That's why she will be the sleeper of this draft or next year's draft. She is a true point that can read the floor and set up the offense. She is a true extension of a coach. And adding the fact that she can rebound and is lockdown on defense makes her a better asset than half these players on this list.
Raven added a 3pt shot, naturally has long arms and has full confidence of her coach with the ball in her hands. I know the scouts is watching. This tournament should boost her to a early first round prospect. Or they might find out after her rookie season.
Paige is a true point the problem is Uconn has 3 PGs and the other two do not have her size so she is basically playing point forward. If you don't think she is a PG go look at her freshman tape when she won this award . I am surprised Hidalgo is not on the list though, but per 40 min her assists are down this year with Miles back (4.3 per 40 min / Paige is 5.8 per 40 min) - But I do think Hidalgo is a POY candidate her ball defense, scoring, and rebounding for tiny guard is just nuts.
@leiannb.wrytes8893 This is turning out to be a Hella year for NCAAW basketball! There are going to be some great games going down the stretch. Obviously, I'm a huge ND fan, and we're finally healthy after almost 2 years😊
She is naturally it’s just she’s not in Genos system for whatever reason, I don’t think she should win this award tho Idk why he would submit her and have her play off ball
She is a true point - look at her freshman season when she ran the point full time and won this award. The issue is Geno wants the best 5 person combination on the floor that means that Chen or KK who do not have the size play small forward are made to run the point even though Paige is the best PG. Despite basically playing a small forward half the time she leads Uconn in assists.
Her Freshman campaign says otherwise. She was POTY her freshman season as PG. The only freshman to do it. Where do y'all get yall information from. That's why people need to know Paige is a DAWG and lightyears better than Clark. They were freshmen together, and Clark did not come close. Yet people keep hollering Clark better and all this other hype. Y'all need to watch the game and ignore the media hype. If Paige hadn't gotten injured Clark would be an afterthought because the media loved what Paige was able to do on an ELITE UCONN team and schedule, and constantly bashed Clark & IA for the level of competition. That's why Paige was the only NPOY as freshman.
Hannah should be a sweep for all awards….she embodies everything this award lists as a qualification…they know she the POY so leave sumthin for others..I guess
I find it interesting they have Pao Pao in there an no Raven Johnson and Milaysia Fulwiley. All three are techinically point guards I guess, but Pao Pao is known for being a consistent 3 point threat with sprinkles in the mid range. While Johnson epitomizes pg and Fulwiley is the take over the game player who plays PG. PaoPao is a more than capable PG. But SC has 4 point guards, and it makes sense since they have a HOF PG coach.
Yup, when she got off to a slow shooting start to the season they couldn't wait to jump all over her because she was projected as a 1st round draft pick after she shut Caitlin down. Had them all about to jump off a cliff. Pao has been off behind the arc this season compared to last season but no one has her falling in the draft. Raven is clearly a better point tha pao but yet she is on this list.
For me this is a 3 person race Paige, Miles, and KiKi Rice and Miles has a slight lead over Paige. All are on top 10 teams all are very efficient. If you look at PER 40 min states Paige is the leading scorer, has the fewest turnovers, and is the best 3pt shooter. Olivia is the assist leader which is important, Kiki is sort of in the middle in both scoring and assists and is on the #1 team. As a WNBA prospect Paige is probably the best of he 3 players but she like miles is not the only PG on her team. However for the first time in her career UConn has depth and her min played are the lowest they have ever been and she lets Chen and KK run the point more than she does (she is just so good she leads the team in assists without playing point.) However, most voters do not look at PER 40 min stats they look at per game stats (and sometimes that is more important if a player is more crucial to success of the team night to night.) So I think if I gave the award for top PG tonight it would go to Miles. That could change as we get into March if Uconn decides to make its offense more Paige focused. Paige Per 40 26.4 pts, 5.8 AST, 5.9RB, 2.8 Stl, only 1.8 turnovers. Miles 19.3 pts, 7.7AST, 6.9RB, 1.7 stl, just 3.0 turnovers, Kiki per 40 20.0pts, 6.7 AST, 5.5RB, 2.4 STL, just 2.3 turnovers. All 3 are crazy efficient with over 60% effective field goal percentage - If I was picking player of the year (from these 3, though there are other contenders for that also) it would be Paige - she is also the best defensive player of the 3, but this award is for PG and right now Paige is playing more of a point forward. So Again I would give it to Miles who leads in min per game at 34.0 (Paige is 28.6, Kiki is 26.3) - now Name recognition and the Uconn factor could play a role if it is really close - it should not but sometimes it does.
Here's my probem, I'm sure Quita doesn't mind organizing things, but a glaring deficiency in society is people dependence on others to provide them with information. Look it up yourself so you can know for yourself. No knock on Quita, but everything she says is not always right. We all make mistakes and 1 mispoken word changes everything. These types of things is why society is heading in a downward spiral, you got highly opinionated people confusing it as fact and no one reads for them selves. When someone asks me in person what something says that is printed, I simply respond, "Can you read?" Stop being lazy because I can unintentionally add or miss a word and that blunder changes everything. Please, stop being lazy and look it up. But we prioritize mess and stuff aint none of our business.
Quita, you've got to be fair about HVL. You kind of said it, but you said she's getting back to her old play at Louisville. Acknowledge her as a SG that wanted to learn PG at LSU. Looking a disaster at the time paid off a season later. LSU was the wrong place for her to perform effectively because of its star power. The talent demanded a seasoned PG in that spot. She did ok at times, but when things got tight, she crumbled. It bothers me that HVL said from her own mouth the reasons why she chose LSU, and idiots still blame Mulkey. Blame Mulkey now for improving and expanding her game, but nobody will.
She had a bad game last week with 7 turnovers. Had 8 assists with only 1 turnover against Iowa State. She averages 2.6 turnovers a game, which ironically is the same amount Olivia Miles averages. Miles has more assists, but Hailey scores more. Her numbers say she should get drafted. Still there is a stigma with her I guess. 🤷🏾♂️
I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of lazy votes for Bueckers for this, AA teams, and PoY awards. And even knowing it's going to happen, it's still going to annoy me greatly.
Was reading an ESPN article the SKY have the Phoenix #1 pick next year --with that pick they also have swap rights with the SUN that means they get which ever pick is best between Phoenix and the SUN. If the SUNs rebuilt roster does not work well the SKY may get another very high pick.
If Rori belongs on this list then Lucy Olsen certainly should be on it. Rori Harmon shooting is worse then Olsen and she has a far better supporting cast. Also, McDermott should be on this list. They clearly don't know what they are doing when it comes to picking who's who.
Sky fans go watch Gianna kneepkens, she is better than Citron offensively and good defensively. Gianna can create her shot's too unlike citron Sky should take her and shyanne sellers

