Big Thanks to Peterbilt for putting on such an awesome event to showcase the new Peterbilt 589!! We are happy to show you the new trucks up close.
Looking to buy a new or used truck be sure to check out our dealerships.

Looks way better than I thought it would. Still like the 389’s long hood. But the 589 isn’t bad. Main thing is it not electric.
They are offering a long and short hood
the hood length is still the same!
@@TheRoadhammer379 so a 567......
Oh we build electric ones too
Yes it is. If It’s automatic.😂
Congratulations Peterbilt, you just killed a legend! Turing to replace it with a printed legend, your paid people saying how much better it is than the 389, the roomy cab, oh that is better, no, we like the 389 cab. We like the low roof in the 389 cab, we like a straight hood nor a slope wedge shaped hood like on the Western Stars 4900EX .
I actually like the 589. It looks nice. They didn't take all the classic 389 look for it. You can still customize it and have the classic look. Seems like less gauges on the dash also
Put the money up ⬆️
I have never seen Peterbilt push so much BS to try and convince Owner Operators that the new equipment is superior to the previous model. Its not superior, and it damn sure isnt "legendary" what an absolute joke
Why does it look like a 389 hood with a 579 cab and sleeper
Because that's what it is.
@@CACressidayou beat me to it.
It is the 579 cab entirely. It uses w900 style stepboxes, the only 389ish aspect is the square shape of the hood.
Definitely but it's cool thou
Cant wait to drive this in American Truck Simulator.
Not bad but the windshield and doors look goofy
Still a better update than the W990
@@Rocking_B I agree
Aero cab
Why is anybody comparing this to a Kenworth a pile a crap
@@jjbigiron because both the 589 and the w990 are aerodynamic restyling of classic trucks
Now available in rainbow colors and budwiser paint themes
so its a gay truck?
Its a 567 with 389 hood and mirrors...way more interior room than a 389. Yes i drive a 567 and love it..
Like the 389 better
Amazing. "New" model with all proven stuff from the tooling and parts bins of W990s and 579's. Keep the 389 headlight buckets and fenders and everybody feels happy. Overcharge and reap the profits. Gotta' applaud the business model.
Great 👍Content and Thanx for Sharing your Experience 😊
Have a Great Day 👍
God Bless America 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
That flat top sleeper truck... Perfect!
Rides smooth quite, and its brand spanken new, re do that after 500k and see if it's the same
Hell of a lot better looking then the w990 horror show. Peterbilt needs to take lessons from freightliner and volvo on storage layout and room utilization. Went from an identical specd 579 as the truck in the video to a 388 single bunk with all the storage options available. 579 was jam packed everywhere and the 388 had vastly more use-able storage even with its older design. I do see they put the 388 hood on the 589, glad to see they kept that beautiful hood.
They are offering a long and short hood for the 589
@@TheRoadhammer379 The big bunk burgundy and black 589 in the video has the longest hood similar to a 389, the two tone brown truck has a regular length hood similar to a 388 and the daycab truck definitely has an even shorter hood. By the way, it's NOT a setback axle truck as the guy mentioned in the video.
They have their own style
So is it basically the w990 in Peterbilt form?
Nope the kw990 look more like a international than a KW this still looks like a Pete.
@@johntabolinsky828 theyre both made by PACCAR abd the cab shape is definitely the same as the W990 looks like a 389 hood on a w990 cab. Wouldnt be the first time theyve done iy
@@johntabolinsky828 the windshield and door looks like a international from a distance.
except Peterbilt tried much harder to keep their classic look with the new cab
You're going to have people that hate the truck like the 990 but I actually like this out of the gate.
The dash layout needs improvement needs the full gauge package kenworth dash is full of gauges peterbilt dropped the ball on that one nice set forward axle 579 I'm disappointed peterbilt I will never trade my 379 or my 386 for a 589.
Peterbilt and bud light must have teamed up together
Cry😂
😂😂😂
LMFAO 😂😂😂😂
Facts
i had a older 379 and this new truck looks awesome. finally i wont have to hit my knee on that steering column.
BEAUTIFUL LOOKING TRUCK ❤❤
I cant help myself, but that thing looks weird af. My heart bleeds when i think of the 389 not being continued. 😞 To me this looks like a w990 with a 389 hood and headlights.
The older trucks look much better
@@johanknelsen4482 agreed! Long live the 389 and Kenworth W900L!
A 579 with a square hood. Like a Freightliner classic and an FLD120, same truck, different hood and front axle placement.
Oh look it's AW990 with a Pete Hood
and you can't afford to chrome on
After what you guys do to these trucks its hard for Peterbilt to get a wow factor. 😅 I will wait to see what all you guys do to them.
The room between the seats is Awesome that's what I am Sold on
I am a huge Peterbilt fan I like the new 589 the only thing that would take some getting used to is the windshield it looks kind of odd if you're looking at it from the side and I think Peterbilt could have done more with the sleeper than use the ones from the 567 and 579 and stick them on the 589 but other than that it's a badass truck
Three of our 2023 389s have the one piece curved windshield, it's an option currently.
