I think that an incentive for Kelsey Plum to want to stay with the Sparks for longer than a year is the fact that she's close to home. She's from Poway, a suburb of San Diego which is approx. an 1hr and 45 min drive from LA.

Social media is a weird world. Some people are high profile enough that their posts could realistically be believed to cause harm to the institution or company they work for. Quita, I appreciate you highlighting players that get over looked by others. But I do want to clarify something. Lauren Betts was not getting any preseason hype for player of the year. It’s only been recently that her name has been included. She’s had some national tv exposure, and the announcers have realized how much she affects the game on both sides of the ball. But this is all fairly new. She didn’t come into the season with any hype. And for good reason. She didn’t throw down 51 against Tara’s Stanford team like Juju did as a freshman. Juju earned the attention and Hannah showcased her talent early in the season in national TV. Paige was considered the #1 WNBA draft pick based on her career, so that’s why she was a top consideration for player of the year, before the year even started! But now we’re halfway and more players have Emerged. We’ll see what happens. Who votes? Is it media, fans, coaches, the NCAA committee?

Thank you for highlighting Latson. Before the season started, the media set it up as Paige and Juju. Hidalgo exploded and Notre Dame and Miles beat USC and UCONN. So now we get those four players. Even Lauren Betts is not getting enough attention (21 ppg and 10 rbg on 64% shooting) playing only 29 minutes a game which is less than all the other best players. It will take more last minute heroics from Latson to break through the already established media narrative.

I agree with you. I don’t thinks she enters the draft. With the players opting out of the CBA after the 2025 year I would encourage her to stay in school one more year to reap the rewards of the new CBA.
