The Highlands of Olympia in Wisconsin was also mislabeled as a landfill. All dirt, no garbage.

My local resort is perfect north in south east Indiana (im a season pass holder) .I was wondering this season how they managed to stay open at all this Dec with these frankly horrible conditions. Super interesting stuff this guy talked about. This channel is opening my eyes to the midwest community i never knew existed.
Still very excited to leave the midwest for my ski trip out west later this month... just to be clear 😁
Unrelated: very proud to say I've pulled a few friends into the sport this season. They've agreed to buy passes to our local resort next season.

Totally agree it's super fun to get friends out who are reluctant and back skiing. And doubling up, you can support Buck '54. It is an amazing apreski spot with a buddy. Get a night pass or a late pass, lap for a few hours, shut down the skiing and chill at the bar and enjoy watching the snowcats!

Hey great video man! I just wanted to point out something. Southern Wisconsin didn't have a tow rope for awhile but Northern Illinois did. The place was called Ragging Buffalo in Algonquin IL, maybe you have heard of it? All they had was 2 ropes and for awhile it was ONLY allowed for snowboarders, but did allow skiing later on. The closed recently but where probably one of the first places in the midwest to have a rope.

Great call! I remember it- I just never got to visit it, unfortunately, since I usually rode with my parents, who are skiers. Bummer because it looked awesome. I really wish the Chicago area still had something like that still (well, they have four-lake I suppose :)

Not a chance! I ski to enjoy the outdoors with friends in the winter. The Hamster wheel is the exact opposite.

Agree. I think being outdoors and social is 80% of skiing/snowboarding.