@@TheRoadhammer379 apparently it's been an option for awhile
It’s like a 389 drank a bud light Lol.
Love that day cab
Honestly I like it better than the Kenworth 990
Looks like somebody tried to jam a Pete hood on a Frieghtliner to me.
If that looks like a freightliner to you, you need both your eyes and your head examined. It's the 579 cab with a 389 style hood
Considering what they could have done I think they did well
Beautiful rigs sheeesh if I ever do my own thang as a owner operator instead of being a company driver def would get this or the 389
"It rides very smooth"! Your on a race track brah! Haul 78k gross down I70 east bound into Denver right lane for a real world test...
Not nad looking for the new pete! But i would rather stay with my 379, cat engine, 18 speed, and 3:55 rear ends!! The two piece windshield and the vents glass door are more cooler than the one piece.
I LIKE IT I LIKE IT THAT TRUCK ❤❤I WOULDN'T MIND HAVING A TRUCK LIKE THIS ONE
Peterbilt Ruined their Conventionals when they Started that Unibilt Sleeper Cab. Sadly, All truck Manufacturers have Fallen to built trucks for Morbidly Obese Drivers. That were not able to get in the Sleep from the Cab. I still run 38 of the 50 359's with 63" Flat top Sleepers. Yes Narrow Cab and Original Cab to Sleeper opening. Plus my Drivers appreciate the Paper Logs, NO DEF, No Computers shutting down the Engines because a Sensor failed. Just meticulously maintained 3406B Cats and 6x4 Spicer Transmissions.
What advantage do you get from not having the bigger sleeper opening? Just curious of why it was such a bad change to you. I run day cabs only, help me understand.
@@tommyw.9424 Peterbilt and the other Manufacturers were persuaded to make Larger Openings between Cab and Sleeper. As Drivers in the 1990's were becoming WIDER. They could not get in the Sleeper between the seats of Trucks. These days the Average Truck Driver is Obese to Morbidly Obese. And now the Cabs and Sleeper are One Piece and capable of the Average 400 pound driver to get into the Sleeper without making a tight balloon sound.
love the day cab
Well boys looks like Peterbilt is going to the left now like nothing looks as cool as a clean Peterbilt going down the road and now it looks like cartoon truck or a cheaper looking truck guess I just like old trucks way to much I rather have real gauges over a screen any day but to all you out there now on the road God bless you and thank you for everything you do for us more important then anyone could ever know hats off
I miss the 389 already
You guys bumped your head. 🤮🫣🤦♂️
Glad they finally put cup holders in trucks.
Personally it’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be. The windshield I’m not sold on but I remember back in 07 08 everyone said the headlights on a 389 looked horrible. Thank god it’s better looking than the 567 and the 579
The 389 headlights do look horrible. And they didn’t completely trash the interior on the 389. This thing is goofy
Interior isn’t bad looks great especially the sleeper area. Cabinets are much larger love it but; exterior should of kept it classic. Slit windows will always be classic. Interior I can understand with technology but should of kept classic outside
The shape of the side windows on the doors make it look like a model 567
Best thing they did, was to finally straighten the rivet line on the side of the hood.😊
It was always straight, the 389 always had a slight slope to the hood.
Each Peterbilt 589 comes with a 12pk of bud light as well 😂
I have quite a few questions, is cab plastic? Is the sleeper plastic? Can more gauges be added? Can you get 2 full doors with windows on sleeper? And rear window with smallest sleeper ? How much?
Yes the cab is plastic 🤦🏻♂️
Cab is made of aluminum, just like the old trucks, sleeper is a carryover from the old trucks, interior is plastic just like the old cab.
One of the test trucks had 6 gauges.
@@tommyw.9424 I didn't notice rivets
There's another video detailing the huck rivets in the cab and sleeper
Gorgeous truck!!!
Looks good.... 579 with 389 hood
The day cab looks pretty sharp
I’d still would like to see you customize a 567 forward axle.
Hello 👋 Hey Hi and Howdy Yall... Wow
. It is Awesome , buy I'm still blown away they stopped production of the 359 , 379 , and 389s
Cleveland Tenn Waivin a Hand
Painted hood guides.....ARE YOU SERIOUS?????.......ok, that's it.....I'm ordering 10
Do they come with a cummins engine aswell?
Yes
Let the build wars begin. 😎🏴☠️
I didn't like it at first but after a couple of bud lights it's starting to look good
Bud light 😂😂
@@gustrujillo1731 you look like you need to drink a few buD lights
@@jakebrake1326
No thanks. I prefer Coors light
@@gustrujillo1731 then shut up about it
Try a different beer, it will look 1000x better.
