Weirdly, after collecting Casio & Gshocks for years, I've just purchased my first AE1200 Royale. I love it. Not so sure about this one, though, but appreciate that it's a part of watch making "history" I do agree with you that for the price tag Sapphire and 100 meters would be more appropriate. Great review, as always !!!
Good choice on the AE-1200, I'm wearing my one with the bracelet. Yes I agree with you about the sapphire and 100m, then it would be just right.

Well it's sold out worldwide, so looks like it's a collector's piece now. Clearly, people liked it at the premium price.

The Casiotron's price was too high for my liking, so I bought a A171 for under £30 😁

I think I would try carefully cutting out some silver vinyl rap and putting it inside an A1700, before I would spend that kind of coin on digital watch, with a rather small display.
Too shiny in my opinion and worth under 120$ but like it

I love the look of the Casiotron but that price is way too spicy for me to think about. I’ve got my A171 to scratch the Casiotron itch for me but for someone who loves Casio and has the money in their watch piggybank then there’s loads to love here!

Great video and love the passion!! Would have been nice if it was sapphire. I get it, limited anniversary edition driving the price up, but even if they changed another $50 for sapphire would be worth it.
Secondary comment. I have a solar Bluetooth full metal CasiOak, and live in Australia where we don’t get multiband 6, so using the Bluetooth to keep my time synced is a must.

No, no, no and no! If you told me it was £100-200, I'd get my head around it, but not at that price. Obviously we all knew you'd buy it, love it and keep it mate. It's much, much better than the PRX - so that's something, isn't it?
Lol buddy the Bluetooth is a horrible, useless feature. That really shouldn't be losing more than a second a month. My f84w actually hasn't lost a second in a year❤

I got it for $899 Australian dollars. I lucked out with a discount I had from their site. It sold out in a few hours. A must-have for any Casio fanboy. Now a Collectors item.
If you can sing the praises of this watch then the Tissot prx digital is no different. I’ll grant the Casio has more features but the design is near similar.

@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I watched and all good points. I've fallin' in the camp of not liking the design. So, maybe I should take a, "If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all" approach.
They did a fantastic job on this release but I do wish they hadn't made it a limited edition. It just encourages the flippers. They're already all over ebay. The usual nonsense. As far as the App goes, the one feature that;'s very useful is the time sync. For those who dont have access to atomic time servers
Received mine today here in Mumbai, India, and cannot hold myself back from looking at it over and over again - beautiful design, stellar display and awesome bracelet - it's all there. As a Casio fan, and a watch collector, I couldn't be happier! The best digital watch money can buy. Period. This is made in Japan bottom up, and the build quality completely justifies the price.
I like Casio because they are “inexpensive” the other day I was at the mall and saw a G-Shock for $900. I don’t understand who’s buying a $900 Casio? To me you’re better off buying a Hamilton for that price. Casio needs to stick to what they are good at. Inexpensive watches.
But some people want the iconic design in a more premium stainless build.

I picked up the DW5040 recently and it is now one of my favorite watches in my collection. I cannot stop looking at it. If you are thinking about getting one...go for it!!!

@@roodersclive8654 The gold sunburst display is like nothing else. It is mesmerizing. I can't stop looking at it. The brick motif is also fantastic. The fact it also has the electroluminescent backlight makes it very unique. There are others that have the stainless steel case and caseback but none have that display, brick motif and EL backlight. Oh that gold sunburst display!

The answer to "why no sapphire" is "because these are selling at lightspeed anyway", but I sure wish it had a sapphire crystal.
None available in OZ 😢 (sold out). May have to go international to grab one (at a considerably higher price, about $2000 AUD)

The price is fair for a limited edition collector. For the features, obviously not. If they made a similar watch at a non-collector price point, they might have a winner because it is refreshingly retro.
Congrats on getting one of these Russ! When I saw this watch was being offered I thought of you and how I knew you'd want one. I think it is very iconic and I'm glad your wife liked it!

I gave in and bought a "bigger small" Casio, the W800 . Opened the box and decided it would only be big on a small hobbit
.. at least it was cheap. Back to GShock for me.
When I saw the price of this, I really wanted to dislike it...But I love it, looks like it'd be a decent addition to the collection
Casio have definitively shown Tissot (everyone) how to make a digital watch.
My dad inherited me the original one, and that one I never wear. I love it as a keepsake, but somehow I always find better watches to wear. Maybe not my cup of tea, but I found an F91 display much more pleasing with a form factor that's much less blingy.
This was made available yesterday in the Canadian market and is still available. Surprised as it sold so fast in the UK market.
The budget Casio is more attractive than the limited edition.

