@@yashirotheultimateseraphim4521 well it can depend, like can you see the clothes and face and hair? Or does this character literally look like saiko’s father from saiki k where he’s so rich he shines brighter than the sun?
But I do feel like any transformations or power ups should be extensions of the characters. In my stories, the increases in power are linked to the knowledge, skill, and or creativity of the characters

I agree. Blue Beetle-type powers -- where the character gains their abilities from sentient beings or spirits (JJK) that possess them -- have always been weak to me.
That just doesn't make a character feel powerful and it never will because they're getting their power from an outside source. Even worse -- it's not even the main character at all. A completely different character is doing all the work. Not the main protagonist. I hate that.
True power comes from within. The main characters, who do all the work, will always be dope to me -- will always feel powerful to me.
So, I like your angle better.
Nice touch with Jesus' thorn crown in the halo behind him, since He's part of the trinity (smart easter egg)
Edit: "halo thorns" sounds a like cool move now that I think about it
I specialize in drawing God the Son and drawing Him in different transformation forms with power. So, it's good to see that you understand that He is a part of the Trinity.

My favorite transformation is Saitama's when he gets serious. His dopey look goes away, his muscle definition shows through his costume. It shows you something's different now but doesn't make a huge light show out of it.

My favorite type of transformations are the mindless beast forms. Cuz the solution to getting them to stop without killing is harder and not so obvious, if done correctly.
A studio should Animate ur Manga cuz its Hella Lit
I really like Neptune's transformation, Purple Heart. She uses this rules very well, her hair gets longer and darker, she gets taller, she gets wings, an aura and a pretty big personality change.
Black Heart goes from a cute tsundere that will arrest you to a angry housewife that will kill you

Not really power-up related, but, do you have tips on how to make a smooth “negative” character development, how to make a good character become evil without it feeling forced ?
Sorry I'm late but I'd say a change in philosophy, or loss something to trigger negative emotions or thought that could realistically drive someone down the wrong path, idk if you know or like star wars but a character in that series is a slave growing up and after he's set free he vows to save his mom and while he still in training hes constantly plagues with visions of her dying, one day while traveling he decided to go see if she was ok and finds out she was kidnapped by creatures on his home planet, when he finds her she does in his arms and he kills all of the creature and this was the first step he took to the dark side in that series. He ultimately becomes the most feared man in existence during his time.
thanks for the video, my main character has a magic ability that allows him to take the form of spirits around him, but if he stays in an untamed form for too long, it will become a full take over, so this video really helped out especially since i have a character whos main ability is to transform
My favorite transformation is Luffy's second gear and Black arm Zephyr's Black arm style.

Whyt's style is so original and authentic because he learned from multiple artists and combined their styles to form a unique style. If you've been drawing for a while and have been studying a multitude of drawers, you would see that Whyt's style is heavily influenced by Tite Kubo (Bleach), Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto), and Eiichiro Oda (One Piece). His style is a core combination of those three folks and perhaps a few more mangaka artists.

I just had a really funny idea for a joke in a future volume... if future characters have other body parts of Merlin, does that mean that eventually we’ll have a villain with “Merlin’s abs” and he or she fights with their stomach?!🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣
Nerd And jock maybe the abs can create a vacuum type of spell, signifying the stomach rumbles behind the abs 😅
already planned it, but its a little different and well thought out. Someone has Merlin's Eyes... wink wink. its more complicated than you'd think tho
Whyt Manga is it related to the symbology of the character having a gluttonous nature ?? I had a character like that back in the day,before I abandoned that approach to this character after having seen Fma, it just felt too similar to me to Gluttony, the fat one of the homunculi.

I can see a character.lile that. In some Chinese or Buddhist teachings the stomach is called the "sea of chi". So maybe that character has an infinite amount of impulse. That would mean they could break walls ivory and ebony no problem. They'd probably be one of the most powerful wizards out there. All they need to do is learn the spell, but they have limitations preventing them from using it.
This was so helpful! My female main character has a transformation and her human body is inside her transformation kinda like Eren. She is 10 feet tall within this form and extremely vulnerable. You see in this manga the power (I will not mention the name because I have paranoia that someone might steal it >u

Have you begin already I have a magic system and worldbuilding I love it and feel like it would be a waste if I did it now with my lack of skill. I feel like I would just spit on the idea that on my head or somebody might. steal the idea. But you know what by the end of march I will have my first 15 page manga.
You can also see the transformation through eye's, body, etc. Not just the hair.

I’ve always been a fan of the “mega man type transformations”. Instead of one do it all transformation. Theres multiple variations with their own strengths and weaknesses. Examples would be like Ben 10 or Gear 4

Of course Creativity. Imagination. But use Metaphors and symbolism.
Example: if a guy has water powers. His name could be water related. Or based on a personality trait ect.
tHe character i made Kami hair stays same, eyes change from yellow to blended red with a sign in the middle and kinda like a dark black and red lightnight when he transforms and he stabs himself with The Dagger of Souls activating his demon depening on how much he wants to use 1%-100% kinda like deku's one for all

This is great advice. I'm doing a transformation where my character "technically" becomes angelic, but there are actual angels in this universe and I didn't want him to become a legitimate "angel" so it's good to iron out the details.
I have an OC who's inspired from my favorite classic anime called *Zenki*
His name is Lyko a half human half wolf and normal form is a kid and transforms into a mature physically fit version of himself in tribute to *Zenki*
He also tributes to super saiyan transformation as his black hair turns orange.
My character has to kill for his power. But once he attains it theres no longer meaning to his life and he goes mad
Goku, naruto ichigo and guts' power up transformations are my top four favorites
