I have skied all over the US-Southern and Northern Rockies, Sierras, Cascades, Vermont, Catskills, Alaska, Michigan UP, Michigan LP, Minnesota. Probably the two best ski days I have ever had were at Mount Bohemia and Big Sky. I have no problem with Mount Bohemia being ranked among the best in the US. It is totally unique. It’s an experience unlike anywhere. On the other hand, I have also skied at Lutsen. Other than Bohemia, it is great for the Midwest, but it does not in any way compare with even average ski areas in the Rockies, Sierras, Cascades, or the East. For example, would I rather ski Loveland or Lutsen? Smuggler’s Notch or Lutsen? It’s not anywhere near close.
You can get the vail/alta/palisades experience at almost any resort. You can only get the bohemia experience at bohemia. Watch the forecast and visit in a good LE cycle for an experience AND a value you cannot get anywhere else.
Are you serious? You can get the deep dry powder of Alta at almost any resort? You can experience skiing without snowboarders at almost any resort? You can land at a major airport and be at the ski mountain parking lot 30 minutes later at almost any resort? I have no doubt Bohemia is awesome for the midwest, but you would rather ski there than the 4100 foot vert tram at Jackson or ski the over 500 inches of cold smoke at Alyeska?
Things I have never heard in Colorado "The new chair reduces the poles and opens so much more terrain" Having grown up near a bunch of those mountains you covered and now living in Colorado, just pay for the flight and hotel and go out to Colorado or Utah and ski real mountains through May.
@@MidwestSkiers Ha! You just hit my bingo card of “Midwest skier”. Anytime someone asks me “which resorts have night skiing?” Most of the time they are also wearing the orange tint goggles.
I love Boho, but I wish they would invest in some snowmaking just to get a good base. I scratch up my board at least once a year because of low coverage patches.
Understand, but it would likely not change much regarding their gladed terrain since you can't blow snow in those areas. But ya conditions seem to be critical at Bohemia. Adding snowmaking adds A TON of overhead costs and would drive ticket pricing up across the board.

Matt, where can I get the gondola behind you in studio?
That’s from Menards. It’s called The Powder Ridge Ski Resort.
The weather outside is frightful
But getting colder would be delightful
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
😊
It's actually the IRRRB that owns Giants Ridge.
I can never remember the name/board, thanks!

Nah- I'd rather ski every night after work. You can keep your I70 traffic, lack of night skiing, and uppity attitude.

It is very hard to beat Alta snowbird for access access access. It’s like a 30 minute drive from the airport.

edit: now that I've watched you handled it pretty well. Nothing wrong with being proud of your region
Boho rules
Gonna hit Caberfae tomorrow, rain or shine!
Go get it! You'll have fun. I have never regretted a day of skiing, only the opposite.
Good luck
