    i was the guy who fell - i looked back because i got surprised; i know its not optimal and im a better racer than that. to those saying 4:28 is slow for the state meet, its a smaller classification and caden thurman (4:06 miler) decided not to do the 1600 this year

      Please don’t let it define you. I liked how you ran that race. Keep training, keep up the work!!!

      Classic mistake of not running to the line! Never assume victory brother. Good lesson for future races

      I don't care what anyone says; 4:28 is blistering!

      Don't sweat it. If you haven't tripped, fallen, etc. you haven't tried it!! In other words, it happens to all of us!! Who hasn't been in or seen a strange race.

    WHAT? Did I just see a high school miler run 10.8 in the last 100 meters?

  • @philipj.sherman2987
    @philipj.sherman2987 6 месяцев назад +16

    The winner literally ran that last 100 meters in 10 to 11 seconds.
    He had too much left in the tank.
    He could run at least 4:15 with better competition.

    I myself actually ran against the winner during the district meet- and he was ruthlessly fast. He lapped me in the 3200 actually, and I am in the low 11s.

    The kick would be impressive if he didn’t finish with a 4:28. I feel like in most states you wouldn’t even qualify for a state meet with that time.

      Texas has regional schools. All the athletic/rich people go to big schools everyone else goes to these small local ones

      literally, 4:28 is too slow for even my section of the state, let alone the actual state meet

      2A schools here in Texas only have 100-200 students enrolled, so yeah very small

    maybe a 4:15 1500m i forgot that the smaller districts have such different standards. this did seem like a tactical race.

      And then, when he was looking at what was passing him, he stepped on the slick aluminum curb. And down he went.

    Cunningham shouldn’t have looked back and lost his balance, you never do that in a race

  • @hf2678
    @hf2678 6 месяцев назад +13

    Stop looking back. It serves no purpose and only makes you slow down, look weak, and possible stumble. Your coach should've taught you that on the first day.

    • @zeeksfreaks602
      @zeeksfreaks602 6 месяцев назад

      I don't know why he did that in the 1st place, especially sprinting. That's why he stumbled so badly. The only time I would even think to look back would be on the 300 meter mark of the 3rd lap, to know how close my competition is behind me, and I would do it around a bend, not on a straightaway.