Looks great but I couldn't justify the price of admission even if I could get hold of one. Shall make do with my black A171 (with the hair friendly mesh strap) for Casio roundness.

Worth noting that the original Casiotron you showed in 1:06 is actually not the original version that this new re-issue is based on. That's the second generation with "liquid crystal" written on the dial. Whereas the original released version looks very close to the re-issue (similar dial colour)

For that price you can get MULTIPLE TIMES the ORIGINAL one from 1974.......
casio has to calm down with their limited series, this should be 150-200 at maximun and not like 500
I have yet to see any other watch with these specs for less. All steel digital watches with solar atomic sync pretty much don't exist, the only one I know of is the full metal square, which costs more. Even analog solar atomic watches list for more.
@@lookatwrist You can get an eco-drive, which handles the "solar" part for less - lol. But adding in automatic time keeping as well is just awesome. Accuracy is always +/- 0 seconds a day :) As you would expect of Casio's flagship model. Seiko makes something similar but it's.. $650. Mind you, I think it's amazing and worth the money compared to the Casio, but yes, this technically IS the least expensive solar/radio watch currently on the market. Or WOULD BE if it wasn't limited and scalpers got to it first.
I bought a Casio square last year to try to understand the fascination by so many with the brand. I still don't get it.

Yeah, I am a bit too old to have done that. My dad wore Seikos in the late 60s and 70s and most of my watches as a teen were hand me downs from him. @@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR
The first Casio i owned i bought in 1978, digital of course,it looked as my memory recalls tho more like the A171 ! Am i tripping? Was there a Casio resembling the a171 in the 70's that wasn't the casiotron? F**k please help me on that one,o bought the a171 because that's the one I think 🤔 i remember! But now I'm not sure.

Silly money. In comparison...just bought at GPW 2000 gravity master for 250 GBP. That's got GPS..MB6 and Bluetooth plus 200m of WR..and it's the master of G line. People just gonna flip these and try and double their money
This DIGITAL watch for 500 pounds is proof that Casio thinks a fanboy cross-section of customers are marks. Sell a DIGITAL F-91W for 20 pounds and, at the same time, a 1 of 4K “Limited Edition” DIGITAL for 500 pounds, for what, nostalgia? Casio, sorry, you’re just milking people’s good will for money
I don’t care how much I like any brand, if you overprice your product, I’m not buying it. The Tissot PRX Digital is such a deal for 1/2 the price of this Casio, shame on them.

It's a cool watch, but the over priced, limited edition, FOMO, hype marketing is out of control. I'd like to see a simplified, non-limited version for about the price of the A1100.

Hmmm I already own the two ultra premium Casios... a1000 and a1100. They are also priced far more reasonably than this😅 you are strictly paying for the 1of4000
If this had been even $175 I would have wanted one, but yeah couldn't justify it for what they asked. It's cool though. More power to anyone who got one.
Same problem as with so many Casios. They're great - but just too small for my 7" wrist! Why is Casio keeping them kid-size?? And this one is waaay overprized - don't like that Casio tries to enter the speculation market with a limited overprized remake.
Happy with my PRX digital, this is low-spec hot mess! A flip opportunity for the scalpers, price is now £1,000. Just ridiculous hype.
That’s almost as good as a PRX! The water resistance lets it down a bit but they’ll get it right next time. Just kidding, I love this watch. I also love my PRX digital but that’s ok, there’s space for everyone. 😊
They’re honoring their history. I get it. But…yeah…it is as visually unappealing as the PRX digital. For the same reason - the whole “square peg in a round hole” theme. If it makes you happy, though, then wear it and enjoy it!
It's cool... I don't mind the WR at 5 bars. It's not a diver. I get it's a limited release and pricey... but mineral glass? Come on Casio.
I like the idea of Bluetooth. Trump's been threatening to shut down the towers in Fort Collins, so waveceptor only doesn't factor in to my buying until he goes away.

Shockingly expensive for what looks like a cheap watch. Casio has a non limited model, without solar in their vintage range for nigh on 1/10th of this price. For the money a Hamilton bond psr looks way better.
Premium Casio 😂 honestly no harm meant but that is a £100 watch max. I personally wouldn’t pay £50.

It's gorgeous, but it's way too small for my 8+ inch wrist. An F91 looks bloody daft on me, if I could get away with one I would have bought one
This watch looks great and the first I like enough to buy...But can't. And the PRX rant was spot on. That digital prx was and still is a massive joke. And you can see how much better the prx would have looked if they did more on the dial like the cassio
It's a great size, that's about the only thing I like about this watch (sorry).
Actually, the build quality/materials are very nice too.
