- Foot Locker XC champion Elizabeth Leachman of Boerne Champion (TX) continues to run on a tear this year. The sophomore clocked 4:37.17 to win the 1,600m and the UIL 5A Region 4 championships and finished less than a second off the Texas girls state record.

A good runner always clocks herself. She is running alone never looking back and a very focused runner. She is a joy to watch.
😎 From a old 74 year old miler OUTSTANDING JOB!!! You demoralize the competition with that strategy 👍👍
In future race vids, please consider extending the video by 15 - 30 seconds to show all of the competitors as they finish. (4/22/2024)
The video is about the second fastest 1600m in Texas not about the race as a whole.
When you put up a race against other human beings, it’s respectful to show at least the next 3 to 5 finishers.
And showing a little of the 'action' behind the running 150 feet ahead of everyone else. It was all one girl running, not a 1600 race.
This video is not about them. But about her.
Leachman and Engelhardt head-to-head in the mile. That would be epic.
Maybe, but Sadie ran 4:29 last week .
@@Runningchanelfoodandfitneesyeah Sadie is on another level 👍🏾
@@jamesj8047 nah leachman is. She ran sub 5 pace for a 5k
@@lukecarroll19 umm that's not the same 🤔 That's like comparing Sha Carri to Jackson Sha Carri is faster in the 100 but Jackson is faster in the 200. Sadie is faster in the 1600& mile than Leachman according to the times ran🤷🏾♂️ Both ran their times essentially by themselves and Sadie ran faster. We're talking about the 1600 in this thread not the 5k, lol
@@lukecarroll19 Agree. For only being a Soph, Beth is much more versatile than Engelhardt. Will be fun watching Sadie after she gets to Raleigh and train with Tuohy on ocassion. But Leachman, may just re-write EVERYTHING!!
She’s amazing!
We are going to hear more about this girl. She is the real deal. She rarely falters.
Such a joy to watch her run!
Another special one!!! And as a SOPH, ran faster than Valby's 5000 NCAA win this past year! WOW!
Elizabeth Leachman, whata fanom, whata inspiration, all guts running
Amazing athlete
Awesome performance.
I love watching Leachman run. She is a horse and she just gets out there and run.
She’s flying !
You go girl.
Super impressive
I couldn't see it for a while, but the reason she's so good is look at her feet on her back kick, the bottom of her foot is pointed straight at the sky. Her stride is different than anyone else I've ever seen. Maybe that's the reason.
Announcer dude..we kno' you're real busy..but c'mon man, giv' folks tha' split times, okay?
Love 💕 this
Congrats to this young lady and Sadie just found herself a new running partner for the first 3.75 laps.
Leachman is smooth and not a lot movement. The other girls had lots of hip and arm movement. Nice.
Elizabeth moves her upper body a lot less than most of her competitors. It’s not easy I think but saves a lot of energy. She is extremely impressive.
Future is bright
Miles split track and field meet
Loved this-maybe next time film a bit longer so we can see all the girls cross the finish line!
sheeeeesh. shes out thar...all by herself!!!! wow
The wording of this video title is unclear to me. Was this the second fastest 1600 meter time EVER at this school or Ever in the sport?
Sad...North East can't afford a clock at the finish line? Elizabeth Leachman, baby! More power to ya. I'm a fan. Hope you find that perfect existence of training on the track coupled with the cross training Parker Valby has shined with. I'm no runner but I hope you stay off cross country courses & sharp, slanted indoor tracks for injury sake. I'm old, went to start exercising starting w/walking. The sidewalk I used was slanted, in a month I couldn't lift my right leg at the knee joint due to that right-leaning sidewalk the right heel had to reach further to every step ala the indoor short tracks turns
Her coach needs to be out there shouting the splits at her. She checked her watch 5-6x and that will definitely slow you down. She might have broken the record if it werent for that.
I thought maybe she was checking her heart rate
@@phillippitts6294 You could be right. Either way, slowed her down
@@sharonb537 it probably did slow her down. If it was a h.r. monitor. She might have been checking so she didn’t blow up in the last hundred. Maybe she didn’t turn off the alarm for the monitor. I would not be surprised to see this young athlete in the Olympics one day .
Checking a watch is more reliable than maybe not hearing a coach, plus she was checking twice per lap (coach would have to run back and forth across the field).
U should probably settle down Beavis bc it's April it wasnt competitive and she also raced an 800
She’s going to break every collegiate record there is, no matter WHAT superstar Parker Valby does.
Beautiful WomanElizabeth Leachman will break record after recordStanding Ovation
BadASS 😮🎉
We will see run in the Olympics 4 years from now.
her pacing is getting better and better. lost count how many times she checked that watch. Cooks record is on borrowed time at this point.
Ran that as a sophomore boy and I thought I was fast 😂
Congratulation tilinfinity, that's a fast mile. I ran a 4:36 as a senior and got 8th in district. Now the ladies make it look easy. In the 80s, it was very rare to see a HS girl under 5:00. I think Leachman may go under 4:30 before she graduates.
Well done! They are all way faster than I was in high school . Might be checking her heart rate?
Well done Elizabeth!
Wtf😮
she runs like Pre
Um, are you sure she broke a record, there did not seem to be any enthusiasm about it.
How is she allowed to wear a watch?
Gotta lose the watch, pissed away 1.5 seconds. Coach can run across the field back and forth and give her 200 meter splits
Funny. You giving advice to someone who just set a record.
