    When you're on top, everyone is gunning for you. How did Jay Cutler dominate competitive bodybuilding for five years? He trained harder than his rivals and won four Mr. Olympia titles.
    These were actually a series of workouts mid-summer between 2006-07 at the Las Vegas Gold's on Sahara. It's a pretty hardcore gym. I worked out with a partner named Rick Belcastro, who trained with me for four years before the Olympias. He was in there to basically push me; he did only about a quarter of my weight. And this was usually in the offseason.
    To get the best leg workouts I possibly could. This was less about building more muscle-my legs have always been one of my strong points-but more about keeping what I had. I was a high-volume trainer.

      Daniel Lantz Yes but for the most part it is better to over train than to under train. Most people think they are training hard when they really aren't.
      When it comes to legs especially push it really hard and you will improve. This is coming from a college football player.

    • @VegetoStevieD
      @VegetoStevieD 5 лет назад +37

      Daniel Lantz
      A major aspect of squatting is keeping the barbell over the center of your feet. No matter the arguments about Jay Cutler's legs, I do not recommend letting a machine do this work for you, because it robs you of the benefit.
      Any machine that assists you in a movement, also robs you of the benefit of performing the movement yourself. Machines pump up your muscles, perhaps, but they don't exactly train you the skill of functioning within a gravitational field the way barbells do.

    • @squareguy6443

      I do 3 sets of 20 at 190 on leg extension then go to leg press start out 1 set of 10 275 then 2 sets of 12 at 400 then I go squat. My routine is always the same every time I go to the gym I do the three workouts first and I will never touch my upper body until I have done my legs. In the first 40 days my legs went from nothing to f****** bath house stacked. And I had took a few years off got lazy and didn't want to do s*** with my life but six months ago I got back in the gym and that routine has worked out for me as my legs are concerned I was able to go up 50 pounds a week on legs press and squat without gear

  • @DATo_DATonian
    @DATo_DATonian 5 лет назад +14

    I keyed on something Jay said that I also do. I never go into the gym with preconceptions of what I expect from myself other than the best I can do on that day. I start light and keep adding on the pounds till I hit failure on two to three reps. If I go in with a plan and I succeed I get the big head. If I go in with the same plan and fail I feel bad and lose confidence. If I go in and can honestly say I totally maxed out I know that was the very best I could do on that day and that's all anyone can ask of themselves. I also wear loose fitting sweats. I don't want to see the pump, I want to feel it. Seeing the pump can subconsciously lead you to start slacking off, but you can't argue with feeling it in a massive way. Not seeing it causes me to reach farther.

    Great workout. Jay does smith machine squats because of a football leg injury.

    Jay the fridge cutler! Smartest BB of all time! He doesn't train as heavy as other Prob BB, but he knows his stuff

      Yup. Not only did he win the "O" 4 times, he still looks great and you don't see him hobbling around.

      Patawan C he did train as heavy but he also did lighter weights to give his body a break and to recover ,as for ronnie and some other guys just lifted heavy

    I do the same with not wearing shorts on leg day, I don't have the biggest legs but I have the same mindset as jay with that one though. 😁

    I can’t believe how little rest he does between sets. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone do that especially with legs.

      I DO THAT AND I'M NOT A PRO, IT'S NOT HARD TO DO ONCE YOUR BODY IS CONDITIONED AND THE BREATHING IS DOWN PACKED, I LEAVE MY WATER JUG IN THE LOCKER FOR AFTER I TRAIN, SO I'M DOING 20SETS FOR QUADS AND 20 SETS FOR HAMS, 1 MINUTE AT MOST BETWEEN SETS
