I had the VW for 11 years just changed to the custom L2H2 lwb and the extras that come with it in the price was amazing. Electric mirrors heated f/s heated seats. Air con, cruse control, reversing camera front back parking censers, loads more, and it drives like a car, the repair costs are a lot cheaper. Great advert to sell your van though, love it.
Number one reason to choose VW for me is the transporter is available with 4wd (4motion) and the Ford is not, unless you go with the larger base model and that’s only for 21+ models so there’s nothing else in the second hand market.
Some of the 2nd hand prices of the VW's are hysterical. The Transporter is un-cool mainly because every man and his dog has one in the UK.. I'm thinking Top Gear's wall 'uncool' section. I'd probably do the same for the custom as the commercial side is flooded with them!
@@KBeadle was furloughed on Monday and have fitted a digital clock / temp / volt meter in the van, fitted a smoke alarm and done some wiring to be able to charge van starter battery. Diesel heater still to be fitted, maybe next week but weather forecast doesn’t look good. Stay safe.
I am spending a lot of time in VW californias taking them to and from recall for roof replacement. My own day camper is a transit custom. The VW is well made and nicely finished, but it’s a factory job so should be. However, it doesn’t half feel cramped compared to my Transit! You can keep your reputation, I’ll take the room thanks!
…60 years of aspirations and belonging, you can’t beat that! So true and even further! VW’s back then, had the engine in the back, occupying that space and dictating how to design the cabin layout. 60 years later and decades after the engine has moved front, the layout in most cases remain untouched despite the missing engine. Ford Westfalia Nugget changed the layout with a back kitchen / 2 rooms concept, which I find interesting, because of clear bedroom, a better kitchen and a more workable toilet option in a “separate” area.
I think ford I think deprecation and repairs. We've had our 2.5 TDI intercooler VW T4 for 13 years. It's been bullet proof. Cam belt and general maintenance. Still pulls like a train. And in this climate we will get our money back. Also I'm in woolacombe in the pop top writing this. 😂
If you buy with your head surly you’d buy the van you’ll get more money for when you sell it. That’s not the Ford. And I love fords and all ways have. But own a transporter. But I’d have a transit in a wiff waff .
@@KBeadle what is it they say. No one gets married with Divorce in mine. After being bumped senseless buying a vw. It’s good to know you’ll get decent money back when you sell it. My own transporter has been brilliant but I must admit. Some of the new transit’s are looking very temping. Especially the RS
Loved the video mate! New subscriber here 🤙🏼 I have the same dilemma coming new year… providing I have some cash. Ford or Vw work van… probably around 2016 mark.
Hi Karl I’m about to put pop top new kitchen and bed , never done it before , so when you say you can put double bed in how wide is the kitchen and how wide is double bed , are you talking 120cm bed 40cm kitchen, sorry to bother you great video well done good luck ☑️👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
if you intend keeping a van a long time I'd go for the ford. The only advantage with a VW is that you get your money back when its time to sell I reckon
Cracking vid. Personally I'd go with ford just to be a bit different. What was that you were using to trim the inside of the window, some kind of flexi-ply? Cheers
Karl, out of interest whats the Transit like on AdBlu? I’ve heard it said they’re quite thirsty cor the stuff. Also the VWs are quite particular about exact quantities of AdBlu and only when the van tells you to add the stuff, is the Transit similar or can you just stick some in as it needs it.
Gives a new meaning to talking to myself . Great vid

Enjoy your wet cam belt snapping
I love my MS-RT Transit but like you say there are so many more part available for VW’s it make it easy to convert But I am happy to be a Ford guy 😋
Now, thats how you make an advert to sell yer van! 🤣
Ich liebe meinen Transit Custom 2019! Ist geräumig, hat viele Ablagemöglichkeiten, super zum fahren und gut zum umbauen 🥰
Fun, Funny and Infomative. Great stuff!
Really good content mate, keep it up!
I have VW T5.1 2.0tdi 140HP 4Motion. Best Van I ever had. 💪💪💪
Ford Transit can't beat them twin wheel rear axle , ex minibus 17seat high roof . best value for money.
A very clever video. Nice to see something different 😁
Fantastic editing Karl - well done as always
Hi Karl im a Ford dude i love them, they just get better ...excellent video buddy & now a follower mate keep it up buddy
Excellent video, have a 2000 VW T4, thinking of a newer van, may well be a transit..thanks
very good balanced argument there boys
You are great guys!
I must say, fantastic video mate. Really good to watch. Keep up the good work.

All are awd
ford transit very easy to break into

Nice window fitting by the way..
Briliant had me glued lol
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🦕😁✌️🤞
Brilliant mate!
Loving your channel
Good job mate!
fantastic van to drive being a x cab driver for years I should know .
Real reason most want VW, brand snobbery, some even mount surfboards on their roof for decoration 🥴
Don’t know how you did it but bloody brilliant! And the fitting of the window wasn’t bad either 😃👍
Thanks Simon. Made a start on that diesel heater yet ;)

Me too!
this must have taken ages to film... it’s ace 😆
and answers a question i’ve been asking myself for months!
its not so much the time it took, more the thought about how to do it
@@KBeadle the thought paid off, you killed it!
Love your videos mate

Fantastic video 😂 great humour and you’re a natural in front of the camera! Great points made too! (Currently looking at buying an overpriced T5.1)

I'll never work on a conversion with my twin brother!
Ive had the old Ford transit VS the vw T4. The transit rusts through and through. Is take a vw any day. Newer Vans are different though.
Really great vid!
Good Video!
So wish I could afford a campervan
Will you be building it yourself again. If so be good to see the builds . Last one was really good to watch 👍🏼
That's the plan!
just drove a T6. My old Trafic drives better and has more features. Gonna test a Ford
You didn’t mention you had a twin! So which one does the video work? Lol nice job again!👍🏻
Best video ive seen!
Brilliant info got a works Ford custom transit it’s great but I’ve decided to get a VW T5 for camper conversion I’m I nuts ? 😂🤷♂️
Awesome...
Very cool video 👍
Bril👍
And then the Ford "Wet belt" technology came along...
very good Karlos. i'll be interested to know the final score as its coming up on the 'to do' list.
if you intend keeping a van a long time I'd go for the ford. The only advantage with a VW is that you get your money back when its time to sell I reckon
Can’t compare them both . Ford is terrible quality
Cracking vid. Personally I'd go with ford just to be a bit different. What was that you were using to trim the inside of the window, some kind of flexi-ply? Cheers
it was actually the hardboard lining out of last years VW
Where did you get your pop top for the transit
Which is best ? The fiat Taleto.
Форд Лучший !
hiace is the best.
Because ford transits rust insanely. I had one. Never again. Vw all the way
My 6 year old one hasn’t got a spot
Sauber.

Mine pre ad blu so I don’t know
Volkswagen transporter all the way
Would be careful with publicising your home address. Great video though.
Is the van still for sale?
Transits run a wet belt, which likes to leave it's teeth in the sump
Transit Custom everytime
how much does it cost roughly to convert a van into a camper ?
between 4 and 6k if you do it yourself
@@KBeadle thanks, been thinking of getting a camper but it cost quite alot even for 20 year old ones. Might aswell give it ago myself in the summer 👍