HVL is righting the ship. Meaning where she messed up was leaving Louisville for LSU. Her season at LSU was an utter embarrassment. She didn't fit in Kim Mulkey's system at all. IMO Kim Mulkey is not a player development coach at all. You will leave her team the way you came in. If you improve it won't be anything Kim did for you. But now Hailey has a great fit with TCU. Her coach has helped her recover from the LSU year and she is going to excel in the WNBA. Yes, I'm a fan and I'm very prejudice toward HVL. So, take my comments accordingly.
@ I can’t imagine HVL not getting drafted however it is the W. She’s the pg on the #9 team. They just won without Prince. Like I said, I’m a fan so my judgment is clouded.
@@KentuckyRick62Hailey should be drafted or at least given a shot to make a roster. I keep hearing how Sania Rivers, who can't shoot a lick and is not a very good point is projected to go late 1st, early 2nd. If she gets drafted and HVL doesn't, I really have to question these gm's.
Going to LSU actually helped her. Look at HVL stats at Louisville vs now. Her assists are way up and turnovers down. She can get her teammates better involved. Can't get caught up in stats, especially when she played only PG at LSU.
@ No, respectfully disagree on that call. Is she better as a 5th year than she was as a Junior at Louisville? Absolutely, but LSU was a major set back to her career. I was there man, watched her play live at Louisville. Is LSU a better school that supports women’s basketball? 100%. I wish her all the best but she was chasing a championship. Bad decision for her.

I’m going for Olivia Miles Thanks for the breakdown 🩷🏀
I"m very impressed by Te-Hina Paopao. She can do both really well.
Tehina does play the pg position, Paige is really a sg that’s why Geno brought in Chen to play pg, he also has KK.
I watched her two games against Iowa and Iowa State. I like her shooting form
I thought Tehina was a point guard. She played point at Oregon and also does it sometimes for South Carolina
She's a combo guard. But Raven is the true point guard.
She is a combo guard which means she occasionally plays point but my point is Raven is the best point guard on SC.
Raven shut down Caitlin, so you all know, she will never get the respect no matter how well she plays.

The definition of PG has changed. It's now: Shooting guards that facilitate. Emphasis on "Shooting" guard.
Caitlin (Paige) was the favorite to win the award when the season began. I think it will go to Notre Dame's Olivia Miles.
Conlanding. Your too funny🌺
Please don't sleep on Harmoni Turner. She can definitely ball!
YOUR ROCK QUITA TYSM
Geno and his system held Paige back.
I vote Amoore. She just completely has her way most of the time.
Pao poa is playing pg more so than Paige. But I agree that raven should be in the list.
