the W 900 instead of the W990 because then it would’ve looked more like a B model W 900
As a guy that has never driven a semi, but does drive a manual car... I bet I could hop in a drive that with that clutch. I am aware of the basics of shiting a semi (like only only pushing the clutch in half way unless you're going into first, how range selectors and splitters work, double clutching and floating, that sort of stuff.
Much easier on you and truck if you only use the clutch to start and stop, my opinion anyway, everyone is different.
Split windshields need to come back, asap!
These guys should see a 2023 model EU truck. Those interiors are insane + functionality
This isn't a top-of-the-line truck. The 579 truck is the most advanced. American trucks are larger, roomier, and come with fridges, microwaves, tv's, built in desks, closets, etc. They are also far more efficient than those flat-front cabovers.
ive seen top of the line american truck, those can look nice but have waaaay less features than a 90's scania or volvo. the only better thing about murican trucks is their space. EU trucks come standard with a microwave, tv, closet etc. you should really go watch a video on new EU trucks and youll blow your mind. imagine the newest bmw 5 series but every thing put into a truck. when i saw this video i didnt read the title and thought it was some 90's truck with an aftermarket dashboard.
@@MrPolskaXboxNL Furthermore, NONE of them compare to Tesla's new futuristic truck, which is surpassing all expectations even now.
Clutch is Air hydraulic
Bleed all the air pressure out a elephant would have problems pushing it in.
The inside is a 579 replica with very slight differences.
Awesome video
I like that drivers side step way better then the one on the 567. Do you know if it would fit the 567?
The white leds on the back of the cab are from the 567 trucks they have had them for awhile I think
i would buy a 579 or a 379 but they would have to put a c15 with a automatic its califorina pushing that emissions crap
Good trucks the got there
Bruce the mx 13 is actually built in part of Cummings check out the full details of that it's Paccar and Cummings built
Yeah not the worst looking thing. I drive a 2024 t880 at work and have had it for 4 months now, and tbh I really like the comfort of it. This is coming from someone who drove w9’s for years before they don’t look as good as a long nose truck that’s for sure but day in day out the newer paccar interior is way more comfortable and my t880 is way smoother than my old w9
Bruce, when you ask for a review let reviewer review it lol.
Cool truck man
It’s the same cab as the 579. I love the 579. I definitely enjoy it. The smart nav has the gauges as well.
chads in there things are going to get good.
I like the short nose, wish I could afford one. I’ll take the hate but I like the short nose better than the long…..
I wish! They would stop with those ugly head lights on all these new Pete's I like the air breathers and the paint scheme and the color on this one
It’s a peterbilt w990 if you will
Same cab
I'm going to say, some where downt he road someone going to make a dash like the 379 or any of the old one and put it in to the 359 and or add the set up or make a windshield of two windows to it. Lots of playing around to make it look good but I guess the window can't be done due to the roof of the cab. One thing I notice in the Dash it looks to close to the international dash a little but I take it that the designer have to make it in a way its different front the rest. but I don't know.. I'm just giving my throughts.
Looking at the hood well.. mhm
Very well done HEAD-TRACTOR! Why don't you make advertise to KENWORTH W900B, please ?
just put a black decal strip in the middle of the windshield theres your split windshield
Super cool video 👏👍🖐️🥰
I had an 07 379 with a 5th wheel lock
i think that paccar engine has 510 or 530hp if it is an mx13, they're used in daf trucks overhere in europe, haven't driven a peterbilt or any american brands but paccar is very quite, that was the first thing i recognized when taking my old jobs daf xf530 on the road, and my old boss said that his next option of a new truck would be one with an l6 in it since scanias V8 engines are thirsty and especially when pulling 64 tonnes of woodchips and cereals
I love the channel, and also semi casual. Chad Berry is the home run king of building trucks. Outside of Bill Rethwisch, Fred, Luke, Lisa, Tim Gentry, and Troy Massey, this was an all star video!!!
The one piece windshield is cheaper for them but more expensive for the buyer's!
It looks like the western star vocational model
Hydro /air assisted sounds like.
I would like to see a 625 hp 2250 hp torque Cummins for the heavy haul industry cause that’s what I’m interested in
It is absolutely hilarious that you guys seem to still want a split windshield! In Sweden both Scania and Volvo got rid of the split windshield in the early 1950!!!
This isn’t Sweden.
It's alot cheaper to replace the split window because most of the time you only have to replace one.
@@havocreaper2404 Yes much cheaper for sure but the vision will be 100% better whitout that bar in the middle, and also sitting so low in the cab, you guys doing a good job not going crazy in there.
All You foreigners like futuristic ugly vehicles. For you guys a Volvo and Scania is a cool thing but for us Americans foreign trucks are ugly spacemobiles....