The 589 looks okay from the outside except the door handles and windshield. Little classic look. The inside is a disaster. Didn’t make no effort making it look good. Paccar engineers just threw 567 model look. Should of made all gauges. With all gauge is easy to see any problems right away. Looks like a cockpit. Now looks like a car mini cockpit. small digital screen to scroll when I pull over. Bet there no value because it’s not a traditional classic rig. Hope you guys try to upgrade by changing that digital screen to full analog gauge or a big screen with all visual gauges. 389 rocker switches. You guys are awesome Sami Casual. Keep on making 389 look good.
Hi guys,.As far as test drives go, it would of been great to be able to get out of your bottom box, I appreciate the fact that the so call test track wasn't all that great. It will be good to see how she handles with gear changes around the 22 hundred rev range, and sitting at 70mph.Not to mention with a load behind her. Does she come with a choice of power plants? Thanks for your videos, more than often, they are informative, cheers.
Nice looking Riggs
Nice truck, but I'd still prefer the split front windshield, cheaper to replace half than the full windshield and with the gauges and levers gone of the dash is going to require some getting used to
That dark dash and guages in the daycab would look real good in the big sleeper truck. Them are good looking trucks, hopefully they have lots of room to move the seat way back without hitting the cabinet in the bunk
im a fan of the dark dash too, i think it just looks better than the wood grain
379 6nz will still be rolling long after that 589 is done.
Best combination planet Earth has ever known 😂😂😂
if i could id buy one i like the look of it
Guess I've got to see it in person but I'm still torn. I read something about all this effort they put into it, I think that might have come down to somebody saying we could just take that 579 cab and slap a longer hood in front and only have to build the one cab. We'll slap a classic paint scheme on it and that will help. I will never like that huge one piece windshield.
Of course it's going to feel smooth driving it on a perfectly smooth race course, any truck will.
this truck is perfect for aggregate hauler
Windshield and door blow.
First the hoods got wider from the 379 now the cab has gotten wider from the 389 , They blew it up😮
The smaller cabs are better.
When I buy my 589, I'll have you guys customize it for me
Looks like a pretty decent truck but at least they kept the standard look of a pete and they had there work cut out for them the 389 is a hard one to beet
Very nice looking trucks. I drive a daycab for a crane rental company in Houston.
I didn’t like that the DEF tank on the right side, and the fuel tank looked like maybe a 60 gallon tank.
Does peterbelt offer a extended cab ? That would be a nice then, so you could lay the seat back some and it would also give you more storage room.
I like the where the wood grain is compared to my 579 🤔
Sleeper looks good Do you not like the dash in the gear shifter that’s what I look like a Peterbilt Volvo or freightliner
It would look a whole lot better with a real visor - the visor looks flimsy and cheap. I would also change the headlights to classic round lights - haven't trucked since 1993 before i went into the Navy so not sure what DOT rules are now. looking forward to seeing you customize one.
In cab is almost identical to the 579. Windshield is also one whole piece of glass.
I WOULDN'T MIND HAVING A PETERBILT
So has the 589 gone the way of the the 579 with a non-functioning driver’s side stack?
All of the test trucks have functioning dual stacks.
The fride mounted up higher was a big plus in the 389. It makes it easier to see what you have and make lunches. I'll stick with the 389 instead.
I drove a 2020 579 day cab. Its the same dash set up and cab. This isn't an "Improvement" its just cutting cost of production. They should just call it the 579 long hood.
No more having to adjust the mirror brackets to change out the breather filters. Will these new mirrors allow you to adjust them up and down as well as left and right? It’s hard to see the trailer tires with the current mirrors. Will this have wrap around curtains or normal 389 curtains? Nice new piece for the inside fender splash guard. Wonder if these mirrors whistle? Looks like we no longer have to deal with the leather on the door becoming unglued. Can not wait to see one in person.
So this is a 567 with an aluminum hood? Is there any difference?
IF I HAD A TRUCK LIKE THAT I WANT A SLEEPER ON IT❤❤
Wait till you get to drive one in gravel with potholes and ruts. They ride really really smooth off-road as well as on road
I love the new Peterbilt 589
Well that's the end of an era...now both KW and Pete have killed their true classics...both have gone dork and woke. After 46 yrs in the business I'm glad I'm done.
Why everything have to be able wokeness in everything nowadays? Wokeness has nothing to do with the design. No offense
So it looks like a 389 style hood on a 579 cab?
Isn't the cab/ interior the same as a 579?
Yup
Man! Simple, elegant, pristine 💯🎯🫡
Its clogged up with emissions though, right?
But it's the 567 with the square hood. Why do we need that thing?
Yeah, when you bounce out the seat, you get a bigger opening to hit your head.
As a car hauler owner op, I would have wanted to see you guys drive the flattop....
The cab actually has some room in them. I see the hood still rattles
Do you get this truck in a right hand drive?
Looks like a big volvo
They ruined it with the door windows, they don't match the body lines
Going catch a lot of drag between the tractor and the trailer .
These dudes actually look happy to drive an automatic talking about how quiet it is. God almighty...
What do yall think about the new Mack trucks EV
Peterbilt isn't stupid, they had a winner with the 389, they aren't going to make any drastic changes.
So no more rivets?
