Bake & Shark is as much about the condiments as it is about the ingredients for me. My go-to setup is: Shadon Beni Sauce, Tamarind Sauce, Pepper, Slight Mango Chutney & Fresh Cabbage Slaw. You get a bit of sweet and tart from the tamarind, nice Trini herb action with the shadon beni, a little heat from the pepper then a pop of freshness from the cabbage. Its' not too wet and mushy when you bite into it.
I am totally with you with the exception of the tamarind sauce... since I started getting older I have been stepping away from the sweet sauces
The bake and shake is sold on the beaches here in Trinidad 🇹🇹

They'll definitely be fiyah coming from there, buT truth be told here on the East Coast we've got places like this just as good anD oftentimes Better than T&T and I've literally even seen cuisine praised by a native Trini who said the exact samE thing! 😉

I lived in NY all my life. I know my way around the menu in a Jamaican spot but I would be lost in a Trini Roti Shop.. I really have little knowledge of their offerings besides a Chicken Curry Roti. I gotta explore more in Trini food. * thanks for confirming Craig was also Jamaican so I know he knows what Curry goat should taste like!
Trinidad curries are different from jamaica. You can tell he is familiar with the difference.

At first ordering the doubles was too much, but the shark was so good you went back for more! Gotta love it. Queens is far, but i might have to make the drive for that sandwich!

Bajan in DC and I am so jealous of the Caribbean food in NY. Unfortunately there are not many Caribbean food places in the DMV and we Caribbean peeps suffer here. There are some places but I terms of variety and flavor is not there. Now I want some bake and shark
True that. Somebody needs 2 make a list of all DMV Caribbean spots with the best food. I used 2 go 2 a spot in Langley Park but now live in No. Va. & it's work 2 find Trini/Jamaican food.
