It would be interesting to see this compared to what you can put together for the same price. £400 new starter set v £400 used kit thats 10 years old

The problem is, specially for beginners, they need some kind of knowledge. There are so many factors with a golfclub that which you can very easily overlook as a new player.
      And also the time investment.
Get a good starting point. Get a ton of lessons. And than, club for club, change them up for something second hand.
Once you replaced all your clubs, get a friend addicted :)

Used set probably wins if you shop around. There are some really great deals out there.

How does this compare to the Inesis 100 package set from 2020? Is the upgraded shaft to UST Mamiya and larger putter grip worth the price increase? The 7 clubs set from 2020 can be had for £179, while the 6 club set from 2023 is £299, almost +67% for 1 less club (PW), but includes a £65 bag and upgraded shaft... 🤔

I have the inesis 500 irons and rate them highly. I have been pin high from 190 yards with them more often than enough. 2 things that let decathlon down is the web site to find and buy items. Plus i bought the shorter irons at the time as the size chart had me in that section. So I had to pull all the shafts and find 3 Nippon shafts for the 5,6,7 and then move the all the shafts down.

My current bag is less than £400 but I’ve been very lucky….
    M3 driver £75
    Srixon Z H65 2 Hybrid £20
Ping G400 3 iron Crossover 🤷🏼‍♂️ it was in a “bag of old clubs” offered on a village buy and sell site for £30!
    Ping Zing Irons £50 5-SW
Ping Anser Wedges £40 (I’ve re built them)
Scotty Cameron Select Newport 3 £100!!
It’s a bag of randoms that just seems to get the job done.

Hey Simon, I'd rather buy older used with some life remaining than brand new cheap set.
Just picked up 2-Vokey's, 52*, 56*, in great shape $45. Quality equipment is out there guys.
      Thanks again SAS!!!
      All the Best!

Took me a moment to realise, but I guess Decathalon/Inesis have re-released the 100 beginners set because the set my wife has has the combo clubs for the half-set and worse head-covers. Bag was separate purchase. This looks to be an expanded club set and included bag for the money.

I have used the inesis 100 but the two in one irons I thought they were really easy and less to carry, but to be honest just look cheap, however the Ben sayers irons I thought were better to hit and yardage was better,
I wouldn't use any off the cheaper fairway woods or drivers as they sound dreadful.
    The hybrids are pretty good.
I still have both iron sets and use them as spare.
I use cobra KING SZ driver, 5 fairway wood and hybrid, but I use the MD super strong ST2 irons I think for my game do the job I put in cobra graphite shaft in them inch shorter than regular length, did all the Wtf And height, which has completely changed my game more consistent, oh and my age, range of mobility (shoulder) the list could go on lol😂.
I do think that all these package sets have all gone up.
So like you I always go down the second hand route, apart from my cobra Kings they were my little treat. Great woods there the only new set I have brought they were a game changer to be honest I hit the 5 fairway wood 225 average my go to club love it.
    Great video Simon

not a fan of the look of the irons on this set, look like sintered metal which is really off-putting to me. Curious how this would fair against a brand like wilson's box set. I know the deep red isn't a staff model but I am curious as they occupy a similar place in cost for a beginner set.

Not a fan of these irons, they look like a full set of those Square strike chippers. But Inesis have made a lot of decent clubs. I bought my son some of their junior clubs and they were perfect.
Edit: I made the chipper comment before I got to that part of the video😂

Do they have recoil shafts? Their previous models do, although not in a starter set.

    • @elzafir
      @elzafir 11 месяцев назад

UST Mamiya Recoil shaft are in the Inesis 500 clubs. This is the Inesis 100, they have a specially designed UST Mamiya 100, which I suspect is a rebranded the MP6 (their cheapest offering).

Great review...but in my experience even a high handicapper who is in the market to get a set is better off going for an older set of a premium brand. A twenty year old set of Callaway X14 with new grips is gonna do a better job...plus you ain't gonna get cained the first tee.😂

    • @elzafir
      @elzafir 11 месяцев назад

People say that, but how would you know exactly that a 20 yo set is better than a brand new cheap set? Brand name?

  • @TheOddSnake

Why did you chose to review the graphite versions of these clubs? Your swing speed obviously would require steel shafts, maybe then they wouldn't feel as "wippy", am I wrong?

Hey, enjoy watching your videos and admire your passion for golf & gear. Your narrative of 'whatever equipment does not matter to a high-handicapper / beginner' was a little repetitive / dismissive. While there is partial truth in what you are saying, we all know that golf is not all about performance. So much about this hobby is having nice gear hence your channels / videos and everyone who views all the golf gear content.
We all get that technique is more important than gear, but I don't think you should repeat the narrative that nice / quality / branded gears should not matter to someone with a high handicap and that a player is not worthy of buying nice equipment or getting fitted is a poor choice. Intuitively, if everbody lived and died by that philosophy, all the 10s and 100s of thousands of viewers would not be watching videos on golf gear.
Imagine someone genuinely asking for what gear they should buy, and the answer is, 'It does not matter because you're a beginner, and you should just go practice instead.' 1. They would not feel good 2. Multi-billion dollar golf industry would not exist. 3. This standard of 'ability' is subjective
I get your intentions that you don't want new golfers to waste money but it can come off as distasteful without context and high frequency

Cheap Chinese garbage. Buy a used set of clubs. Even like a 20 year old set of ping g2s or g5s. This looks like a set where the shafts will break. Then add on some kirkland wedges and you are good to go. Don't need to spend a lot to get some premium great clubs.
