I think a lot of guys in middle life have learned to keep silent about their feelings to keep the peace. It is incumbent on us to make sure we each feel SAFE. Respond from the wise mind. Do more listening than talking (boy do you learn about a person when you shut the heck up and let them do the talking !).

I definitely use feeling statements and authentically open up early on, but I will NOT be calling, texting and planning dates until I have an idea of what his intentions are. Thats just me.

There needs to be earned trust before speaking your truth. Otherwise you leave your self open to manipulation. In my opinion men want a woman who is everything, sensitive to THEIR needs, easy going, sexy and adds simplicity to their life. I don’t think men have the emotional intelligence or bandwidth to give a damn about someone else’s emotional baggage. Any sign of complexity scares the heck out of them. I’m just saying.

@@alikazan24lol! At least in the beginning. Or rather it takes a special man to want to help ease your emotional load. I’ve met one once. But it’s not fair to expect that from another person all the time anyway. I think our “baggage” Is for us to carry out unpack but it’s always nice to have good company while doing it. Anyway I agree with your statement

I have learned that you need to be careful who share your vulnerability and insecurities with as some men are literally incapable of being emotionally open - they are unconscious and closed off. I once did this on a first date and they guy was so emotionally closed off and it was actually sad - I mentioned the work of Brene Brown and vulnerability (he laughed at her video when I showed it to him). He is 48 years old and never married and now I know why. We never went out again.,

If a man really cares about you he will show his love in one way or another and you will know he is into you. Men who are "emotionally unavailable" might be just the ones that do not want to have a relationship with you. We women often stay with guys who don't have plans for the future with us and blame them they do not open up emotionally. Yes, there are men who are truly emotionality unavailable for different reasons....just make sure this reason is not you.

Got some good ideas. They do a lot when it comes to eating 🍽️ out and when we are out quite a bit. I think it’s good to get to pay here and there because it gives the signal that you want to be the star of the show. You can bring up the topics that you want to cover and casual conversations can start to show as much of them as the hard questions on the crucial dates. When he asks you out on a date, let him pay for you to go. If you ask him out and tell him ahead that you want to take him this time then he will know ahead and feel at ease.

I asked him why he stopped sending me emojis. He blamed me by saying it was me that "closed the doors", then he said he loved me. Newsflash! If you pass me over for another woman and you manipulate and objectify me to have a hot fantasy, YOU DON'T REALLY LOVE ME! The last thing he said was, "you can go sing Karaoke by yourself." Honey, it's none of your business who I "karaoke" with. 💅

I have a question; I know a very nice, highly educated gentleman who is my Facebook friend for about 7 years . We’re sometimes going out as friends. He finally opened up and told me that he really likes and respects me but he doesn’t want to hurt both of us, because his son has drug problems for about 12 years and has borderline personality, he told me that he feels obligated to take care of him . His son doesn’t live with him but he sometimes goes there and stays for a few days. He says He tried everything to help him, but nothing worked. He has another son who finished his college and works. He’s doing fine. 🙏
I like this guy and we have lots in common. What should I do in this situation?

Im trying to learn to develope that emotional intimacy in my reconciliation with my ex. He broke up ith me 7 months ago and reached back out last week. Were both emotionally avoidant people. He is divorced. Ive not been married. Our sexual chemistry is amazing, but want a real solid connection with him. Im going to check out the book recommended. Im hoping to spark that emotional response and build on it with this man.

Does someone need to be emotionally-open to know what they want, why they want it, know what they do, know why they do it, to be protective of self and loved ones, to be honest and forthright, to be devoted/loyal to loved ones, and to have empathy for loved ones?

    • @JonathonAslay

      I would think so...

    • @user-yk5xo2pi7m
      @user-yk5xo2pi7m 8 месяцев назад +2

Yes. When you emotionally connect with another human (wants, desires, traumas, fears), it allows you and your partner to create a "safe zone" for one another. For example, if your partner calmly explained to you that when you raise your voice, it reminds them of their traumatic childhood... would you stop and think about how you react the next time? Sure! Because you want your partner to feel safe with you.. and with that safety comes trust, which breeds loyalty. In turn, you are encompassed by empathetic feelings for your partner.

@@user-yk5xo2pi7m I'm in total agreement with you with all you said. Safety and security in relationship are the minimum requirements for me in relationship now that I've accepted my relationship needs, regardless of what others say.
As a matter of fact, one way I'll know I'm with my match is the other person, like me, will do all it takes to ensure I'm safe and secure in the relationship (as I do too for my partner).
I love how you articulated it.
I guess I didn't think of this as being an emotional awareness thing right off, for a person do those things. Maybe more of a duty and sense of purpose.
But having been in partnership with two different narcissists (and raised by narcissists as well), I do know those people are emotionally immature and detached. I always wondered why their sense of duty didn't motivate them to care. Maybe there is no sense of duty without emotional maturity? Hmm

i had a date last weekend. i offered to pay my share and he told me 'no, let me pay it makes me feel like a man'.. he's a very masculine eastern European man.. please can we talk more about paying and how this effects men. he told me that he went on a date and as he disappeared to the toilet the woman paid for everything. when he returned and found out he was so badly effected, even physically... it was a very negative experience for him. what is your take on this story Jonathan? thanks

Why are guys so lazy in relationships, even early stages with dating apps? Hardly put any effort. Will answer questions and won’t ask anything back. This is a pet peeve for me. As soon as this happens, I lose interest. But it’s sad how common this is.

The problem is sometimes both genders want to be chased by everybody and be attractive for everybody.
    Their wishes came true.
They are attractive for everybody and chased by everybody.
Except for the one they have the love, empathy and gratitude for.
they give the energy out to the world, instead of going inward and changing their mindset.
Their mindset should be I want to be attractive to one person and be attracted to one person who is compatible fo me.
If women think that being a "Jennifer Lopez" is an easy task, that million men will love them.
than you can not expect that one person will commit to you because you create the type of energy that is hard for a committed relationship, and enjoying trips and hobbies in intimate ways.
