Great job. Awesome video. I just got the JDL kit and I felt like I should have maybe got the GTX Turbo but I got the GT2860RS DRS but that's fine because I didn't do any internal work on the motor and only plan on Maybe 300 horsepower. But that car sounds and looks amazing
@@AngusOutram I agree however, I’m not sure I want to drop any more money than I already did lol. But I’m satisfied. Sti/ original Supra close in performance power to weight at least.
Yeah definitely agree! I’m looking to revise the intercooler setup in the future, for now I’ve just left it how the kit came so I can see if there are any gains on the changes I make in the future!
Good question, I’m just sure, I do think it’s the bigger cooler though, fits with it only minor trimming still (I might have bought my kit before they had different options on cooler size?)
Axels are upgrade units made in-house at The86Shop. The trans is strong enough I believe but I’ve installed a carbon synchro kit to help with 4th gear dying. Clutch is an NPC clutch. Honestly I’ve clutch kicked everything here multiple times under full power on hot semi slicks and Zno issues as of yet. I’m quite confident in the whole setup lasting a while yet
@@AngusOutram ah man i didnt even see this reply! Lol ended up watching this vid again. Love the car bro. Any plans to make a vid about the engine build? Would love to hear more on this!
Hey man, love the car and video! I'm planning on going turbo brz in the future with around 350whp, and I'm also in brisbane, I seen on your other vid that the 86 shop did this all? How reliable has the car been with a built motor, I want to have this car as my daily, any info would be appreciated
Thank you!! I couldn’t fully recommend dailying a turbo FA20. I haven’t had the best of luck (3,000k’s on stock motor and 8,000k’s on built motor before they had a major failure) some people seem to get lucky, others don’t seem to catch a break. If you like to floor your car stay N/A as a daily, if you drive a bit more reserved I’m sure a turbo kit would be fine!
Nice work. If you'd like to have a look, I've got the MoTeC in mine with a ton more sensors added on. 400kw @16psi... Axles now voice their hate, back to 8psi till I get new ones. Looking back, the ecutek is the sane option if I did it over.
Ah yes! I would love to come see your car! Andrew says only good things about it. I’m keen to see how it goes with 400kw. I loved mine at 300kw, 400kw would be insane!
@@AngusOutram yeah man was crazy you must of been moving the first digit on my speedo was a 2 and you pulled away pretty quick, I seen your number plates first and thought something was up lol, Really nice build mate, Im only making around 200hp at the front wheels as my stock k03 turbo is maxed out, Im going to a is38 with a goal of 350+ hp, Do you get out to QR much?
Charles Kinne iag shortblocks are roughly $4000 you will need new gaskets, new head bolts and abunch of oil to brake in the new engine. I built mines for roughly $5000
This is an off-the-shelf turbo from Garrett. I'm not sure what size turbo Ford uses in their Focus models but it is common place for Auto Manufacturers to outsource for certain parts!
I'm running an AVO Turbo with about 380hp on e85 and got the same sound out of the gears at high rpms so I guess it's fine. the only thing that bugs me is that ive got a recirculating blow off valve because of regulations (yes atmospheric ones are illegal and they'll behead you if you do none) here in switzerland.
@@TheDimaho Is the oil cooler in front of the radiator? I would put the oil cooler behind the fog light, out of the way of the radiator. And maybe look at a larger core?

yes id love details on how to do a built motor
Nice vid, she looks like a beast. Super keen to hear more about the motor
Thank you, definitely will bring more content about the motor in the future so stay tuned!
yes separate vid for the engine pls. nice build
Glad to see more content mate! 👍🏻
Thanks bro! Definitely more to come!
Yes please, more on the engine build in the next video.
Subbed 👍
Keep it up man!! Keen to see more videos!
Thanks bro! Definitely more to come :)
Yess...video on built engine!
What a BEAST
What rods did you go with? I got the Edelbrock supercharger and no issues as of yet. interesting that you went with the stock pistons.
Would love a video on the motor
Great content. What size turbo blankets you running? Thanks and keep it up.
I'm not actually 100% sure, it came with the kit sorry
how did you manage to install the sti brembos?? i would love to run this set up
They pretty much bolt right on! Just need brake lines, calipers, rotors, and to trim the rear stone guard
Cool video!
As you are using stock pistons, I assume the compression ratio is the same as standard?
Yeah stock pistons! I haven’t seen them fail yet below 300kw, so keen to keep these till I can potentially go higher compression
I am running the same wheel haha
It's actually 17x9 35 very light and strong, huge clearance for bbk
Yeah! I couldn’t find too many 17 inch options which fit the Brembo BBK, but so happy I chose these wheels

Look like a nice build but that 90deg silicone inlet is a big power killer. The turbo would benefit from one with a much larger radius.

part numbers for the brembos pls
Pls post more driving vids love the car
The car is currently at the workshop getting some more stuff done to it. When it's back this will be my top priority!
what exhaust is this ? nice vid man keep it up
It is a custom made 3 inch exhaust done by a local exhaust shop, Rob Bliss Exhausts. Highly recommend if you are in the area!
Since you are running E85, did you stick with stock compression of 12.5 or lower it?
I just needed to watch the whole video, i see you kept stock. Thanks
Just subbed to become your 1k subscriber
Internal or external gate? Is this the spec s SME kit or spec r (bigger intercooler?)
Good question, I’m just sure, I do think it’s the bigger cooler though, fits with it only minor trimming still (I might have bought my kit before they had different options on cooler size?)
how much did the built motor cost? Im wondering of doing the same since i got some money to spare.
I wouldn’t have much change from $10k AUD however I’m sure it could be done cheaper
What exhaust setup are you running? And is it 2.5" or 3"?
3inch system. It’s full custom. I did a video about it, on my channel :)
ill take it that you live around warner lakes just by looking at the roads you were driving?
Haha I actually don’t but It’s a nice quiet place to film haha!
what about your axles, propshaft, clutch and transmission? all stock? ive heard people start breaking trans and axles once you go above 250kw ish atw

built motor, are you running lower than factory compression?
Nah same factory 12.5:1 compression, one of my goals with the build was to keep the high compression for response
How come you went to SME kit over the AVO kit ?
Overall better kit, higher quality etc
did you manage to get a QLD Mod plate for the turbo setup?
Yeah it’s 100% modplated in QLD. I believe it’s also engineerable in NSW
