Hi Dr Berg, I used Melatonin supplements & Cherry Tarte while caring for my aged Mother who suffered from Alzheimers, Uterine Cancer, High blood pressure, put her on Keto & made her walk everyday in Sunshine. When I took over her Care I was told she had 3months to live - she survived a further 5years. She regained her memory, stopped suffering from 'Sundowners syndrome & went into remission as well as normalizing her Blood pressure. I totally agree with your summation & Thankyou for putting this out there.❤

@CindyD • Hi Cindy, I excluded all bread, carbohydrates (except natural found in vegetables), all sugars including natural sugars like honey & fructose (found in fruit) & limited her carbs to 30% of her diet, increased her Fat (coconut oil & Macadamia oil I found the best as advised by Dr Gundry) intake to 40% & increased her Hydration by using the H202 protocol so her hydration levels didn't drop below 99%. I gave her high doses of Vitamin C, 1000mg a day, Magnesium 500mg (find the 1 for Brain function), Complex Vitamin B, Folic Acid & Omega 3 & 6. Vitamin C breaks down the B Complex which absorbs the Folic acid into the blood stream. I made her a Vegetable shake every morning consisting of organic Kale, Spinach, 1/2 an apple, cucumber, celery, tumeric, cinnamon, parsley, corriander, strawberries & blue berry's blended with coconut milk & cream. This helped regulate digestion, energise her for walking, clean out her Bowel, allowing much better Brain function. We walked every day for 1/ an hour morning & afternoon (she was a very sedantary person prior to my taking over her cares) This helped her sleep in conjunction with the Cherry Tarte & Melatonin supplement. I researched alot of information from many different Doctors & never instigated a new protocol without trialing it myself. I wish you all the very best Cindy, what you are doing is commendable, honorable & extremely important for both of you - it's also alot of hard work. I hope this information helps you on your Care giving journey & anyone else who needs it - Good Luck.

You need to check Walter Pierpaoli's work on melatonin. Melatonin declines rapidly past puberty, and it appears to boost production of several positive hormones while inhibiting excess negative hormone production. Think it also helps stop prostate tissue growth and breast tissue growth while also having anticancer activity(for nightly doses, iirc). Things like the abnormal prostate growth experienced by most men with aging could in part be due to the vast declines in melatonin production

I have been on a low dose of melatonin since 1988. In 1988 I went to a sleep clinic and they found that I had a sleep apnea. I don't remember now what I read then that clued me into using it (sleep apnea research had just started then), but I've taken low doses ever since. I currently take 1 mg Melatonin per day. When I started taking melatonin 5mg tablets were available. I found that I woke up groggy and eventually found that I wouldn't wake up that way by keeping my dosage lower, 3mg works well also. Dosage and timing are important. I don't want to over-medicate. I take the melatonin about 30-45 minutes before going to bed. To get the best results you may need to make adjustments. I don't know how the "red light therapy" works for me.

Dear Dr berg, while you recommend NOT taking Melatonin supplement because it prevents the pineal gland from producing it, you still recommend food that has Melatonin to help boasting it i.e. mushrooms, eggs, fish, nuts etc.
    Here is my confusion and Dilemma;
First, Why would a melatonin supplement stops the pineal gland from producing it while food rich in melatonin doesn't?
Second, Isn't the most important reason for taking Supplements is the fact that we believe that the soil being depleted NO longer give plants and animals what we think should be there? i.e vitamin C in an orange is not what it used to be hundred years ago.
Third, Applying you logic for not taking melatonin supplement because it prevents the gland from producing it, we should also stop taking vitamin D supplement, because studies found that 30 minutes of midday summer sun exposure was equivalent to consuming 10,000-20,000 IU of vitamin D, Therefore taking Vitamin D supplement can either overload the body or prevent the natural process of the Sun interaction with the cholesterol in the skin cells to produce Vitamin D.
    Just some remarks. Regards

Could you please do a video on fibromyalgia and sleep/melatonin. I'd love to get more sleep but the pain keeps me up/wakes me up. I'm also highly allergic to mushrooms. What supplements could help. I'm also 57 so I'm older. I've had fibro for nearly 25 years so I've been sleep deprived for a quarter of a century.

I had some condition never correctly diagnosed that gave me severe leg cramps for many years, went to many doctors no one could find what it was. I don’t usually have them now but if I take melatonin, I’ll have a huge leg cramp that same night. Whatever it is, it flares up with melatonin.

Take Potassium & Calcium with Magnesium & drink a lot of water.
It's great for relaxing muscles, our diets are lacking in these elements.
I've been using them after my doctor told me about it, for my muscles spasms as well.

Great video doc, I am a 28 year old male, i have
noticed that I always wake up tired.
I bought one of those smart watches that monitor
sleep and lo and behold, my sleep did turn out to be
    mostly light sleep.
Only 20% is deep sleep, the rest is split up between
    REM and light sleep.
I have used 1 0 mgs of melatonin before, and
noticed that when I take them for a while, I feel my
sleep is better, never tried it with this smart watch
though, I have a question however, do you think it
would be wise to up the dose? I am thinking that if I
increaee it my sleep would be better.
I am also considering making my wife use it for her
    hashimoto's.
    Since it is anti-inflammatory .
    Any ideas about that?
    Thanks

I'm taking melatonin now as even this video recommends it as an anti-cancer supplement (and I do have cancer). Seems like looking at your list that there are quite a few people who could benefit from it for several different reasons. Not sure if I'm taking enough. Had been doing this since Guy and Fred had it in their protocol.

L Theanine is quite good for sleep though.
Also Mugwort and other herbal teas can help.