@@Mygirlfriend3141 Well both yes and no. However it's completely different trucking cultures in Sweden and USA, since you seem to be from Canada I've actually been to Quebec once to the Rodeo du camion. I was riding along a race in Lapointe's Kenworth and that was quite something but it's competition trucks of course. Guys there put in so much time in their trucks, it becomes a lifestyle. I just think american trucks seem a bit impractical for some job's like logging truck for example, the ones in Sweden has good maneuverability, much steering angle on the frontaxle, good vision from the high cab, they grossing 74 tons, I know they do same in Canada, but maybe not on such narrow and tight cornered roads.
I like your thumbnail, I've been driving Fendt since 2008 in work and I got one at home also.
Seems cool, I don’t like the two piece fenders. Hopefully the long hood will have one piece fenders
They do
Ain't nothing sweeter than a long nose Peter!
Cool lil day can ! But once a Pete always a Pete, isn't that how it goes ?
The Paccar MX13 is a DAF engine. DAF are also owned by Paccar
I'm so glad I live I the past
I’m a kw guy. Once you can’t get a B or a L anymore might just make me a peterbilt guy. Looks way better than the kenworth new body styles.
Damn the 389s that are around it look way way better.
So it's an air assisted clutch and when they go out, good luck pushing the pedal to the floor lol
This has a three piece rear window on this daycab model.
Peterbilt needs to make a 589 exhd.
One question, will they have the PACCAR engine be standard?? Can you get them with the Cummings X-15??
Seems like the same dash from my old 2014 Pete mixer
I don’t think they understand how many old school trucks and drivers are still out there. It’s too modern for me and i am 26. I drive a 05 379. It’s a little new too me. But I guess it’s how you grow up and what you are around most of your life.
Like Harley guys. They don’t like change and will pay a premium for yesterday’s technology.
It is actually an air clutch I don't care for them because if you lose air pressure then you're screwed You can't get it out of gear yeah you can float gears but it's not a good situation especially if you need to get out of gear to come out to a complete stop wasn't a wise decision on peterbilts very liner doing that and air clutch they should have done a hydraulic clutch instead
I believe it’s actually air assist, so if you don’t have air pressure, you can still push it in with the hydraulics, the air only makes it easier.
Clutch is hydraulic with air assit
Drove a 579, hate the dash and the curved windshield absolutely sucks in winter, can't keep it clean. Safety issue, in my opinion. I will take my 389 any day.
I like it 👍
The grill design is the same on the airfilter and exhaust shield.
Paper mill log truck, and city. 😊
So it’s a 389 with a 567 cab. Big deal.
Other than the hood, the rest of the cab looks very similar to an aero truck, kinda looks like they made an aero truck and but a square hood on it.
That’s literally all they did, took the 500 model cab/bunk and put a 389 hood with breathers and mirrors change and stacks, people act like this is the next revolution when it’s been around for a decade. They just talked crap about them or didn’t wanna look at them because they were aero slope hoods. But in reality it’s just copy and paste with slight modification. Only thing I would like to see is now they could potentially put the extended hood on an ultra loft bunk since it will literally be all same production models
Cool.
I love me a long nose truck with a Volvo window🤣😭
It’s actually hydraulic and air assisted
Its nice i just cant get on board with that windshield also inside is terrible imo
A legendary truck such as this deserves its own cab not a borowed cab from one that has been in production for 15 years And called new. Should have taken the 389 cab made it bigger and stronger with more solid doors while keeping basic design. Àn insult to call this a new truck..just a bunch of current production parts put together The Paccat engine is basically a little motor trying to do the job of a big motor. The Cummins despite it's problems walks all over it.
Sharing parts is a cost saving measure.
Unfortunately the manufacturers can't cater to OO's anymore.
I saw a JB hunt peterbuilt today for the 1st time.
What's the world coming too?
No split windshield but 3 piece rear windows?
Thanks, but no thanks, I'll just keep rebuilding my 94 379 for as long as I can. I owned and ran a 06 379, absolutely loved it, unfortunately in August of 22 it burned down completely, i ended up buying a 23 389, ran it for about five months and sold it, between emissions, and electronic controls, it just wasn't the same as older 379s i had. Once 389 was sold i got back in 94 379exhd with all mechanical c-model cat and absolutely love it. Btw i have to give props to pdi, i bought their add a turbo kit and installed it myself in two days at my house, extremely well fitted kit! Truck does run like an animal, especially after getting deleted, but i still won't trade for my ole girl 😉
Well we all now what’s going on now amber try not to murder him😂😂😂 and nice air clutch
Other than the cab and interior it's OK I guess
dayum
I just dont lilke the plastic interior. I know the 389 had a lot of plastic. BUT. This one looks like a cheapie toy. And I miss the old switches. I drive an '18 T800 and its got toggle switches similar to this, and I much prefer the feel of the old school long style switches. I dolike that they kept the style of hood. i do miss the look of the rivets, but people can customize their own trucks to look that way again. I do kinda like the windshield. But the look of the split sheild does look better, and easier to squeegie, but thats okay. All in all I think they did an okay jod. im just not a fan of the look / feel of the new interiors of the petes and KW's. I think they look and feel cheap, I cant explain it well. Other then that I feel like they did a good job with it.
